The owner, Travis Barger, makes promises he never intends to keep. He fools you on the front end of the job leading you to believe that he’s an honest good person. He will mention his faith in God and talk about his kids. He completes part of the installation, has been paid for materials and then disappears. Does not return texts, emails or phone calls. He will finally respond and apologize, tell you his father died (he’s died several times and has risen from the dead since other customers have been told same at different points in time. Read comments on BBB). He will promise you that he won’t let you down and then tell you when he’ll be there but he won’t show up, again. Not even man enough to let you know he won’t be there. He is by far the least professional person we have ever dealt with. He is a disgrace to the profession. Won’t return $ for materials he never delivered. Says he will refund your money. Still hasn’t. Don’t believe anything he says. I have two pictures attached. One is of our furniture that has been piled in a room waiting on him to show up and another is of where he has installed flooring but didn’t order enough wood. This is only one example of many where the room is incomplete. I told him about an area in the kitchen where he installed wood and the floors squeak. Of course it’s no problem for him to repair since he never planned to be there in the end anyway.

We contacted Travis Barger, owner of Quality Flooring to finish our newly installed wood flooring. We had used this company a few times before and were satisfied with the work that was done. An appointment was made by Mr. Barger for February 6th, 2018. The job was completed on Feb. 9th as promised. We left our home for 3 days to stay with our daughter while the work was done. When we returned, Mr Barger was there and we looked briefly at the floors. He wanted to leave shortly so we wrote him a check for the full amount, made out to him personally at his request. He had done good work in the past so we trusted him. After looking at the floors more carefully, we noticed there were many bubbles or rough places in the polyurethane, thin areas where there couldn’t have been 3 coats and even some areas with no stain. We immediately, on the same day, called him to tell him we were not satisfied, and asked him to just come and look at them and tell us what he thought. To our surprise, he immediately said he would redo them completely without seeing them. The next day we again asked him to look at them. He made an appt with us but did not show up. He had an excuse so we made another appt. Again he did not show. After we texted him again, he stated that he wanted to redo the whole job, put us up in a hotel for 2 nights with meals included. He set an appt with us and we were to make a reservation at a local hotel. We have never been reimbursed for the hotel. Our furniture and appliances had to be removed which we did ourselves. No one showed up at all. We texted and called for over a month with no response. At that point, we called another company to look at the floors & give us an opinion of what could be done. His advise was that a hard buffing and one coat of polyurethane might help at least. At about this time we were contacted by Travis Barger, because we had reported him to the BBB. He stated that he had replied to the BBB which it turned out was a lie. He agreed to come and buff and apply 1 coat. He actually begged us to give him another chance. I have all of his texts. Stupidly, we agreed. He did not show up again!! We have never been treated so badly by anyone. He was just totally messing with us. What a cruel joke! We had another company buff and coat which cost us $800. They did the best they could but its still not the job we expected. One more thing: we filed a suit against him in small claims court in Leavenworth. He did not show up there either and we were awarded what we asked for by default. The court still has not heard from him and he has not paid anything.

