Disaster. Start date 07/16 and 5 months later, we are just to drywall. We paid him approximately $84,000 thus far and as of 12/08 he informed us that he cannot finish the job and that he spent the money elsewhere. We are out $43K-$45K. Needs to be removed from Angie's List.

For the work they did and how good it was, I would give them a 5. It was delayed because what they ordered came back and it wasn't ordered properly. There was a delay. They used an electrical switch for the furnace. The electrician they hired tripped the air conditioning and they didn't seem to know what they had done. I had to have a person to come in and fix it. The electrician should have known what he did and should have fixed it. For the work the people from Pro Build did themselves, I would give an A. They should have a better electrician subcontracted.

When Jarod Kennedy came I was pleasantly surprised with his attention to detail, professionalism and experience. He took the time to find out what I wanted and answered all my questions. Jarod provided me an estimate and attached a layout design which really showed that he understood what the final product needed to look like. It was right on target! He also met with me throughout the project to insure everything was going as planned. Having had some rainy and cold temperatures, the employees still showed up and finished the project on time. I also appreciated that they cleaned up nightly before they left. Probuild exceeded my expectations in terms of quality of work and attention to detail, but mostly insuring I was satisfied. I am very happy with my new garden/storage shed and I would not hesitate to refer them. Btw: I have already contracted the company to repair a hallway in my house and expect to use them in future projects.
I met with a number of contractors for this job, but Porter's team won the bid because of their expertise and very helpful suggestions. I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about working with Probuild. Porter and his team were responsive, helpful, and they went way above and beyond. Their attention to detail was surprising - they cleaned up after themselves every day, they were on-site from sunrise to close to sunset. They did things I didn't ask them to do, but they knew would be useful (putting outlets on the outside of the structure even though I didn't ask for it and they didn't charge me for it). The crew they had out for the structural work was fantastic - everyone worked so well together and I could tell they are a team that works together often - it made them so efficient. And not least of all, they were all great guys. So polite and thoughtful. I would not hesitate to use Probuild again, and would recommend them to anyone. (I loved them so much, I made them a pie and requested they take a mid-day break for the snack - just because I needed to find a way to say thank you, beyond just paying them for the job).

Porter Baker, who just has to be the MOST patient and helpful builder, came over on a Friday and had an entire set of drawings for me to peruse the very next day. His team of carpenters/craftsmen/specialists (especially Jarod and Paul and Perry and Eric) along with Bill Cantle, the supervisor, have been ONLY patient, helpful, and efficient. The fellas clean up each day when leaving, they do their work in a personable fashion, and the work is pristine, and they are so helpful in giving me suggestions when I ask their opinions. I was gone for two weeks and when I returned, the inside of my home had been transformed ... they had gone overboard to get it ready for me ... that included scraping popcorn ceilings, painting, new lighting fixtures, new baseboards, and they even dusted the plants to help make it look lovely! Bill is amazing ... stayed in touch with me while I was in India. I have a renter and the men from Probuild have even worked around all our schedules to make life easier for us. Redoing a home is a HUGE investment ... they are making it a lifelong dream come true!
From the first time we spoke with Porter and ask about any task, his response was "we can do that", and he and his
competent crews did everything we ask in a professional, and polite manner. The painters Joe/Roger & Eric helped in every way
possible to not disrupt our daily routines, were very considerate in tidying up before they left and did an amazing job.
Bill the project manager kept us informed on what to expect next and worked out any changes we made and generally
helped us with decisions we needed to make. I would not hesitate to recommend ProBuild to anyone. How nice in todays
world to meet a team of true artisans that give so much value to those that hire them.
They were very thorough and correct in the analysis of the problem. The foreman checked back on the work done by his guy and had him come back around to finish the job up properly. We felt the price was a little high for what turned out to be less work than estimated.
I asked Porter Baker to give me an estimate of a house remodel that I was planning to buy; he was extremelly punctual, he came with with crew that looked every single detail of the huse. He provided a free estimate and a free design on how the house flow will be best based on the budget we gave him. Porter Baker and team work was flawless and spot on; his recomendations were exellente and educated us in what we needed to do to the house. We did not purchased the house but I will hire Porter Baker any time becase of how professional he was in everything he did for us.
Porter and his team were excellent to work with. Ours was a small job, but they fit us in quickly and were professional, clean, and very respectful of our space. We requested a bid on a larger job as well, and Porter went above and beyond delivering every option we could consider, with very detailed renderings. They were in and out in 2 days. Bill, the manager on the job, was very communicative, and we were included in every step of the process. I would highly recommend this contractor and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for a larger project.

These guys are crazy good!!! Incredibly fast. Amazing detail work. Not one drop of paint got on anything else. Not an easy feat. The crew was amazing. Not only did they do an outstanding job, but you could tell that they not only enjoyed what they were doing, but very proud of their work as well. That means when your heart's invested in it you're going to do your absolute best job. My husband used to be a professional painter himself so he really paid attention. They were so good that we've had them back for 2 other projects as well. We couldn't be happier. Thanks!

