"We at Pro Roofing pride ourselves in delivering a project experience that exceeds the homeowner's expectation. This homeowner's project obviously did not exceed his expectations. This troubles us greatly at PRS. Although we perform numerous projects within a given week, we try to make each homeowner feel as if their project is the only project we have in production. We assign projects to Project Managers in a fashion that geographically and scope-wise makes the most sense for balance. This allows our Project Mangers to be flexible in the sense that they can be on top of multiple projects. In this case, the homeowner's project was in Snellville. We also had a project ongoing in Cobb County. This presented some logistical challenges that were discussed with the homeowner prior to starting his project. We informed him that the goal was to start in Cobb and then transition to Snellville as soon as possible. Our Project Manager was onsite at the first project by 7:30 a.m. and gone by 8:15 a.m. We spoke with the homeowner while in route and he responded as if we had not discussed exactly what was occurring. Our production manager arrived at 9:15 a.m. We like to be onsite by the time the demolition of the existing shingles is complete. This is one of the critical points in that we get a chance to truly evaluate the flashings, decking and any unforeseen issues. We met the day before to make a plan to place tarps strategically, as there is little room in the rear of the property. The homeowner has done a beautiful job of landscaping his back yard, so we did not want to disturb this. The crew had tarps placed exactly where we planned. Upon arriving, the homeowner wanted to be sure the products onsite were the same he paid for. After we confirmed the parts were accurate, he seemed pleased. He had told us over the phone that he did not trust contractors and had been "burned" in the past. We take precautions around the home (OSB to protect plants, screens and air conditioners, tarps laid for siding, landscaping and yard protection) to minimize impact. But the reality is that we have to pull down 4 to 5 tons of construction debris from a high pitched plane; this will sometimes result in a shingle landing in tree or a plastic bag being caught by the wind and blowing twenty five feet from where it originated. Either way, it is our responsibility to make sure we account for and clean/replace anything that is left missing or askew from the original landscape--which we did. We do not want to go line by line to just refute everything the homeowner said. Anytime a homeowner feels compelled to write such a review, we feel we can take it one of two ways. We can yell from the hilltops how this homeowner wanted to control the job from the first move and was difficult at every turn. Or we can realize that we missed an opportunity to win a client for life with good hard work. We like to focus on the latter statement in hopes of learning from each and every experience--to apply those lessons learned so that we can prevent the feeling that this homeowner had. I wish that could benefit the homeowner. If there's anything at all that we can do to better the experience, please do not hesitate to contact me at[phone number removed.
