I met Brandon Gamble last week. He was professional and offered to start the job sooner than the other pro who submitted a quote and complete the job in 3 days. Our agreement was two coats of paint per room. The first day, he was about 90 minutes late. I told Brandon that he could start his day whenever he chooses, however, if he gives me a specific time, he needs to honor it. He took me to Home Depot to pick up the paint and I treated him to a steak and shrimp lunch at Outback. The two rooms that Brandon applied the first coat of paint to was satisfactorily done. He left around 4 p.m. Today, Brandon called me at 7 a.m. and did not show up until 9:47 a.m. He brought someone named Gerard to assist. Based on the spilled paint on my cherry hardwoods, I gave Brandon $20 to purchase shoe covers, he could not find them and kept the funds - no problem. We agreed that he would cover my floors and furniture. At one point, I had to ask Brandon to not drop the ladders, paint buckets, etc. on the floor as it would damage my hardwood floors. When I checked on the quality of Gerard's work, it was substandard. Brandon's response led me to believe that he had no idea the quality of workmanship that Gerard brought to the table. Today, with excessive paint spills all over my cherry hardwood floors (both upstairs and downstairs), a visible scratch which I pointed out to Brandon, dust from Gerard's sanding all over the items in the master closet, despite giving them plastic to cover my belongings, and paper for the floors, Brandon requested that I pay him $200 and he would take Gerard home and return tomorrow. I had $150 cash.. As a disabled veteran, my heart goes out to anyone trying to make a living. However, when I discovered that Brandon washed his paintbrushes in my bathroom sink, I have no choice but to terminate this service. I paid Brandon $150 today and reached out to him to settle this issue. He has applied one coat of paint to three rooms. This has been a very disturbing experience. He reached out to me via text trying to insist that he gets paid for the 3 rooms he painted despite only putting the first coat of paint on. I explained to Brandon that Stanley Steemer would charge me $600 to clean my floors. I believe Brandon is a good guy at heart and a capable painter. However, he did not have the necessary supplies, nor did he devote the appropriate time to adequately prep my home (he did mention that he was not paid from his previous job, however, if he did not have the appropriate supplies he should not have taken on another job) to minimize damage, and then allow the appropriate amount of time for completion. You cannot require full payment, try to rush through and perform substandardly. He has contacted me via text. I had a sheriff's deputy physically inspect my home and I have video and photographs of the condition of my home. As I told Brandon earlier, I don't intend to feel uncomfortable in my own home with any contractor. I hope to resolve this amicably as Brandon still has a ladder at my home. I will also take every precaution to protect myself. I wish Brandon well. I think if he does his due diligence, he has the potential to be an A-rated provider.
Response from Perfection Painting
"I don't have a ladder at your home to my knowledge ma'am...I apologize I should have checked my help out but when a man tells me he can paint I gave no reason not to believe him ..he was fired that day and hasn't worked for me since..I'm so sorry to make you feel this way I wish you could have let me finish ..thank you and my most sincere apologies"
