They did great.  They showed up and did what they said they would.  They were professional and I enjoyed the experience.

Awful, stressful, big waste of time chasing him down unsuccessfully. The work that WAS done was decent but not COMPLETE and I am seeking financial reimbursement for incomplete services.

We received a letter in early January that he had personal issues going on and to please stick with him. We chose to wait for him, but it was continuously delayed. He’s battling medical issues, so we requested to have our $200 returned. He said he would, but that was a month ago. We haven’t received the money or any contact from him. Now it seems that his phone and email are disconnected. We’re now seeking Angie’s List assistance.

From the beginning, I had trouble getting a "straight" answer on price. Seemed to change if I didn't add in all of the parts of the fence at first install, as opoosed to adding on later. Not all of the parts were in stock, so when the fence was installed, I was still waiting on solar lights for the fence posts. I had to call the company several times to get an answer on when my fence would be installed - I was told that they had bigger jobs that needed to be done first. Finally when they showed up, they did as much as they could and came back later to install solar lights - the solar lights on the fence posts have never worked from day one - I have apprx 5 emails in to the owner of the company, and have yet to get an answer as to what they can do about it. Now, on top of them not working (not lighting up as promised, and being late) two of them have completley fallen off the fence due to snow, when they are suppose to be bolted down and not in danger of "the elements." We are really diappointed, as we've been unable to use these lights since day 1, and now may need top have them all replaced.

This company is Awesome! Of the three company's we chose to speak with from Angie's list Peckels was the only one that met with me rather than just show up, look at the job and call me. I was impressed with the attention to detail and some additional reinforcement they salesman suggested. We were very eager to get the work done since the wood fence was leaning way over because multiple posts had broken. They got us on the scheduled right away. A week later the fence broke free, half of it laying down and the other half twisting up to the good fence post. We were afraid all this twisting might make the fence unmendable. I called Peckels and they moved us up in the scheduled and came in the next two days to complete the repair. As soon as I figure out how I will nominate them for the page of happiness and always recommended them.

We got estimates of fencing from Rich. He brought books of samples and gave us price estimates via email. He was polite and friendly. We had to wait a few weeks before the actual work began. They had a lot of rain to deal with, and were having to finish previous jobs. I was pleased with the crew who put in the fence posts. They worked extremely hard in very hot conditions. It was another crew who did the fence, and they worked hard too, were polite, always asked questions to make sure we knew what was next in the process. The result is a very beautiful and sturdy fence. Everyone from the owner to both the crews were great people. Highly recommend this company. They are a smaller company, but they really care about their customers' satisfaction, and their product is excellent.

Rich was great in suggesting what would look best in our backyard. Jake and his team were right on time and did an excellent job on our fence. I would recommend them to anybody.

Good! Rich (salesman) was great...honest, prompt, professional and friendly. Price was excellent but had to wait longer for installation than many other vendors...my choice to wait. However, we waited longer than reasonable for project completion. Many reasons given for delay. Owner (Jake) installed fence and did an excellent job when installed.

Very happy with owner, salesman, and work crew. They rescued me after another contractor started the fence, then walked off the job. They put up most of the fence in the winter, put up temporary fence in the spots that could not be done due to the season, then returned in the spring to finish. They were very considerate of my indecisiveness by making suggestions that would fit my needs. They were very tolerant of, and pleasant to, my two obnoxious dogs. Since the fence has been in place, three different people have stopped to ask me who did the fence, because it looks so nice from the street.

We originally spoke to Peckel and two other contractors in 2009 for an estimate on a new fence, but had decided to hold off on installing one that year. When we decided to go ahead with it this year, we only called Peckels due to the great service we received last year, including the amount of time they had spent with us talking about our plans/options and the very detailed estimate/plans we had received. When they arrived to update our estimate, they had the original plan/estimate in hand and were able to recall our discussion from a year before! We discussed some changes we wanted, some problem areas we hoped they could address, and also were told about this great buy on tongue and groove cedar they had recently received. Due to changes to our original fence design and the great buy on wood, the estimate came down almost $2000, so we were very pleased. They also noted that we had dogs, so that they would have to work fast to get the old fence down and the new one up. They estimated they could begin the work in 3 weeks and were right on target. They removed our old chain link and installed the new posts in about a day and half. The cement work around the base of the posts was very professionally finished off and the posts were perfectly aligned. As they began the fence installation, they ran into a few problems in our yard that changed the originally plan, but made sure to reach out to us to discuss our options befpre proceeding. The fence installation took about 2? days, and we couldn't be happier! Our yard is not level, sloping down in one corner, and they did an incredible job adjusting the fence to match the slope while keeping the top line laser leveled. We also had requested a double gate along the back to allow us to open up the fence to throw snow off our driveway, and they created a great double gate for just that. They knew the reason for the new fence was one of our dogs, who fancies himself an escape artist, and took great care to ensure any opening was small enough to prevent his escape (so far he has searched every corner with no success!). They also took great care to finish off our neighbors chain links fences to not leave any gaps for them, which we (and they) greatly appreciated. The finished product is great! We love the look of it and the craftmanship! Everyone we dealt with at Peckels was professional and considerate - always thanking us for the work. This was one of the best experiences we have ever had with a contractor, and would definitely recommend them to friends/family or hire them again.

they agreed to put in our fence as early in the spring as possible to avoid injuring our extensive plantings. The istallation crew used miter cuts to fit all of the pieces together perfectly. They acomodated our neighbor so that there would not be a problem with their dog escaping.

