Tile: Ceramic and Porcelain - Install
$1,000
Steven and Max were great! They came to do the estimate for installing kitchen backsplash when they said they would. Once we had the quote, I had additional questions and concerns. They were very prompt in their replies to my questions. We were not able to schedule until 2 weeks after I decided to go with Polaristile. I sent one text about three days before to confirm the day and time, they replied within minutes to confirm. We provided all the materials for the project. They made it very clear exactly what I needed to buy. When they arrived, they took great care in making sure all the granite, floors, and cabinets were protected with coverings. They estimated the project would take 2 days and they finished in a day and a half. I reviewed my expectations about the placement of the tile with Steven. Due to the size of the tile he had to make a few adjustments, but he communicated that to me BEFORE he proceeded. We are very pleased with the final result.

Steven was seemingly nice. We hired him through Angie’s list, but he wanted cash. I came home from work and there was a 10-12 year old child helping him do the work. They not only left the job partially done, but they destroyed FOUR large tiles and left huge cuts and cracks from the tile saw. The job was done so poorly that I was horrified to call this contractor back. We left with an even more destroyed floor with far more damage. The original tile pattern has been discontinued so we cannot even replace the custom tile. Stay away from this very sketchy guy and his under aged chile

"It is unreasonable to blame us for a cracked floor tile three 3 years after the service was completed. At the time, the home had five dogs, and the floor was in one of the worst conditions we’ve ever encountered—covered in dog hair, grease, animal urine, and feces. Despite that, we did our best and even provided another free re-grouting services to help improve the situation. We kindly ask others to disregard this review, as it does not reflect the reality or the effort we put into our work."

Steven seems like a nice enough guy and he seems to have sufficient technical knowledge of tiling. That said, Steven either has very low detail focus or exerts as little effort as possible (I truly don't know which). He does only "OK" work on his own (some uneven tiles and non-uniform grouting) but wants the customer to work side-by-side with him throughout the job to tell him whenever he does something that the customer believes is unacceptable. His justification for this is that "everyone has different opinions" about what is acceptable. So, if you aren't diligent in catching poor work, you will get merely an OK job. To be fair, he will gladly fix customer-identified problems. If you have the time and desire to work with him throughout the job to point out problems, then he may fine. If you, like us, are busy, are not a price buyer, and want a motivated professional who delivers objectively high-quality tile work with minimal "babysitting", you should probably look elsewhere.

"First, I tried my best to help you finish the job you started two years ago. There was really no need for me to spend my time helping you finish a job that you started but couldn’t complete. Not only did it cause me a lot of trouble, but it also wasted time I could have used for tasks with better returns and better results if I could do it from scratch. Second, I provided you with many additional services beyond the agreed quote: I cut the tiles you left unfinished, polished the floor you didn’t complete, went to the store to buy items for you, returned unnecessary materials, and even discarded the trash in your garage, which was not part of my job. Finally, when it came time to settle the bill, I even offered you a discount, which you declined. I don’t think you have any grounds to feel wronged by the selfless help I provided. However, I understand that everything is neutral, and we’re simply viewing the situation from different perspectives. That said, I hope you reflect on this. What you put out is what you get back. Your life is still long, and your soul’s journey might just be beginning. As a young soul, it’s important to value mutual understanding, tolerance, and gratitude in your interactions with others. This is the foundation of our connections as human beings. I wish you success and growth moving forward."

Steven was very professional in his work. I sent him pictures, and he was able to give me a quote over the phone. Lucky for me he was in my area the next day and was able to get me in as his last appointment. Not only did he replace the caulking in our shower stall, he also touched up the grout and fixed a couple areas right outside the shower for no extra charge. Our shower looks like new again, and he did it in less than 3 hours. Beautiful work done by a beautiful soul. Thank you, Steven! ?
