"I don't show in our records that we performed work for [Removed member name]. Perhaps it was another company with a similar name? I do administrative actions for this company and show no record of [member name removed] in our books."
"I have never told any customer that I have employees. Like nearly all contractors, I use subs. In our case, the subs we use work for us every day of the year doing tasks and we have great relations with all the people that work with because we keep them busy, treat them with respect, expect high standards of performance and behavior, and pay them above the norm because we expect and get above the norm quality of delivery. It is our team that makes a great full service team. I am proud of these people and consider them like family. But I do not call them employees. I call them our team. Most of the subs that work with us have been working exclusively for us for years. We do not treat people in a rude or patronizing manner as a matter of policy. We handle people's communication with direct and respectful communication. It is unfortunate that she considered it patronizing. We agree that the repair work on her back door was not as good as we would have liked. We originally bid to put in a new back door, but found that some previous contractor had put vinyl siding over the door jambs and made it impossible to replace the door without tearing off the vinyl siding and trying to find some to match which was doubtful. So we did the best we could to repair the door and save her money. It was less than a perfect solution, but her protest about the price is a bit confusing because I told her that I would accept whatever amount she thought the repairs were worth. She set the value herself at well below what it cost me to do the work and I accepted her judgement and her payment of what she thought it was worth. Now she complains that she paid more than she should. We delivered what we could and lost money on the repair at the price she decided it was worth. We did give her added value by repairing at below cost, and saved her the expense of new siding across the back of her house if we had replaced it to put in a new door. She received a fair exchange in the total context of her job. Sometimes people do not appreciate what it takes to make it go as right as you can make it. We are pleased that she thought our painting team did a great job."
