He began designing houses that were built at the age of 17 while working for a lumber company in his hometown in Minnesota. His experience in and around home construction at a young age has continued for over 30 years as an architect and home inspector. After starting his own architectural practise in 2000, he bought a Pillar to Post franchise in 2010. Having completed over 1,000 inspections since then, Joseph has gained a reputation for being thorough and knowledgeable in the field. His calm demeanor and depth of experience help him to articulate the issues faced at each property so that the buyer can understand and make informed decisions. **Meet Jordan Bird** Jordan graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Goucher College in Baltimore Maryland. Prior to Goucher, Jordan spent four years on active duty with the United States Marine Corps completing multiple overseas deployments before returning home to Baltimore. After graduating from Goucher, Jordan joined Keller Williams Realty in Baltimore as a full time buyers agent. Because of his service in the military, it allowed him to understand clients on a more personal level while keeping professionalism at the forefront of every interaction. Jordan continues to help clients with their home buying process as a pillar to post home inspector. His knowledge of the home buying process furthers his diligent efforts to provide the most educational experience to his clients so that they have peace of mind when purchasing their new home. Buying a home is one of the most significant decisions and one of the biggest investments you will ever make, so Jordan consistently makes sure his clients are comfortable with each inspection and answers any questions you may have. Joe was phenomenal. He took the time to go over what he was seeing, acknowledged our concerns, and answered our questions. He was incredibly detailed and professional. At the end, he went over his report with detailed photos. This report was then emailed to us. He also gave us a binder to store all our home information. We would recommend him to everyone

My wife and I used this company before purchasing our house. Joe was on time and professional. He spotted a few minor things about the house such as window rot on one of the basement windows in the front of the house. He looked at the basement and roof and did not have any major concerns about either one. Now I've got a leaky roof and my basement is prone to flooding when there is a strong rain. The bay window on the side of my house is also leaking into the basement due to old frames that need to be serviced. I've had several roofers look at my roof recently and I've had comments like - there are too many layers and the roof has to be redone, and the coat last used to service the roof isn't even waterproof. Another contractor and friend told me my deck was unsafe. I know inspectors make you sign an agreement prior acknowledging their report is a professional opinion, but I feel that the one done for my house was a complete waste of money. I'm actually surprised because I work in real estate and Pillar to Post has a good reputation. I won't take that chance again with my next house.
Joe Brandli and his team are thoughtful, approachable, and comprehensive home inspectors. He is responsive and professional with communication. Additionally, Joe provides architectural advice that starts with listening well. He is highly competent with his design. I have referred two friends to Joe who have used him on challenging home projects, and both friends are pleased. I would use Joe again.

This provider came highly recommended by the realtor. That should have been a red flag! He provided exactly what the realtors wanted which was an inspection that was completedly useless. We are now more than 3 years past the jnspection date and and have uncovered many issues that should have been brought to light such as rotten pipes and radiators and erroneously listing heating system as middle age in life expectancy when it was apparently at the end of its life expectancy. Others issues missed include missing a rotting column from the house addition, an uneven foundation, the shoddy porch foundation; the list goes on. All of this resulted in thousands of dollars needing to be spent, including an oil system that had to be converted to gas.The provider's report included mainly pictures and boxes checked and had 1 sentence descriptions if any and reflected an approach that barely skimmed the surface of inspecting the house. In conclusion, the provider's lack of thoroughness resulted in our inability to negotiate better at the closing table. Additionally, the provider did not show the professionalism expected in that his verbal readout to us as clients was absent. In fact, he spoke more to the realtors, including trying to drum up business from the seller's realtor!
Response from Pillar To Post - The Brandli Team
"While many of my referrals come from Realtors, I take care to present an honest, unbiased investigation and report on the house to accurately inform the client of the deficiencies and liabilities. My inspection services are typically considered thorough based on constant feedback that I receive, and this is what I strive for in my reports. The Pillar to Post system exceeds the scope of an ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) defined inspection. Often, people do not understand the limits of a visual inspection and approach it with unrealistic expectations. We can only report on what is observable at the time of the inspection and cannot predict the future of specific items. Lifespans of items are limited to our best professional opinion based on the investigative information available at the time of inspection. I am always happy to speak directly with clients that feel dissatisfied to see if I can help in any way."

I used pillar to post to inspect my house before I purchased it. The inspector was prompt and professional. The problem is that he missed a few major visible issues. I've had roof work done and am currently dealing with a major hvac issue. All of which were very visible to a trained eye. No I would not recommend there services to anyone.

We had a great experience using this company, even our realtor commented how thorough the inspection was. Jordan took his time and answered all our questions. He was very knowledgable and took photos to accompany all written information. The binder provided us will be helpful to keep all home info organized in the future. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone in need of home inspection services.

Joe Brandli's services were recommended to us by our real estate agent, and when we met Joe, we found him friendly, honest, and knowledgeable -- and we continue to think highly of him as a person. But now that we've been living in our house for slightly more than a year, we do sometimes wish that we'd worked with a different home inspector.
To be fair, it was obvious that the house would need some fixing up, and Joe pointed out a number of things that needed to be addressed, including loose insulation in the attic, a crack on the back porch, and, most importantly, a large amount of mold inside an upstairs closet and also in the Air Handler.
However, Joe's report did not include mention the decay of the cement porch behind the house (at the time of Joe's inspection, the iron supports underneath the porch were almost entirely rusted out), or the significant damage to the basement walls caused by moisture. After we'd been in the house for a few weeks, a contractor pointed out that the lower portion of one of the basement walls was almost completely saturated with water and asked, "Didn't you have a home inspection?"
Joe missed some other details that weren't nearly as serious -- a cracked toilet, for example -- but the fact that these details didn't make it into his report reinforces our sense that he probably wasn't as careful as he should have been.

It was great and I appreciated how thorough Jordan was and the advice he gave on what I could ask the seller for in terms of repairs. He made a potentially stressful activity much easier.

Jordan Bird was our inspector and came as a recommendation from our Realtor which was a great referral. He had everything laying out for us when we arrived to the home that we are in the process of purchasing. He asked us what our concerns were about the house and explained what he was going to do and that we could follow behind him if we would like to. I did stand with him for a concern I had with a wall but after that I figured I'd let the man just do his job. Jordan did stop half way through the inspection to give us an update on what he had found so far which was considerate since these things can consume a little time and it was nice to know how it was going. Overall, he was clean, professional and very nice. My wife and I were very happy with him and the service he provided.

I have used Pillar to Post (Joe) twice for a home inspection and we would use him again in the future.
To begin, he is punctual and professional. As the inspection is performed, he answers all questions and concerns. At the end of the inspection I was clear with the findings and issues. Also, a very professionally written, clear report is provided which details all finding from the inspection. When you hire an inspector for a home, you need an honest person to carefully and thoroughly inspect the house, then clearly inform you of the findings and concerns. This is exactly what you get when you hire Joe from Pillar to Post.
