It went incredibly well. Stephen came out to look at the townhome the day after we spoke on the phone. He provided a quote that day and started the very next day. Three days later the entire townhome was painted. They removed all the outlet covers and painted behind the appliances (e.g., refrigerator). Fantastic job and I would definitely recommend them.

The job went well. Professional services was provided. Workers were on time and worked to meet the scheduled timeline. The best products were used for quality and longevity and to ensure customer satisfaction. The pricing was competitive and fair.

I genuinely don't know where to begin... Steve responded very quickly to my request for a painting quote and came out that same week to view the work to be done. I received the quote very quickly. I chose Steve, Platinum Elite Services, based on other reviews and ignored the few bad reviews on Thumbtack. Truly wish I had not ignored those negative reviews. While this will likely be a very lengthy review I will try to sum it up quickly in the beginning... Steve is the most unprofessional person I have ever worked with in any respect. In the beginning I found his constant interrupting and lack of listening as frustrating but not a reason to lack his ability to get the job done. Please note that Steve will not be doing any of the work. He sent 3 guys out to paint our dining room, kitchen, laundry room, hallway, eating area, and high loft living room and ceiling over a 3 day period. They did a poor quality paint job most places, the cutting-in was horrible (which Steve admitted in the end), and they got paint drops, splatter and streaks on our new washer & dryer, most door and window casing (none of which was going to be painted), our laundry room door, our kitchen counter tops, refrigerator, oven & cooktop, kitchen sink faucet & sprayer, kitchen cabinets, door knobs, carpet, banister, ceiling vents (which should have easily been removed), bookshelves, sofa, chair, and numerous other places that are not worth mentioning. I genuinely could not believe the mess they made, and left. I should not have assumed they would clean up after themselves which they said they would after we complained following day one. On Day 3 we had to leave early to go out of town and the crew had not completed the job yet so I trusted them to finish as we discussed and clean the place up. I also left Steve a check for the cost of the job minus $200 (because they were to return after our new floors were installed and paint all newly installed baseboard). When we returned on Sunday evening we were horrified by the state of our house. Paint was on something every time we turned around, not a single switch plate or outlet plate was reinstalled and there was a giant mess to clean up. I spent the next 4 hours cleaning just the kitchen from all of the paint splatter and smears. Nor did they complete painting the ceiling in our living area and loft. Steve returned the following Monday to assess the situation and said "I will get this fixed. All I want is for you to be happy and I will get this fixed." He also accused the crew he hired of "getting angry at contractors and screwing up jobs on purpose to get back at us for the money we make..." (paraphrasing). Steve also shared with us that this same crew screwed him over on a "$9,000 job" a few months before. My immediate thought was "why in the world would you let this crew in my house!?" if that was his experience with them. We told Steve we thought one guy on that crew did an ok job and he alone was allowed to come back into our home and finish painting the ceiling. Steve followed up by letting me know that gentleman was available that Saturday to come out. Unfortunately we were not available that day and I let Steve know, though I never heard back from my message through Thumbtack or text to his phone (I am posting all Thumbtack conversations below in this review). After not hearing from Steve for 4 days I sent him a message through Thumbtack that I am officially requesting a return of $600 from our payment to him due to the work we are having to do cleaning our home as well as having to hire a new painter to finish painting our ceiling. My wife and I are also having to paint all window casing, door casing, bookshelves, and touching up most walls when our plan was not to have to paint any woodwork except the new baseboards. In my message to Steve I let him know that if I did not hear back from him I would have to assume the answer is no and would be contacting a lawyer to discuss options. It is less due to getting the money and more because I do not understand how someone could care so little and have so little respect of others and their home. My wife spoke with Steve earlier this week, unaware of the message I sent earlier (my fault), and asked Steve again to schedule someone to come out and finish our ceiling. Steve assured her that he would let her know by tomorrow (Tuesday, September 27th) when someone would be able to come out. I then let my wife know of the message and she called Steve back to ask if he had received my message or text. He responded "no"... that he has been out of the country and his assistant had been checking messages. She then reiterated that we needed to know by Tuesday. On Wednesday, September 28th, my wife called Steve (having not heard back from him) to let him know he did not return to us with a schedule as promised and that my message to him stands. She said "we are requesting $600 of our money back from you..." (she had more to say but was interrupted with "That's not going to happen". She then let him know that all communication with us will be through me from now on. I then called Steve later that day and calmly let him know that if he is not willing to return $600 of our initial payment then I will need to contact a lawyer... his response... "then you go ahead and do that" and he hung up. Again... the point is not the money, the point is a complete lack of ethics. I would be ok with him admitting they royally screwed up. I would even be ok if he offered to pay $5 a month until it was paid. But taking my money for doing a complete crap job that I have to hire someone else to finish, along with weeks worth of work on cleanup and painting by me and my wife is just ridiculous. I am fully aware that I probably won't be willing to pay a lawyer what they ask to get this taken care of but I am going to try because it is unethical. My belief is that Steve is a conman, my wife does not believe that at all. She believes he is just not a good business man. Either way my suggestion would be to please choose another source for your work, regardless of what it is. If you do choose Steve to work for you I truly hope you have a good experience as this is disappointing and I don't understand it. Please know I rarely leave reviews, and I am even more hesitant to leave bad reviews because they effect peoples well-being and should only be shared when truly necessary. On a positive note, if you need any flooring work done please reach out to Ralph with Installer Direct here on Thumbtack as he and his crew did a fantastic job on our floors. ... if you read this far I am impressed and I appreciate your time. Oh yeah, and they stole my large canvas drop. I let Steve know multiple times... oh well. (Please see the full review on Thumbtack as there are not enough characters available to post the conversation)

Jack came right on time, and finished very quickly. He worked hard the whole time, and answered all of my questions. He was very professional. Steven called during the job to check that everything was going well. The paint job was terrific, and it was not easy-tall entry and over steps. Great experience! Thank you!

