Nothing was done outside of the demolition (destruction) to my property.

The job started well. However, as things should have been progressing this is when the work started being delayed and the workers were coming to me to be paid stating they hadn’t been paid because they were told I hadn’t paid the project Manager Johan Portilla which was untrue. He continued to stahl. At the date he should have been finished he did not return my materials he stated he had. nor did the workers get paid. He simply walked away with my money and the materials he claimed he had. There was never any proof that he bought the materials that I paid for costing me more money. I’ve had to buy flooring, back splash for my kitchen and still have a new estimate of $47,000 and I still have to pay for the cabinets & quartz countertops $18,500.

Johan Portilla started out very well. Very professional and knowledgeable. He was 5 star rated on Angi's list. He gave me a good price for the work I need done (new room addition and new bathroom addition). He needed 50% up front to "begin buying materials". This was in early November. He did not start due to holidays. January and February he said he was getting permits. I decided to check and learned he had not put in permits and was not licensed. The license number he was using was not his. He later hired a different licensed contractor to put in the permits for my project. I had to pay additional money to put in the plumbing and electrical permits since he was not licensed. He did get the architect plans, engineering plans, and hire a plumber for the first phase. The plumber failed the first inspection and caused water damage to my house when connecting the hot water pipes. After the plumber fixed the issue he caused, Johan promised to fix the drywall and insulation damage at the end of the project. The contractor for the foundation and concrete work left in the middle of the project for non-payment by Johan. Johan turned off his phone and refuses to answer.

Be extremely careful with this contractor, Johan Portilla. It’s been more than two months since 9/26/2023 when I hired him to work on the kitchen project. After paying him 75% of deposits as of today to use the fund to work on the kitchen including purchasing the cabinets crucial to the advancement and completion of the remodeling, I just found out from talking to his cabinet supplier directly he had never sent in the money received from me to purchase the cabinets as he promised he would do. Many misrepresentations and stories have given by Johan in the past two months for the delay of the project which raises questions about his misconduct and potential fraud in mishandling my money entrusted to him. My legal representative is preparing legal action against him for breach of contract. By Monday 12/11/2023 at noon, a letter of demand will be issued to seek refund of my deposit as advised by my legal advisor as first step of legal action if he fails to remit my money to the cabinet supplier for the acquisition of the cabinets. He has put me under lots of stress ever since hiring him: no shows, not returning calls and texts, misleading me to pay him more than the contractual amount, and lying about sending money to cabinet supplier as he was supposed to but never did. I would suggest anyone looking for a contractor stays away from him. It will save yourself lots of headaches and time and stress! Update as of 12/27/2023 From a total nightmare to an absolute disaster – my experience with contractor Johan Portilla is like a horror story you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy. This guy not only trashed our contract by completely blowing off the agreed-upon deadline of 12/20/2023 for our kitchen remodeling, but straight-up vanished off the face of the earth! No calls, no texts, no emails – nada! It's been two whole weeks of radio silence. I'm not taking this lying down. Legal action is in the works because Johan Portilla didn't just mess up our kitchen; he wasted three months of my time since contract signed on 9/27/2023. He is now disappeared, keeping my hard-earned cash that I handed over as a 75% deposit. That's a serious violation of the law, and he's gonna pay for it. I have filed a complaint with Angi yesterday. I will sue him for breach of contract and mishandling of my money, as well as the prolonged distress he put my family and me through for the past three months. I should be home celebrating Christmas with my family back in NYC now. Instead, I have to stay here in Jacksonville by myself, starting all over again with the kitchen remodeling project. Let's be real here – Johan Portilla is more than just a lousy contractor; he's a slick scammer who knows how to play dirty. He stood me up with multiple no-shows and cancelation with a bunch of last minutes excuses in the past three months. He deliberately delayed the progress for his selfish gains. Now he has disappeared on earth all together! Stay a million miles away from this guy and his so-called company. Trust me, the last thing you need is to get tangled up with this con artist. **Please see picture below for the kitchen as of today, 12/23/2023. Three months later and 75% deposit in exchange for a demolished kitchen filled with debris, potholes all over the floor, holes and cracks all over the wall and ceiling with exposed wires hanging. My home is in a state of despair, prone to accidents and hazards.**

Johan and his team are very polite and responsive. A few ups and downs which can be expected with any remodel. But Johan and his his team handled it all. Thanks Pro ProRemodeling. Great job. Tracey Schubert

Purchased a confo at end of January 2023. Had to move out couple months later due to mold infestation. Condo was torn apart from floor to ceiling due to mold remediation. After they finished their work, it looked 100 times better than when I moved in. Johan was the project manager and he kept me informed and when I wanted to change things up he was absolutely fine with it. They aren't cheap but to me they are worth every penny. The final profuct is outstanding. The guys worked really hard and they were all very nice. They took care of all of my furniture and personal stuff that was left there.

Amazing! Cut down my island knee wall to counter height. Now island is all counter height. 30days from 1st text w/Johan to completely done! Love my transformed kitchen and counters, my new all one height island, stunning! Johan is professional & has teams of professionals for all facets of the job. Johan worked with me around my full time job; scheduling demo, doing template, installation of granite counters, sink, moving electric, etc. Will definitely use him again... he is a hidden gem.