My wife and I bought bought our first home, a 60s house with untouched oak floors that needed to be refinished. The floors with great potential were the thing we were most excited about, it turned into a nightmare, and not a short one to fully explain. I've put off this review for a year because it's so hard not to get worked up about but I can say I write this review with a pretty level head. We got 3 quotes, Travis was in the middle but was a fantastic salesman, and according to his website NWFA certified (He wasn't, we'll get there). I was concerned about long term durability and he sold me on the 2 part Pallmann X-98 finish and said he does a sealer and 3 coats of finish while most refinishers will only do a sealer and 2 coats but call it 3. I was sold and confident. Morning of comes and I let his crew in. They don't strike me as professionals but "hey the reviews are fantastic". I found myself restating this sentiment too many times. Just a few minutes later I'm watching one of the guys break out the boards that need to be replaced with what looks like a harbor freight screwdriver and a hammer, and he looks surprised when he bends it off. "But hey the reviews are great". They do the rest of the work without me present and from a peak in the front door it looks great. Then the day comes when we can actually walk on the floors. Not only does the finish feels like sandpaper because of the grain raise that wasn't broken after the first coat but there are ridges from belt dig in numerous places and what I can only describe as a 12" wide trough across our dining room floor. I asked about the grain raise and he said it was normal for water base and that this was a "sealer" and 2 coats of finish that they normally do with no mention of that 3rd coat, still hoping I would buy off on the work I'm sure. I was sick to my stomach, Travis agreed the work needed to be redone. I was hesitant but he said he would be there the entire time to supervise. Keep in mind at this point we are living in our garage in winter with an electric space heater. Second try. No complaints on the first day, second day I'm there to watch them put down finish. I realize that they are putting down cheaper single part finish than what I was sold, the worker (Travis not present as promised) tells me they only put 2 part on the top coat. I call Travis and he says that you can't put 2 coats of 2 part down because of how it cures. I'm 80% sure he's lying to me but I let it slide until I'm sure. He texts to ask about when his guys can get back in to finish and I send him a picture of the product datasheet for the 2 part that says the recommended application is 2 coats of 2 part finish. After a heated conversation about why he is lying to me he says we are done and I'm left trying to figure out what to do about there floors. He eventually realized he walked off 95% of the way through a job where he's already done twice the work he should have and apologizes and goes back to the honest hard working man narrative. Again my wife and I are living in a cold garage and more reputable companies are booked well out. We agree he will sand to break the grain raise and apply 2 coats of 2-part finish on top of the 1 part he put down. He gives me the bottle to prove it's what he used, it's 90% empty and I ask to clarify that it took just under a gallon to cover the floor and he confirms. I found out later that according to the spec sheet a gallon should cover up to 500sqft. he made it cover over 800 with some left over. Day comes to walk on the floors and I about throw up. Yes it's better but there are still ridges (in different places), a visible ripple across the floor in all rooms, and it's dished out so bad in front of our bathroom door so bad you can clearly tell as you walk yet alone slide across it. He asks what I think and I say it's better but I still wouldn't call it right and I need to get an outside opinion. He actually quotes NWFA guidelines on acceptability about an issue having to be visible from 7 feet away (which most of it is other than the trash stuck in the finish). I have the work re-quoted and my wife and I agree that we can't be daily disappointed by what was supposed to be the best part of our house. I tell he I don't think he should expect me to pay for sub par work that needs to be done and he loses it. Texting me saying he is going to put a lien on my house and that they are permanent (not true) and carry interest (also not true to my understanding). On 11/20/16 he says "My attorney is sending a letter to you...", "Lien is being filed 100% tomorrow", and "This is my final contact From here it will be our attorneys". Great 2 months into home ownership and the first contractor I hire is trying to rake me over the coals, I'm admittedly scared at this point. Well this is the point I realize how many red flags I ignored and start preparing my case. Remember that National Wood Flooring Association certification? NWFA certified re-finishers are held to some of the highest standards in the industry. At the time he was advertising as certified on one of his websites (yes he had 2) and as a member on the other. I contact them about the review process for when a certified contractor does not meet standard and tries to squeeze a customer for money. Of course they have no record of him ever being certified or a member and that he would be receiving a cease and desist. I forwarded this info on to the BBB. Claim a higher certification and quote guidelines but can't make the quality of work? I was giddy to take this one to court honestly because he really should owe me for how much usable life he reduced our floors by. I paid several hundred dollars to have an actual NWFA inspector come look at the floors in case Travis actually had the audacity to take this to court after I paid significantly more for someone who had the cert he claimed to redo his work. They concluded... "Sanding irregularities are clearly visible in the form of dish out , stop marks, edger depressions, and waves across most of the finished floor. These visible conditions concern the operation and maintenance of sanding machines used to sand the floor. They are controllable by the floor refinisher." 8 days later, 7 days after the lien was supposed to be filed and after I assume he got both the cease and desist and contact from the BBB I start getting texts again trying to explain away the NWFA advertisement. And my favorite, "If yoy can give me the inspection that we have failed a produt I will stop my attorneys from lien proceeding. If not then lien proceedings will stay." Now he has multiple attorneys hired for a $1536.75 lien that was supposed to be filed a week ago. Comical. 20 minutes later he recants saying he isn't going to do any of that AND he is going to refund the $850 deposit because he is a good guy just trying to do the right thing. Of course I ask why the lien wasn't "100% filed" last Monday and he switches back to the victim narrative. I told him he had 3 days to refund my deposit before I did a credit card chargeback. For some reason he put a check in our door the next day. I assume just to make sure we weren't living on the floors before having them rererefinished which would mean he was entitled to pay (We weren't, still in the cold garage for like 2 weeks+ thanks again Travis). I had to leave for a work trip and my wife had to move back in with her parents while we had an actual NWFA refinisher squeeze us in around the 5th of December if I'm not mistaken for about $1000 more than Quality. Now they did good work but unfortunately they can't put wood back on the floors so some of the dishing issues still exist but the sanding is smooth and so is the finish, can't see sander marks, the surface level change in front of the bathroom is not noticeable, the color doesn't get darker around the outside of the room (probably didn't mention that one), and they cleaned up most of the dust that quality left behind. They sold us 2 coats of Bona Traffic HD and it doesn't surprise me that their 2 coats no sealer looked much thicker than the 3 coats Quality put down. Bottom line beyond money I hate knowing

"This individual has written a response before on our company. We did have machine issues on this job and we told him that's why we gave him full refund of his money. No one is perfect and when we have issues we handle them and We always try to do the right thing in business no matter what it is after 21 years of business we stand by that. This individual has tried to take this over and over and over to hurt our name and reputation over his job and we have done what we need to do as a company by refunds and by apologies. I consider this closed I'm happy that he got his floor fixed the way that he wanted it and refunds to his account should show that we excepted the fault. We truly hope he has a merry Christmas and a great new year God bless you. Quality Flooring Travis Barger"

I HIGHLY recommend Travis and his group. We have been stuck in a remodel nightmare, and came upon Travis from Angies list. Travis came right out to give us an estimate, and began work almost immediately. The entire transaction was flawless! We will definitely be having Travis back to refinish the upstairs in the very near future. Floors look amazing!!!!!!!!