Stephen was responsive and set up work for the next day which was great because I was in a time crunch. The crew did a great job with the trim and doors which was fantastic because they needed the work. Some nitpicky things were around cleanliness but I made that known and Stephen went out of his way to clean up those spots. Overall very satisfied and would recommend.

They were okay. The paint job itself was good. I didn't care for the painter or the things he said. He actually had me pay him more money. It was an additional $75.

"Thank you for your Business. I arrived at the homes home. I requested to see the scope of work she wanted to complete within my 7 hrs. The customer showed me her dining room with extensive trim. i asked her more than once if this is all she wanted me to paint , she responded yes, this is all. I completed the project and then she started to show me some other trim, she would like to have painted. Even though i asked her several times before ,of any additional work, in which she replied no: i completed the extra trim and left for the day. Thanks Again."

"Thank you for the review. The deal that you purchased was a door and trim for 7 hrs of labor. In that allotted time i painted, eight doors, eight door jambs and trim baseboards in 2 bathrooms. i arrived at 8.40 am and at 4:10 pm you asked me to paint another 2 office doors, i said i could but would need extra. You didnt seem like you wanted to pay extra but wanted me to stay and paint for another hour or so. when i had already fulfilled my oblgation to the Angies List deal for $199. Thank you for your business and God Bless!"

We purchased the Angies List Deal of $199 for 8 hours of 1 painter or 4 hours of 2 painters. Steve was quick to respond to the Angies List Deal that I purchased as well as throughout scheduling, always responding within a matter of hours. I corresponded with Steve about what I would like to have done, room dimensions and what was feasible. Based on the room sizes, he said he could do two of the rooms. He called the night before and told me he was bringing an extra painter and could do all three rooms for an additional fee for the 3rd room.
He showed up on time (8:30am) and we reviewed the job and paint colors (cans of paint had been already put in both of the bedrooms and I explained the differences and what was to be used where) prior to his other painters arriving at 9:00am. Since there were additional painters, he said the deal would cover their work for 4 hours and agreed again to the two bedrooms. There were no questions or concerns raised during this time about what I was asking them to do. At 11:45, he notified me that they would only be able to complete 1 room for the day (smaller bedroom, where I had two colors done) and could come back for the second room (larger bedroom) for an additional fee. I do not understand why I was not notified of this earlier as - at that point - they were already 2 hours, 45 minutes into the job. We agreed to have him come back the next day for the additional room. That night when the paint dried in the first bedroom, we realized they used two different paints (one was a different strength of the same color, which was clearly labeled and had been placed in the second bedroom which we went over that morning). The next morning, Steve arrived alone to complete the second bedroom on his own and we reviewed this with Steve and even pointed it out on the walls and he tried to blame this on us, when I clearly spent time laying out the paints in the correct bedrooms and walking him through the expectations the first morning of the work. Steve took care of the mistake and corrected the paint color in the first bedroom and painted the second bedroom and closet - all on his own - in less time than it took the 3 men the previous day as part of the "Angies List Deal."
Long story short. I do believe Steve/Platinum Elite Painters does good work and the mix-up of paint was a mistake that he did take care of. HOWEVER, buyer beware if you are hiring him for an "hourly" job or a "fee per room" job. We definitely felt taken advantage of in the fact that they did 1/3 of the work with 3 people as part of the "hourly deal" that we purchased, and we had to spend even more money to get the second room done, plus the corrections on the first room which were completed in less time.

Response from Platinum Elite Painters
"Thks for the review. My only response to this is , you told me over the phone about a possible third bedroom to be painted and that you needed to get this done. In that light, i brought two painters to see what we coulds do to accomplish to satisfy your needs. There were only two painters painting that day, when i arrived you also threw into a mix a third accent color on one wall , which took more time than expected. I was not informed of this ,over the phone. So, on the first day, i fulfullied my obligation, to the Angie's list deal of 2 painters per 4 hrs, which included 1 bedroom with a closet and a accent wall. I came back the second day as the owner, taking care of his customer and painted an oversized bedroom and closet with some 2 big patchs which required two coats of mud, drytime, sanding & priming. I as the owner pushed my self to complete this within a 7 hrs) as wanting to keep a satisfied customer, i did all this for an extra $250. I dont think this is unreasonable in the painting Industry, in fact you still got a great deal, as far as i see. The correct value on this work would proberly be in th $550-$600 range. God Bless and thank you for your business. Steve Rogers Platinum Elite Painters"

Perfect gentlemen. Showed up right on time, had all the supplies except paint of course. Pointed out spots I hadn't noticed and repaired first before he painted my powder room walls. His suggestions were invaluable and I was so glad I listened to the expert. Would definitely use him again.
