The final job was satisfactory. In discussing the jon at the beginning, they complained about the patching work done by a previous contractor. They asked me if I had done the work, in a snarky way.
They had to go out and purchase the gutter and supplies (I reimbursed them) which used up a fair amount of the time I was to have in the offer (4 hours) and when I discussed other things they might do in the 4 hours, they declined, stating those items were excluded from the offer or beyond what they could do (for ex, some door weatherstripping). I was very happy they did offer to come back and move a shed. It was an additional fee that I felt was very reasonable and well done. It all evened out when added together.

From the start Albert was abrasive and upset with the terms that he agreed to with Angie's List for this Big Deal. That attitude poisened the working relationship from that point on. He performed around 20 hours of the 40 hours of carpentry work that the deal included before busting out into a profanity laced tirade against Angie's List and Myself. He then left and I have not heard from him since.

There was some minor conflict over the scheduling of the appointment. The contractor was not pleased with the fact that I had some limitations in my schedule. When he called to make an appointment, he wanted to tell me when he would come without asking first whether I would be available on the date he had chosen. I was going to be out of town, so I told him that time wouldn't work. He said he'd already made up his schedule and he'd have to move everything around. That didn't seem like a problem to me, since I felt he should have asked me when I would be available before making his schedule. After that, the two men who came to do the work showed up when we agreed they should and did the work in a timely fashion. I was not entirely satisfied with the fact that I paid for eight hours of work and got only six to seven hours of work total. However, they did complete the repairs that we agreed they would do to my satisfaction. I said I wouldn't use this company again, but that's only because "Not Sure" wasn't an option. I was pleased with the work they did, but I would be more careful about the specifics of scheduling and the amount of time I paid for before beginning. I would also get more estimates of work from more companies, but I don't intend that to be a reflection on Power Construction. In fact, for future work, I would probably choose to get an estimate from them, too.
We had them come out and install laminate wood flooring for us. They didn't seem to have much knowledge in laminate flooring and ruined a few of the pieces. Also they took off our door frames, had they read the instructions, they wouldn't have had to do so. When they put our door frames back, they left it so messy and caulk was everywhere (even on our new flooring) that we had to sand it down and repaint everything. Although they were friendly, I would not recommend them.
He is very intimidating against single woman. I needed the job done quickly and he was available. I didn't realize what the issue was until my insurance agent came to look at the apartment. Once my agent came his attitude change immediately. When the man was in the apartment I was unable to go in and check on things. I had to buy extra material because he is very wasteful. He didn't complete the job and I had to find someone else.

Went well, arrived on time, worked quickly, cleaned up and repainted the walls. A lot of other places weren't interested in such a small job, so I was happy Power construction took the job. Also, they were willing to work on a Saturday. I was very happy with the price and results.
Easy and speedy service. No complaints. I provided fan, they installed in already wired outlet in ceiling. There was a little difficulty with bracket in ceiling matching with new fan. They figured it out pretty quickly and solved with some extra parts they had in their truck - always a plus when contractors can think on their feet AND have extra parts in the truck :)) Fan working and looking great.
I called to schedule and an appt was made for a Saturday which helped me alot. Two technicians came and three old fans were taken down and three new ones were up in about an hour and fifteen minutes...they were knowledgeable, efficient and cleaned up all the mess and took the trash!!! Love my new fans....
When the people arrived for this stucco work, I discovered that unknowingly, I had used this company for another package special I previously purchased: "$1,499 for a General Contractor for a Week." As a result of this, I expected the same degree of professionalism and quality of work as I had received then. Unfortunately, according to the contractor, the package didn't say what was meant: "$299 for 1 Day of Exterior Stucco/Plaster Repair or Installation!" I was told that it meant 8 hours of labor divided among the number of stucco workers. In this case that mean the contractor plus 2 workers, or approximately 2⅔ hours each. Because the stucco requires the initial coating, letting it dry, and returning for a finishing coat, that would mean approximately 1⅓ for each part of the process ... PER PERSON. I highlight that per person, because in no way did I receive the work of 3 people for those amounts of time. If I received the amount for just one person, I would say at least I received some measure of value. Unfortunately, I can not say that. The number of hairline and larger cracks that were "repaired" could not have taken even one person 2⅔ hours of their time. I had asked this contractor to give me a bid for several other projects, which he gave, but after the stucco experience I decided not to use his services again. This in no way invalidates the high quality and expert craftsmanship I received from other work he has performed for me. I believe this particular offer and its mis-statement caused him a lot of unhappy customers, and that dissatisfaction was reflected in the work he performed for me, thus creating yet another unhappy customer.

