Last year I moved into a new house with a pool that was neglected by the previous homeowner and it needed a major facelift. As a first time pool owner and knowing nothing about pools, the task seemed overwhelming. So I started calling various pool companies - about 15 in total - to get an opinion and an estimate. About half the companies would either not show up or come by look at the pool and then never get back to me with pricing. The others were either outrageously overpriced or there was something I didn’t like about the company for one reason or another. Then I was referred to Pugliese pool services by the company that did our pool inspection. I called Pugliese and spoke to Alex on a Friday afternoon and he stopped by the next morning. I explained that I basically knew nothing about pools so he sat with me for about 2 hours discussing the pool, the pool equipment and showed me how everything works. He then started to give my options on how to proceed with its renovation, something that none of the other pool companies did. Alex then came back a week later to meet with me and my wife, bringing samples of coping stones, tiles and color chips for the new plaster surface. Once aging he was with us for about two hours going over everything to the finest detail. After Alex left that day I remember turning to my wife and saying I hope his price would be reasonable because I really liked him – he seemed like a straight shooter, he seemed honest, fair and very knowledgeable and passionate about pools. My wife said she had the exact same feeling. There was something about him that really clicked with us. Anyway we received Alex’s proposal about a week later and it was quite fair and reasonable. So I checked his references and did my due diligence on him and his company and I felt really good about hiring him. And I am so happy we did. Alex and his guys were amazing; they were neat, respectful, and true craftsman. They went above and beyond the original scope of work and my pool looks amazing. Alex was there with us every step of the way – even consulting on the landscaping. The pool is up and running now and I know if I ever have any questions or concerns Alex is always a text message or phone call away. Alex is now not only “my pool guy” but he is a good friend.

Pugliese Pool Service resurfaced, retiled, and fixed the coping on our 20 year old Gunite pool this spring. Alex and the crew were fantastic. They came right on time and worked hard to get it done in time for us to open the pool for the season. The crew was very respectful of our property and cleaned up after every workday. Alex was not only our contractor but truly acted as advisor and partner throughout the process, giving us options to consider (not always the most expensive either!) and made sure we were very happy in the end. I received multiple quotes for the work and Pugliese was very competitive and I felt always wanted to do the right thing for us the client (and for the pool). Highly recommended. Planning on using them again next year to replace our pump, heater, filter system.

Wish I had found Pugliese before I hired another contractor to install all the Kool Deck around my pool. First contractor made a mess and when I found Pugliese, the quality of the reinstallation and repair work was fabulous. Alex and staff were extremely professional, gracious, and timely. Any other contractor would have taken advantage of my situation but not Pugliese. Their integrity is unmatched in this industry!!

Pugliesi has been maintaining the pool since they first installed in in 2000 and have always done an excellent job. <br>This is the first time they have done any patio work for me and once again, I was very pleased with the result.

It was a pleasure to work with Alex and his team. Alex stopped by almost every day to check on the job. The crew was phenomenal and very polite. Two of the workers, Edison and Jesus, were very meticulous and did an outstanding job in everything they touched. The site was super clean at the end of each day.  <br /> After coping was done, it became evident that the deck around the pool had sunken in and was not level with the pool anymore (it is 30+ years old). Instead of proposing a new deck, Alex referred me to an unrelated service provider who could lift the concrete slabs for a fraction of the price of a new deck. Pugliese Pool Service did a wonderful job resurfacing and retiling our pool as well as fixing the coping. This was the first major renovation we took on since moving into our house a year ago. We have a large, lovely, pool that was built in 1986, that was functional enough for us to enjoy this first season, but was in need of aesthetic repairs. In addition, we knew we had to have the coping repaired and sealed to avoid damage in the future. <br /> We worked directly with Alex, the owner,  who was very clear and straightforward with his recommendations. When my husband and I were struggling to decide on which color of Diamondbrite to select for the resurfacing, Alex brought us to a few pools in the area ( that his company services) so we could actually see how the two colors we liked looked in a completed pool. That was a huge help since it was hard to make a decision when looking at a 3 x 3 sample. Alex also had several tile samples sent to us so we could hold up the various options we liked in our own pool to help us decide on which tile to select. <br /> Alex and his crew were complete professionals. The crew showed up on time, worked incredibly hard each day, and finished slightly before scheduled, which was fantastic because that allowed us to have one weekend in our pool before closing for the winter. Alex stopped in almost every day to check on things and his crew did a wonderful job keeping things clean and organized. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. <br /> <br /> <br />