I purchased a big deal coupon for this company. It went superb. Those guys are suburb contractors. They are just fabulous. They did the install on the kitchen and it came out fabulous.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. They did a very good job and came out promptly to take a look at my house because one of my big questions had to do with the fine print of the Big Deal dealing with the square footage of my house. They did an estimate on my house when they came out and said they could do the entire house for the quoted price. Another detail was that the deal only included a maximum of two colors and it if I wanted a third color it would cost extra. We wanted the doors to be painted blue and got with the gentleman from Probuild who went to a paint company and got a close match to the color we wanted. They did the third color at no extra charge. At one point they were supposed to do the job one day so they stared putting protective material on the windows so they would not get paint on them. They actually called me because I was not at home and told me the weather was not good so they asked for my okay for them to come back the next day, which was better in the long run because I would get better results. I agreed, so they came back and ended up doing a real good job. I am happy with the job they did.

I use Probuild Enterprises LLC to replace a siding in my house in Austin, and I?m very happy with the results. Probuild were very responsible, they find the time to come and take measurement and give me accurate quote with different options. They perform the job on time and update me with the progress. They send me pictures almost on daily basis and finish the job on time. I?ll be happy to give recommendation on this company.
We really enjoyed working with the owner, Porter Baker, and the project manager, Bill. This project has been going on since May, which has been difficult, but the work that has been done has been great. We got stuck in a permit backup with the city of Austin, so it was very slow starting the project, which was frustrating. But, issues that have come up have been dealt with quickly. Probuild has been really helpful in problem solving- we had some repairs that needed to be done, and their carpenters had some great, creative fixes. They worked hard to keep our house safe for us to live in during the remodel, and they kept the job site pretty clean. They seem smart, fair, and helpful. We like the work that has been done and just wish the timing had been a bit quicker.
Porter was the only contractor that came out the same day I called and had a bid within 24 hours. He listened to what I wanted and came back with 2 bids - one for my wish list and one that fit my budget. I am happy with the suggestions he made and am impressed with the workers that came to the house. The job took longer than expect but the quality of the job was worth it. I felt comfortable with being in the house with the workers and leaving them by themselves with a key to the house. I used them again a year ago to remodel the master bath.
The best thing about Porter, is that he will return to repair or fix any issues that come up. I call him for little things that require more experience than a handy man. We had issues with a small flood in our yard during a horrific rainstorm that flooded one side of the house. He came back and replaced baseboard and fixed the wood floors and charged a reasonable price. He is now working on damage caused by a water heater leak. What's great is that he knows what paint and baseboard design I used.
I will use him again when I do future renovations on the house.
I just wish I could bring him to Ohio where I have recently moved to work on my new house.

First of all, I feel like the contractor mislead me when he assured me that all the persons who would would work on my house were his company employees. I thought I was dealing with a full-service company owner instead of a contractor. Secondly, I was told the usual "call me if you have any questions," but I was treated in a rude and patronizing manner when I called to ask when the workers would come after a no-show on an appointed day. The repair work on the doors was not up to standard and overpriced. In fact, I was so dissatisfied with the work on the back door that I negotiated a lower price that was still more than generous on my part.
The deal I actually purchased (the exterior house painting) was an excellent experience once the contractor that I thought wasn't a contractor got the painters to me. The two young men who painted the house were punctual and kept me informed about their coming and going, did neat work, and cleaned up completely when they were finished. They replaced the house numbers they had removed, rewound my hoses they had used, asked permission to leave part of their equipment overnight, etc. I would have loved to have been able to hire them directly and deal only with them because the house painting was an excellent deal!
Response from Probuild Enterprises LLC
"I have never told any customer that I have employees. Like nearly all contractors, I use subs. In our case, the subs we use work for us every day of the year doing tasks and we have great relations with all the people that work with because we keep them busy, treat them with respect, expect high standards of performance and behavior, and pay them above the norm because we expect and get above the norm quality of delivery. It is our team that makes a great full service team. I am proud of these people and consider them like family. But I do not call them employees. I call them our team. Most of the subs that work with us have been working exclusively for us for years. We do not treat people in a rude or patronizing manner as a matter of policy. We handle people's communication with direct and respectful communication. It is unfortunate that she considered it patronizing. We agree that the repair work on her back door was not as good as we would have liked. We originally bid to put in a new back door, but found that some previous contractor had put vinyl siding over the door jambs and made it impossible to replace the door without tearing off the vinyl siding and trying to find some to match which was doubtful. So we did the best we could to repair the door and save her money. It was less than a perfect solution, but her protest about the price is a bit confusing because I told her that I would accept whatever amount she thought the repairs were worth. She set the value herself at well below what it cost me to do the work and I accepted her judgement and her payment of what she thought it was worth. Now she complains that she paid more than she should. We delivered what we could and lost money on the repair at the price she decided it was worth. We did give her added value by repairing at below cost, and saved her the expense of new siding across the back of her house if we had replaced it to put in a new door. She received a fair exchange in the total context of her job. Sometimes people do not appreciate what it takes to make it go as right as you can make it. We are pleased that she thought our painting team did a great job."
