Expected me to pay big money for an extended warranty because the equipment is so junky, they warned I can expect expensive repairs if I didn't buy the warranty since the manufacturer warranty is wimpy. They should either install quality parts to begin with or choose a different career. Four years later I noticed the electrical cable to the outside condenser is too short and asked them to replace it. They said it's been too long ago and accused me of wanting free work, but that's not true, they should redo things the right way regardless of time and I already prepaid many thousands for the original job. Don't overpay for low quality, inefficient ducted in hot attic systems. That idea is ignorant and environmentally irresponsible compared to mini splits in hot Florida it should be illegal. You can buy your own mini splits that offer MUCH better energy efficiency and zoned rooms and install yourself with certain skills and permits. Mr. Cool sells the easiest DIY kits at Costco.com, etc. (or) hire a different professional. If you install yourself, you will be able to maintain yourself and never again hire anyone to come out for maintenance. There would never be any more filters to buy (mini splits are washable). Also mini splits can be powered by generators during power outages. But do note you need to drill a 2.5 to 3" hole in the wall (not easy through concrete and hammer drill required) and use 1/2" PVC for drain (not the provided drain hose). Four years ago I asked the Polar Bear Cooling & Heating rep if it would make more sense to go with mini splits and he said no. Later I found out he was dead wrong!!!! Now I'm stuck with an expensive but yet worthless SEER1 central ducted system. SEER2 is the new standard, but is still *extremely terrible* regarding ducted compared to mini splits.

Paul and Gary were excellent. Extremely professional and explained and demonstrated all aspect of the work being done and why it was needed. I will certainly recommend, and have already, their services to anyone needing a/c work. Most would agree that people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care and happily Paul and Gary with Polar Bear Air hit both categories 100%...caring, knowledgeable, honest professionals. They are a credit to you for recommending them to us. Doug Rushing

Excellent! I called at 8:30 pm and Alex answered :) saying he would be here at 9:00 am the following morning. He arrived promptly and got right to work, he checked out all components (even climbed in the attic to fix a collapsed duct). He tweaked a few things and told us that the system is in very good shape for a 12 year old system and we could probably get by for another couple of years before replacing. I pressed him for a price when and if we need a new system, his price was excellent for a great brand system with 10 year parts/labor included! Whew, what a relief, as it just isn't in the budget right now. Our a/c is freezing cold right now. Can't say enough about how knowledgeable, professional and HONEST he was! We'll be loyal customers from now on and will refer him to everyone we know!!! Professional, knowledgeable and HONEST are hard to come by these days!

Our AC went out in the heat of July. They were out the same day and charged the system. After a day, it was down again. We ordered a new system. They were out everyday to charge the system so we wouldn't boil, until a new coil came in, at no charge.. They installed the coil as a substitute coil for the leaky one as a stopgap until out system came in, at no charge. After installation, they made two more trips to make sure the system was working properly. Alex and his team were professional in every way.

Cut old lines without evacuating refrigerant letting it escape into the air. against the law to do this. asked for a programmable thermostat but they did not have on truck said they would install later. system had a cavitation that vibrated the wall in bedroom. called Alex the owner and he arranged to come by said I needed another cold air return. set appointment they did not show. called Alex again no answer. called Alex again finally set up appointment. two months after first work done they finally completed the return for cold air. still did not have programmable thermostat on truck. almost 3 months and no programmable thermo. no explanation from Alex. Had a problem mid September called Alex and got a voicemail. I left a message for Alex but almost 2 weeks and I have not heard from Alex. I would not let them work for me ever and would like to see their license revoked. very un professional. Alex got my money but did not care after he was paid. They did not clean up very well and did a shoddy job putting in a drip pan to catch moisture dripping from air handler.
Alex Kirichenko's crew was efficient, quiet and clean. We have used them before on warranty work 10 years ago and more recently for some rental property AC installations and repairs. We have never had a problem with Polar Bear and have always been pleased with their work. Their price was several thousand below our closest bid even with an upgrade to heat pumps. Others priced straight ACs with electric strip heating only.
They are great. They don't rip you off or hound you, they just go out there and fix it, and then they send you a bill. They are great, I like them. If your stuff is in warranty, they make sure they check that first, and then they don't bill you, and they don't charge a lot for freon. They just fill it up, and then they see what happens, and don't charge you for two weeks.

Person who came was very punctual and courteous. He told us there was probably a few years left to the air conditioner and didn't try to push extra parts or service not needed. We asked for a quote on a new unit and he suggested we buy a unit from a manufacturer that has the best warranty and stands by the warranty since most units manufactured today are about the same as far as quality. He quoted us the price and installation for new unit and size we would need for our home. We will probably contact Polar Bear again next year for a new unit.
Polar Bear Cooling Heating came to our home to fix our A/C, they have yet to come back out and complete the job. Our pipes were cut in the process and still having a water puddle in our home. They have left us out of the loop for three days, and refuse to come back out to our home. I spoke with the owner of the company, and he began to argue with me and disconnected the call. I am very upset with this company, and disappointed to experience this service from a high rated company from Angie List.

Our ac would run and run my husband that is an engineer and works out of town already know what it was but ran out of time to fix it. We were manually tuning it off. I called a few ac repair places first thing in the morning Polar Bear was the first one to answer their phone. They had someone at our house in less than an hour. The tech diagnosed the switch right away and replaced it within minutes. I am not easily impressed but Polar Bear Cooling and Heating was exceptional

I have a Rental property in Englewood. The Air Conditioner was making very loud noises. I contacted another company who sent out a service person. I was told that the Compressor was bad and would need replaced. $2900.00 for compressor, but as the unit was over 20 years that they recommended replacing all for cost of $4000.00. I contacted Polar Bear Cooling for a second opinion. He repaired unit for $110.00. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!!
When I purchased this home, the heating and air-conditioning system was a 1970s model which generated an enormous electrical bill. Upon consultation with the company, the owner in particular, we elected to purchase a new system which has had remarkable improvement in the overall enjoyment of temperature control in the house plus a substantially less electric bill. Incidentally we also purchase from and had installed a pool heat pump which works magnificently. We were aware that heating the water in a swimming pool would increase our electrical bill, but the equipment provided is quite moderate and running cost plus we enjoy an extended swimming season because of it. The equipment for the home and the pool was acquired quickly and each item was installed and functioning perfectly in one day for each item. We are very satisfied with the ability of this local company to do superior work.

As stated before, from the time I called Polar Bear that morning to the time the repair was made, the house didn't even have time to heat up before it was repaired. To give this technician additional recognition, he very graciously and sheepishly allowed me to point out to my guests how much he looked like the actor Tony Danza. We would definitely use this company again as the quickness saved my guests from sweltering in the Florida July heat and the cost was very reasonable. "Mr Danza" was exceptional in being very professional and friendly without being arrogant, pushy or saleslike.

They got the best price and he was $1000 to $1500 cheaper than everybody else. They were great and they came in the following day to do the job. They did really neat work. As a matter of fact the real estate agent wants his number because he couldn't believe I could put central air for that price. He also told me about a rebate for upgrading the air conditioning system that Florida has which the other guys didn't tell me about. Alex Kirichenkl is the owner and he's great. Even if I didn't use them again I would refer them to other people.

We were pleased with the estimate. They met the work schedule as they had laid it out. We were pleased with the end result of the unit; it seems to be working quite efficiently. Overall we were very well pleased with not only the product but the value we got for the price. There was a manufacturer's rebate and a tax credit that we signed up for. We would certainly recommend them.