<p>Every once in a while you find a contractor who is passionate about what he or she does, performs great work, and is driven to satisfy the customer !  </p> <p>In the summer of 2013 I purchased a house with an existing built in pool. The pool had been abandoned for several years and was in major disrepair. My pool is an old 32,000 gallon Gunite pool built in the 70?s. The plaster, tile, coping, plumbing, and equipment was all broken and deteriorated from years of neglect and exposure to the weather. I called a few pool companies and left messages for them to call me back. Not one of the companies returned my call and I almost gave up on repairing the pool.  </p> <p>A few weeks later I saw a Pugliese Pool truck in my neighbor?s driveway whose staff was cleaning their pool. I walked over and spoke with the friendly staff who gave me a Pugliese Pool?s business card and directed me to contact the owner, Alex. I called Alex who scheduled a visit the following week to look at my pool.  </p> <p>When Alex came to look at my pool, he spent several hours with me looking at every aspect of the pool. I never owned a pool before and did not know anything about their design, equipment, or maintenance. Alex answered all of my questions while inspecting the equipment. He removed and replaced the cover to inspect decking and interior of the pool. Needless to say I was very impressed with Alex who was very friendly, knowledgeable, and sincere. After inspecting my pool, Alex provided us with several different repair options and did not try to sell me on any unnecessary repairs or plans. Alex left all the decisions up to my wife and I which made us feel at ease.  </p> <p>When we contracted with Alex everything was spelled out in a written contract with no surprises. Prior to the work beginning, Alex  provided us with samples of all the materials to help us with our design and ?color scheme.? Since the materials would be both wet and dry, Alex spent time mixing and matching the coping, decking, and plaster samples together with us when they were both wet and dry. Once we chose our color scheme, it was time to get to work.  </p> <p><strong>The Work</strong>: I have to say I am very impressed with the level of craftsmanship performed by Alex and his team. I was also very happy to see Alex on site who not only manages his staff, but jumps right in the mix to make sure everything is done right and that the job site is cleaned up at the end of the work day. Alex and his staff removed and replaced all of the old decking, coping, and tile from the pool. The pool was drained and the interior of the pool was sounded for weak concrete and repaired where necessary. I had an additional skimmer and return line installed which Alex recommended for a pool my size. I must say the additional return and skimmer does a great job keeping the pool water clean and prevents any leaves from settling to the bottom. I asked Alex to pitch the decking to a catch basin I had installed for rain water which came out perfect. The Kool Deck was a great touch since our pool gets direct sunlight all day and the decking (patio) stays cool to the touch. Lastly, I have to say I had a few masons at my house several months after the pool was completed providing estimates to repair concrete steps. I was very happy when they all commented on how well the coping and decking had been installed.  </p> <p>Alex and his team helped me transform my yard into a summer paradise for my wife and two kids. Our house is now the central hub in the summer time for our large family and friends. Alex and his team of pool specialists are all very courteous, professional, and do excellent work ! All of the workers at the house were extremely polite and really cared about their work. The man who did the tiles took it upon himself to improve the way the skimmer baskets looked by adding tile to a previously diamond bright only area. When he finished the tiles, the look of pride on his face was refreshing and rare these days. The owner, Alex, came by often to check on the work being done and to make sure I was happy with the work. This is also rare with companies these days. The job took a little longer than originally stated but was an acceptable overage. Any questions/issues were promptly dealt with. I would definitely use them again and recommend them. <br />

From start to finish, Pugliese Pool Service outperformed on every expectation. <br /> I called the office last friday, and explained to Alex, the owner, how I had a pool that had been closed for 7 years, with a mesh cover on it, with holes in the cover to boot. <br /> I emailed him pictures, and he quoted me a more than reasonable price to do the job.  I accepted his price and booked the service for today. <br /> His crew arrived as scheduled.  They were very friendly and professional every aspect.  Before I knew it, the pool was drained and the cleaning began. <br /> Hours later, the pool is in fantastic shape--much better than we had hoped for.  They even power washed the deck (which wasnt part of original deal!) and didnt charge us. <br /> I will most certainly be engaging Pugliese Pool Service in the future.  I highly recommend anyone looking for any type of service on their pool to at least call them for a quote--apparently, they work almost anywhere in Bergen, Union, Middlesex, Monmouth and even parts of Ocean county (I may have missed a few counties as well!) <br /> <strong>VERY </strong>happy with how this worked out <br />

Without question, PUGLIESE POOL SERVICE is the top of the line provider of pool services and repairs.  Alex, the owner, knows the pool business thoroughly.  Over the past several years, Pugliese has solved our most complex pool problems ... hardware or water treatment, they know how to get the job done.     <br /> With our most recent pool water problem (cloudy water), Alex knew exactly how to treat the problem and then called me back a few times to personally ensure the treatment was working.  T\My earlier trips to the local pool store did not come close to solving the problem, despite selling me a few hundred dollars of chemicals. <br /> If you need to call a pool service, Pugliese is your best choice. <br />

Alex was terrific from the first day we met him. We interviewed 2-3 other contractors, but Alex was far and away the most knowledgable and helpful. We had a very old pool(1959) that was nothing but a headache. Alex took our ideas, added even better ones and put together a step by step plan. He helped us look for ways to save money while still getting a outstanding finishing product. He and his crew were wonderful and professional. They went above and beyond to make the process as easy as possible. When things were all done we even got more then we agreed on for the price. Alex is one of the few contractors out there that care more about his reputation and what the finish job looks like, then how much profit he is making on a job. I have been in the construction business for over 25 years and having Alex and his crew work on my house was like having my family do the pool. I could go on for ever on every little detail that Alex thought of and took care of. I would and do recommend him to anyone who is looking for someone who cares about the customer and job long term, rather then those who want to get in and out ASAP. Everyone who sees the before and after pictures and hears how easy Alex made it to maintain the pool can't believe it. We were truly lucky to meet such a great contractor and now friend. <br />

The work began in April. Our pool is a Gunite pool so there was first some demolition and then the whole pool was resurfaced, retiled and some coping work was done. Alex's crew was very professional. They have all been with him for many years and the craftsmanship was exceptional. Our pool was ready as promised before the summer season began. The finished product is gorgeous! We enjoyed it this summer and look forward to many more summers in it! We also use Alex for weekly service, as well as open and close services and our pool is always in tip top shape!
