Not well. Air pockets everywhere. Had to have the drywall completely removed to expose areas not filled.

Not well. He called the night before to say he was coming after not hearing from him for months. When he came he did half the work he had planned to do. He didn't remove the soffit like he was supposed to or do the left side of the sliding glass door. They also only removed the middle siding boards and not the whole wall. He said they were able to spray down and up easily from the middle. He gave me his word that I would not feel cold from that wall, but I did, and much worse than before. He blamed the fireplace company for months. In the end I had to have the walls removed and found major air pockets all along the bottom of the wall and random air pockets throughout the wall. 3 years of spending thousands of dollars searching for the cause of the draft elsewhere. Torsten is a very nice guy but it was a very disappointing experience.

We scheduled them for a particular week months in advance as the project was on a tight timeline. They could not start until after the demo upstairs and had to be done before HVAC installers showed up. Everything was completed on-time and the price paid was as quoted despite having to make a few changes to the plan once the walls were opened. Fantastic company. They want to do a good job and it shows. We were concerned about residual odors from spray foam but there are none. Most importantly the house retains heat with way less fuel burned! We heat primarily with wood and used to have temps drop >20 degrees from the moment we loaded up the stove before bed until waking. Seriously, the fire would burn for hours with the house at 75 degrees after we got in bed, but when we woke, it was 53 inside the house. Now with similar outside temps we don't bother to load up the stove before bed and we wake up it is maybe 8 degrees cooler. I love a morning in the mid-60s compared to the low-50s INSIDE my house in the winter. If you are going to retrofit your house with spray foam insulation, it is a huge and messy job, so be prepared for that. There are little bits of spray foam you have to clean up later, in the driveway, yard, house. You have to live somewhere else for at least 24 hours, but we stayed away almost a week while odors decreased. We had one issue where the AirKrete leaked through the inside of the house wall in 3 location and was not noticed by the crew. We came home to see the job they did and found globs of hardened foam hanging down the walls in these locations. I called Torsten and he reported this had not happened before, most houses don't have holes in walls on the inside, and had they seen it they would have cleaned it up. He came on site and helped me clean it up and apologized, which went a long way with me.

"Hi [Member Name Removed], Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lengthy review. I am ever so happy that the results lived up to your expectations and really appreciate the opportunity to work on such an interesting project. I feel bad that we didn't catch the mess left by the Air Krete in your bathroom and mudroom when it seeped through the cracks in your walls but thankfully it was an easy cleanup and you got to see for yourself how well it seals everything up. Thank you for letting me know so I could take care of it! Thank you again for your business"

"Thank you for a thorough review and explanation of your project. As you point out, proper insulation and air sealing of the roof/attic affects the whole house. If warm air can't escape at the top, much less cold air flows in at the bottom so 'putting a lid' on a house really helps. Thanks again."

Torsten Hansen has the patience of a saint. As I was considering my options with other companies, I bombarded him with a multitude of questions which he answered thoroughly and in a timely manner.

His price was the best.

I have one complaint. I have a bedroom above an unheated garage. We removed the old drywall and fiberglass insulation which was riddled with squirrel mess. We also added air conditioning to the house. There are heating/air conditioning ducts running at the side of one garage wall and across 3 areas of the garage ceiling. The HVAC contractor said to make sure those were well insulated or humid air would condense on the ducts and damage the new drywall. I thought that foam would be the best option.

Pure Seal did a really good job of insulating the side vents with high density foam. I had the ceilings and walls done in medium density foam. But, they left the bottom halves of the ducts across the ceiling unfoamed. In all but a few spots there was a good 2 inches or more space from the bottom of the vent to the end of the joist. I measured it . Torsten went out and looked at it from the ground and said there was nothing they could do. He said if I was worried about condensing water dripping onto the underside of the drywall when the air was on, I could staple some plastic over the areas. Not a good solution.

I tried to foam the vents myself with Great Stuff, but it would not stick to the horizontal surface of the ceiling ducts. It kept falling off. So I wound up ripping the vapor barrier off of some fiberglass insulation and tapping it up in the cavity below the ceiling vents. I then covered the fiberglass with reflectix stapled to the joists. I told Torsten what I did and he thanked me for taking care of it but stuck by his decision that they could not have done anything.

I was disappointed because this was one of the main reasons I wanted foam.

They also cut a wire in trimming the foam but he did offer to pay to fix that. My electrician was doing something else for us so he did not charge us. That kind of stuff happens and I would not fault him for that but they should have caught it when they inspected their job instead of me having to tell them about it.

The owner came to the house to give us an estimate, after speaking with him at the Home and Flower Show at the IX Center. He was very nice as well as professional. His son came to complete the job. He did a great job, cleaned up everything, and the basement looked as it did when he started. We immediately noticed a difference in the temperature of the flooring around the areas he insulated and also the temperature in the basement, in general. We were very pleased and would definitely recommend Pure Seal.
The tub is now usable and the basement drafts from the attic were eliminated. I was very pleased in the care that Torsten took in doing what was needed to properly insulate that outside wall. He took the time and steps to do what was necessary. Very knowledgable and professional. Not the lowest cost option but excellent work.
The result of foam insulating the overhangs is muc better than anticipated. It not only eliminated the air drafts in the basement but it also drastically reduced the spider/cobweb problem in the basement. Those drafty overhangs provided easy entry for insects.
Based on this past winter, although mild, I'm very happy I went ahead with this job. I'll never recover the cost in lower energy bills, but the comfort level made it worth it for me. I would not hesitate to use Pure Seal for any similar project.
Torsten, the owner was great! He diagnosed our problem areas and gave us recommended solutions. He worked within our budget and even broke it up into bite size pieces. This way we were able to make some fixes to our insulation, then if that wasn't good enough, he could keep doing more until our house had a good climate. We may not even need to do the rest of the insulation work (which might run several thousand dollars) because Torsen made such good suggestions on less expensive alternatives ... and then did the work so well.