Rich gave me several options and explained the differences in detail along with the addresses of nearby examples. With 2 days he emailed me an excel file of all the options that I could change the lengths, heights, finish details and see the price updates immediately. When the crew came out to do the work, they were friendly and courteous. The fence came out better than I had hoped and I highly recommend them to anyone.

Everyone we dealt with at Peckels was very friendly and courteous, from the owner to the crew. They clearly take pride in their work. It does take them a while to get started - if they say 3-4 weeks, you can assume 4+, but when they do get started the fence goes up very quickly. Most importantly, it's extremely sturdy and looks great.

While the quality of the fence was good, their process was very inefficient (I mean painfully inefficient). They took about 6 weeks or more from when they put in the posts to when they completed the last details. They came and went, working a few hours, then leaving to fix something on another job. It seems like they would have been much better off to just concentrate on one project and do it right the first time, even if that meant they didn't start our fence until a week or two later (even a month). Toward the end, I had to prod Jake about each little thing that needed to be done before I would pay him the remainder of his bill. I really liked their sales guy (one of the reasons they got the job), but in hindsight, I think he oversold me on Jake's work. Michael, one of the guys on the crew, was a true craftsman and probably is the reason we ultimately ended up with a nice fence.

Rich, the salesman, was very pleasant to work with and suggested a creative solution to the issue of several trees right along the property lines. We built triangular bumpouts in the fence to give room for the trees, which also adds a lot of visual interest and creates interesting spaces for plantings. The fences are beautiful, solidly built, and accomplish exactly what we wanted. There was some delay getting started and as a result the project was finished a couple of weeks later than I had hoped, but overall we are very pleased with the end product.

If you are in a hurry to get your fence done, you might shop around a little more. Timing was not a huge problem, but it may happen a week or so later than you expected, and they don't show up on the dot when they say they will.

Rich Tourand was the sales person who gave us our estimate. He was very friendly and did not pressure us to make the sale. After getting several estimates we determined that Peckels, although seemingly more expensive at first glance, was actually a better deal. After considering the quality of materials used and the level of craftsmanship promised we decided Peckels offered the most bang for our buck. When we signed our contract with Peckels the estimated completion date was 5 to 6 weeks out. Exactly as promised within 5 weeks the posts were erected and allowed approximately 1 week to dry. At the beginning of week 6 the fence construction crew arrived to complete the job. We were extremely impressed with the amount of care and consideration that went into building our fence. No effort was spared. The crew arrived early in the morning around 8am, and did not leave until the job was completed to our satisfaction at 9pm that evening. We have been enjoying the fence for several days now and I would be at a loss to describe even a single aspect of the fence I am not impressed with. The doors are solid and sturdy and feel great to open and close. The top of the fence is perfectly level from front to back, and the bottom of the fence follows the grade of the land. I can honestly say that building this fence has made us fall in love with our home again. We expected only the finest craftsmanship from Peckels and our expectations were still exceeded. I would not hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone and I have to give them a five star rating. If you're looking for an outstanding cedar fence, call Jake Peckels.

Rich and Jake are a great duo. Both were prompt and friendly. Rich was on time, talked to us at length about different options, and presented us with a quote in a timely manner. We were booked in and the work came about in a timely fashion. Jake and his crew arrived on time and did a great job putting the fence up. The work was finished on time and we could not be happier. We get compliments from the neighbors all the time.

Overall, Peckels did a very nice job. Rich Tourand was the salesperson, and he was very responsive and easy to work with. They returned my phone calls promptly and provided a reasonable bid. They came to the house twice, once to demolish the old fence and deck (to make way for a large landscaping project) and then later to build the fence after the landscaping project was mostly complete. Jake was very responsive but not always punctual. The fence and deck were not actually demolished until several days after they said they would. I was also told that it would be a one-day job to build the fence, but they did not arrive until the afternoon on that day, and even though they worked quite late, they did not finish until afternoon the following day. However, the workers were conscientous and dedicated and built a gorgeous fence. I am very happy with the quality and workmanship on the final product.

Overall, Peckels did a very good job. Although the job started a bit late and they initially put the wrong lattice top on the fence, they immediately responded to my concerns and corrected the problem. At the end of the day, what matters is that I have a high quality fence and a company that responds to problems promptly and professionally. The workers were courteous and cleaned up after themselves every day, which was very much appreciated. I'd recommend them to anyone in the area.

It went very well. Peckels quickly responded when an estimate was requested. The same cannot be said for other fencing companies we contacted. We met with Rich, who worked with me to decide on the best way to fence in our yard. (We were one of the few homes on our block without a fence and many strangers cut through our yard to save themselves a walk.) Rich recommended using our garage as a barrier to help us cut costs. It seemed to take longer for the company to actually come and install the fence than Rich had estimated. We were a little frustrated by that, but the difference was only a week or two. Once they arrived, it took only a couple days to build the fence. The results are beautiful. We've had many compliments and made a number of referrals to Peckels.
