It took 5 times longer than what was quoted. We had to manage the people doing the work on a daily basis. Derek produced a great design but the execution of the team to implement that design was painful and without close monitoring the quality would have been poor. The project was too large for them to take on in our eyes.

They put weed killer on my lawn so strong it killed the grass. They reseeded and some grass grew back but my back yard is mostly weeds and mud. They have done nothing to fix it and have not refunded any money nor did they complete the services after killing the grass

Estimator was out a few days after I contacted them. Very prompt. Clear design plan and bid. Work was preformed on time, withing constraints caused by weather. Had a few plants that did not survive the winter and they were replace promptly and without any argument. Workers were polite and careful. Cleaned up after they were done. <br />

<p> </p> <p>Due to shade, dog damage, etc., our back yard had turned into a mud yard. The grass had thinned or died, and the soil had then eroded away. Penton?s team added a few of inches of soil and then covered the soil with sod.</p> <p> </p> <p>I first want to praise the Penton team for showing up when they said they would and doing what they agreed to do. My back yard was transformed from mud yard to thick lawn. My only complaint is with the damage done to my front yard while moving soil and sod to the back yard. I understand that some damage is inevitable, but the other landscapers that I have seen put boards down to limit the heavy equipment damage. Penton?s team instead put down narrow sod patches to cover the tracks left by their track steer. This left a very uneven patch of lawn, with high tracks where the sod was set bordered by low ?barrow pit? areas. Friends and neighbors have literally tripped due to the very uneven strips. I don?t know how the damage can be repaired without stripping, leveling, and then re-sodding the area.</p> <p> </p> <p>I?m very thankful for the work that John?s team did for us, but I get a little angry every time I mow the damaged area.</p> <p> </p> <br />

They were professional. They listened to what I had envisioned, and than provided a cadded drawing with detailed accuracy. It was a much better drawing than three other estimates that I had received from other companies. The cost was in the ballpark with the other estimates. <br /> They started the project when they said they would, and did a wonderful job putting all the pieces together. The finished project is the perfect extension to my house and yard. <br />

Derek showed up at the appointed time and date to discuss our landscaping needs. We informed him of our budget and told him he had free reign to suggest some interesting ideas...we were mainly interested in having something that would make our yard stand apart from other houses in the neighborhood. As promised, within 2 weeks of his initial consultation, we received via email a .PDF of the design plan, including the names of the proposed flowers and shrubs. We were provided with a web address of where we could see pictures of the plants, as many were unfamiliar to us. In our excitement over the plan, we decided to add some additional items...landscape lighting to the front and some landscaping around a maple tree and bird bath in our backyard. We asked that the old retaining wall stones be re-purposed for the backyard to save on costs. Derek readily replied yes to our changes and submitted a revised bid. We approved the final plans and set a date to begin work. There was a few days rain delay, but of course that was not their fault. The crew that dismantled the old retaining wall were careful with the stones and constructed a nice border around our tree and birdbath. They completed this project with some hostas around the tree and some some day lilies between the tree and birdbath. It was finished with some cocoa brown mulch. The leftover stones were neatly stacked against our fence by the back gate. The front yard plants, accent boulders, new retaining wall and lighting ended up to be beautiful! The crew that arrived each day were courteous, professional and cleaned up the driveway and steps at the end of each day. The person in charge of the plantings shared tips on how to care for the plants. There were 3 smaller plants that did not hold up well in transfer from the nursery, due to the heat. They watered and fertilized everything and told us to watch them. If they did not perk up, they would be replaced. We are so pleased with the results and spend all of our free time on the front porch enjoying the new yard! We highly recommend Penton and would certainly contract with them again! <br />

Outstanding, outstanding company. <br /> We had to go with a new service provider after our previous company went MIA. Derek from Penton was punctual and timely with all correspondence. Always proactive telling us what is happening and when. Estimates come in as promised without prompting. Their work, although a little expensive, is done with quality and is through. <br /> I will try and update this post as the season continues but so far OUTSTANDING. <br /> I highly recommend without hesitation. <br />

There was an odd snow that showed up on the day they were suppose to show so I assumed that'd mean a wait... but they showed up and did the work. If it weren't for a little bit of dirt left on the drive (and the visual change to the front of the house) we wouldn't have known they were there. Due to the time of year the plan is for the crew to be back out in the spring to do some landscaping and rehab'ing of the landscape in front of the house. Great email & phone communication with the company as well. <br />

Five applications ($95.00 each) of organic fertilizer March through November. They come and do their job and leave a small flag in the lawn next to the driveway. <br />

I have been using Penton for over a year. I called them on referral from a neighbor due to my grass dying. My backyard was a complete desert! Well, it's been a year and my backyard is almost completely green again! Penton is always prompt and courteous! They are a little pricey but well worth it! <br />

Fell in love with the design that was made! Install was done quickly and it looks beautiful. The only negative I would point out is where they get their plants from. I have had several replaced already and some still look like runts but I have been assured they are fine. Bottom line Im a little disappointed but I am hopeful that next year there will be more bloom <br />