We are extremely pleased with the floors. I actually like them better every day....so pretty! Overall it took a bit longer than anticipated, but we had unplanned medical issues to handle. The meshing of the old kitchen and great room floors is amazing; one would never know they were not put down at the same time. Travis is very accommodating and has unbelievable patience! All of the workers were very nice, respectful and considerate. There were several different workers, but each had a defined role and was skilled in their trade. I highly recommend the company.

We had scheduled our floor refinish for 7/17-7/19 and the painting guy was supposed to come 7/20-7/21 to do the stair rails and end caps. Come Monday 7/17 the floor refinishers were at our house as planned and everything went very well with them, they are reliable and did a great job on our floors. Here's where it gets messy... on Thursday 7/20 the painter was not at our house and we hadn't heard anything from Travis on why he wasn't at our house. After I texted Travis and he took a long time to respond, he finally told me that his painter was in a car accident and wouldn't be able to do our handrails until Aug. 7. The painter was also supposed to come in and touch up the base shoe that the floor refinishers scuffed up during the removal process, so now I have to do that myself too. It's terrible that happened but I shouldn't have had to be the one to dig for answers, he could've had the decency to communicate with me. So then he tells me that same day that he will be out to our house to put our fridge and stove back in on Friday so that the floors could be dry by then, ok no problem. He confirmed this again on Thursday, great. So Friday comes....Travis NEVER showed up!! I texted him asking when he'd be at my house, no response. I called him, no answer. I left him a voicemail. Nothing. He then turned his phone off. So he left us with a kitchen that is not functional and we had to move our appliances back ourselves with help from the neighbors (thank god for them!). It's now Saturday morning and I still cannot get hold of Travis and he has yet to say anything to us. This guy is obviously very unprofessional and does not know how to run a business. I would not recommend him to anyone.

It went well. The floors look very nice. One room ended up being a slightly different color, but it was not the company's fault. It was communicated after the floors were stained that one room was a different type of wood. The floors look amazing. Just wished they matched. Also, the owner was generous by offering a military discount and an Angie's List discount. We are still waiting on our wood grain vent covers though.

Travis and his crew were very pleasant and professional and the floors look wonderful since they finished. They communicated well and kept the dust down remarkably. The only problem from my perspective was probably my own misunderstanding: I thought a walk-through meant they were completely finished, but it turned out that they still had to come back and do a little finishing work afterward. We will definitely use this company again, and probably in the near future.

Working with Travis was very easy. He was on time, and worked with us as we changed our minds several times. His pricing is competitive and his estimate of charges was thorough. We ultimately went with Quality Floors because of the thoroughness of his estimate, versus other quotes we received which left off several components (potentially increasing the final cost significantly and surprisingly). The final product turned out very well and we are quite pleased. We would definitely recommend this company and their work!

Travis came at precisely scheduled time, assessed the situation and came up with a solution. We have decided to go with engineered floors. Travis personally matched the colors, ordered the flooring which was installed in timely and prompt manner by one of his employees. The carpet was removed and discarded by the company. The installation work was done in a matter of a few hours. I was kept informed on the progress via text messages during the whole process. This was great and satisfying experience. I will without a doubt keep Travis on my contact list for future projects.

The whole process, from bid to work completion, was very professional. Work was done to a very high standard. Price was very competitive, in fact, significantly less than another quote I received. Travis took the time to discuss using water-based vs oil-based polyurethane with me, and was responsive and punctual. When it was time to pick a stain color, his guys did a few sample patches so that I could get a good idea of how it would look. Work was completed on schedule and as agreed without hassle. After the work was done, there were a few punch list items that I asked him to take care of, and he came out the next day to take care of those. Probably the biggest complement I have is that nearly ever contractor that has come to do work at my house since then has commented on how nice the floors look. We think so, too!

My overall experience with Travis and his team was excellent and I am very happy with my flooring.

Travis fit me into his schedule on relatively short notice and completed the job in the timeframe we agreed upon. He was responsive when I had questions and even called my attention to a scratch on my refrigerator, concerned that they may have been responsible (they were not). Despite unforeseen difficulties in removing the old tile in my kitchen, the original estimate did not increase and schedules were juggled to adapt to the delay. The work was expertly completed and the results exceeded my expectations.

Travis was a pleasure to work with and I will definitely hire him again when we switch to hardwoods in several other rooms!