I recieved a call from Albert today. It was very unprofessional. Rather than talking to me about what he can do to fix things, he started complaining to me and making excuses. He was blaming me for this negative report.

He was stellar as a general contractor but his stucco work isnt as great.
Response from P.O.W.E.R. Construction
"People really need to read the fine print on contracts and understand them before they put the blame on someone else for their own negligence. What amazes me more is that I did work for this customer under another project under a coupon purchase and she understood how it worked but as soon as she did not receive the amount of stucco repair she wanted which was almost a complete stucco redo she was looking for an excuse to write something bad about me. It does upset when I receive reports like this because I try to do what is best, but the bottom line is that I am in business and I can not do things for free."

Power Construction responded quickly to my phone call, arrived when promised, gave me a detailed explanation of what they would do and did the job promptly and well. The only caveat would be that they did not remove the broken glass from the one window that had been shattered (NOT by them!). This may have been a communication issue. Long story short, I was so pleased with their work that I called them again to fix another issue. I'll review that job at another time.
The company was very unprofessional and did sloppy work. I would not recommend them to anyone.
Response from P.O.W.E.R. Construction
"Every one that purchased the coupon read and was well informed on the way it worked including the member. Time was supposed to star when I arrived to do work this means go retrieve materials if needed. As far as the nails go he was supposed to have them there so when we arrived he was unprepared therefore, I had to go get some to use. At this time I informed him that it would be an extra expense. One important piece of information, is that he lives way out of town and it took time to get to his place so when I got a flat tire I tried to change to my spare tire but when I removed my spare from the wrack it was flat also. By the time I got situated it was to late in the day to drive out to his place and work so I called him and explained situation. He says that we worked fast and rushed but the one thing he does not mention is that his barn was a filthy mess full of horse poop and was a terrible place to work so we were trying to get done as fast as we could get out of that situation. This is not an excuse but any one in there right mind would have ran away. I can honestly say that if it was not for my obligation to angies list I would have declined to do work."

When they worked he did get the job done. We had misunderstanding on
what I thought could get accomplished in the time we had purchased with
the deal going on.
His work was professional when completed. And he cleaned up after himself.
I
was not happy that he would take off to get something for the job and
it took a lot longer than needed. His attitude was not professional, he
complained to us.
My husband and I had a very negative experience with a previous contractor.
To make sure we did not repeat that experience, Angie's List helped us in making our decision to contact Albert, the owner of Power Construction. We have not experienced one moment of regret.
The first job Albert did for us was in repairing and building up our cinder block fence. It was well done and met not only with our satisfaction, but the satisfaction of our neighbors sharing our fence line. (I realize this website discourages us from mentioning our neighbors' opinions, but in this type of build which affects more than ourselves, the integrity the build on BOTH sides of the fence cannot be ignored.) Our yard was cleaner after they completed the job than it had been before they arrived to start the job.
The second job we asked of Albert was to build a shed of high quality. Before starting the project, Albert discussed things with us in full: He helped us be better consumers by talking us through the details such as, "Where would we like the window(s) and/or skylight?" True to his word, he started on time. He always made time for our questions while the work was being done. He and Joseph worked well together. (I'm not sure how one gets these two to stop and take a break: They work and work and work! BUT, whether it's early or late into their day, the quality of their work is constant.)
As the shed was being built, we asked Albert to add a work bench and shelving. This changed the amount of bid, but not by too much: He did not use that as an opportunity to take advantage of us price-wise. I think this is another aspect of the way Albert conducts business that speaks about his degree of integrity.
Albert's company is also about the qualities of professionalism, depth of construction knowledge and skill, knowledge and adherence to building codes, use of quality materials, and fulfilling all promises. We had no reason to "find fault" with his work, but he would not consider the job completed until we were satisfied. We are sooooo satisfied we hope the next time we contact Albert, it will be to discuss remodeling inside the house.
Yessiree! We are officially fans of Albert and Power Construction!!! Our resounding thanks to Power Construction.