His son was the actual installer of the spray foam in our basement. He was professional, kind, and highly attentive to details. Absolutely delighted with him.

After the work was done, PK Wadsworth (the heating company that recommended we improve our insulation and recommended Pure Seal) inspected the work of Torsten and his family. They were pleased but found one small area that Torsten missed. It was trivial, but both PK Wadsworth and Pure Seal are perfectionists. So they called Pure Seal back and asked them to add some more insulation under the stairs. Pure Seal came right out, looked at the problem area (and even identified a second small area that they missed ... and I would have never even noticed these small imperfections !)

Torsten fixed everything pronto. It was all done perfectly.

I do not give a great review lightly. But please trust me and hire Pure Seal !!! Just tell Torsten your budget ... and feed him some cupcakes ... he will try to find the least expensive way to fix your problems. He knows what he is doing ! He is very honest and won't over sell you ! He is also kind, and hard working. His whole company is great !

I wish every contractor was this good !
"Member, Thank you for your kind words and actions while we were at your home. The work we do is not glamorous but customers like you who go the extra mile to be nice to us make all the difference and make our smiles a little brighter. And, of course, the cup cakes were great. Thanks again, Torsten"

The project went very well and Torsten was willing to accommodate us on scheduling. The garage project was a complete gut, and then insulated, drywalled, and painted. So once we had it stripped down, Pure Seal came in for phase one and foam sealed the garage. A large dumpster was dropped in the driveway and the main attic was vacuumed. Upon completion of the garage Pure seal came back for phase 2 and finished insulating the attic of garage and the main house.
We immediately noticed a huge difference in the garage and house. In addition to the benefits of the added insulation there is also a sound factor, having a bedroom above the garage. We anticipate the cost will be offset by savings on our utility bills.

From start to finish the process went very smoothly. We worked directly with the owner of the company, Torsten Hansen who very clearly described our options, what would be best suited for our application and what we could expect during the process. Initially we had only intended to do the small room, and have the attic quoted, but because of how small the room is, we were encouraged to go ahead and have the attic done at the same time as it would wind up being more economical.

I encourage anybody who has this work done to listen when told to make sure you clear out the room you are havind done as there is some amount of overspray and spatter of fine mist. If you don't want this layer of mist on the floors of the room you are having done, you better cover them with tarps or rosin paper. In our case it didn't matter much as our attic is unfinished with rough flooring, though we did make sure to clear out everything that was stored up there.

Also bear in mind that the product, while somewhat greener than others, does smell when first applied and for a few days after. By that I mean you will be able to smell it throughout your house.

The entire job took two day, and the installers, including Torsten and I think maybe his son where excellent to work with, and did an excellent job keeping the mess to a minimum and cleaning up after themselves. We intend to have the rest of the walls in the house insulated, probably next summer, with their pour in product.

Torsten Hansen of Pure Seal quoted the job in 2nd week of January and scheduled the job for the next week. Two installers arrived with a large trailer that stores the liquid foam and sent it through a long hose up to the attic. The whole installation took about 5 hours. Installers took a while to get the correct foam consistency and stickiness as it was not adhering to the wood. Installers masked over the windows and stairwell and cleaned up all foam scrap when done. I then noticed that they had missed the spaces around the windows where the counter-weights had been (before I took them out before the job started). They politely went back to remedy this oversight.

The project was delivered as promised. the crew cleaned up after themselves in what is a very messy project. The product is fantastic. The complete blockage of air infiltration is amazing. Foam is clearly the way to go for many applications. PureSeal is really good at this. They used the correct product and made the proper installation. I am thrilled with the results.

This past winter we had some issues with pipes freezing. We had been presented with many solutions most of them were very costly. We contacted Pure Seal to see if there were any other options. Torsten Hansen, one of the owners returned my call very quickly and setup an appointment. Torsen took a great deal of time assessing the situation and provided a very detailed explanation of why were having the freezing issues. He explained he was going to take the entire side of the outside wall off to expose the studs and make it airtight with insulation from below and above. His crew showed up on time and quickly went to work. The job took two days. The bottom line is that Pure Seal is a VERY Professional company with a great product and impeccable customer satisfaction as their first priority. Torsten makes sure the job is done right and the customer is completely satisfied. I would use them again and I highly recommend Pure Seal for any insulation job. One other high point is that Purse Seal is a ?Green? company with the environment is mind.

I chose Pure Seal for two reasons. The product they use is environmentally-friendly. It is partially made from soy beans and recommended by green builders. Also, the insulation company I had originally hired never showed up. So I called the owner-installer of Pure Seal, Troy Hansen, and he came to my house that same day to give me an estimate. On the day of installation, he had two helpers. Everything went smoothly. Troy is very professional, polite, and friendly. And I am very pleased with the product. I plan to have Pure Seal return in the future to do a kitchen crawl space and bathroom walls.
