At first, Tim was very responsive to emails. He came and provided an estimate at a house that we had just purchased. We wanted to fence in the backyard for our dog. He was very quick to respond to emails and required half the money for a down payment. He first came to the house around March 15 and said he could start as soon as the ground was thawed enough. After we paid half the money, we didn't hear from him and he wouldn't answer emails. Finally, he came out the first week of June to mark out the fence and said it would take 3-4 days to complete. Well, it wasn't officially completed until the middle of October. He had two helpers do the whole thing, we don't think he was here more than a couple hours. They would come and work on the fence for a couple days and then we wouldn't have anything done for weeks. He would never communicate with us to tell us what was going on. Finally, we heard that there were a lot of rocks in the ground that they were having trouble with because they didn't have the right equipment. When they finally had it almost completed, 2 out of 3 gates didn't line up properly and you had to pull the panels together just so the gate would latch. And one post had a bunch of holes in it where they messed up and re-drilled it. However, they didn't even patch up the holes. And two of the posts didn't have caps on them. It took a long time and many emails for him to come out and fix these things. And that's only because we wouldn't pay the second half of the payment until it was completed. He sent us the bill before everything was fixed. Even now, the gates are stretched to the maximum space so if anything shifts, it won't latch again. He was great to work with before he got our money, but once he got half our payment, the communication was horrible. The entire job took more than 4 months to be completed, not the 3-4 days he said at the beginning. We would never recommend him for any services.
The reason I called in early spring was so that I could have it done for summer. It’s the end of summer and it is still not done…he will stop by every 2 weeks and work for a couple hours. He always says that it is close to being done but it never seems to be close!

Great. Tim was skilled, honest, forthright, courteous, considerate and punctual through the whole job. His assistant was pleasant and hardworking. He came out right away to look at the deck which had been flagged by the inspector I hired to look at the house when I was under contract to buy it. Though this was a relatively small job, he helped me understand deck structure as well as point me towards independant sources of information to help me through the negotiating process with respect to getting a reduction of the house's purchase price which involved at least a dozen calls and communications. (I did get estimates from other builders who came out higher with all sorts of caveats built into their contract so I could not be sure what the final price would be). When the actual job started, we ran into some tough ground (clay and large rocks) to remove in order to putting the footings which took extra days to get through as it was done by hand (because Tim did not want to tear up my yard with his heavy duty digging equipment). Tim did not charge me beyond the estimate for this unforseeable complication though it was clearly within his right under the circumstances to do so. The work was excellent and he is the type of a craftsman who is by nature unable to leave a job that isn't well done. Though I thought the job was done, he came back out to perfect it beyond what I had expected. He left the place as clean as he found it. I recommend him without hesitation
Tim is a poet both with paper and wood. We enjoyed his professionalism and his attention to detail. His no radio policy and cleanliness around the work site were both appreciated. He was able to listen to what we wanted and translate that into a finished product with which we were very happy. He did not cut corners and made suggestions to improve the structure and quality of our home. The only sad point is that we have now moved and can no longer use the back deck Tim built us without risking trespassing citations. Thanks Tim!
I initially thought the repair was OK. However I noticed that a corner post cap had not been replaced. I contacted Tim by phone and email in March of 2013. Then again in May & June asking him to install said cap. I have yet to receive any response what so ever from him. Obviously, the cap does not render the fence unserviceable, but it is unsightly and the job has not been completed. I was willing to give him plenty of time to respond, but having not heard from him I would not recommend that he be on Angie's List nor would I recommend him to anyone!! BTW he or one of his employees returned and picked up some excess materials after I contacted him.
I absolutely LOVE the cedar fence that Quigley Decks & Fence built. It looks amazing - better than I had expected, to be honest. The guys were friendly and professional, and gratefully put up with my barking puppy who was not totally cool with all the activity in "his" backyard. I highly recommend working with Tim and his company.
He was very prompt and very professional. At first he thought he would not be able to complete within our requested time frame, but he was able to use a little wiggle room and get it done right on time! Our fence looked so awesome that our neighbors decided to use Quigley too!
The end result is very satisfactory. It has enhanced the beauty of our home significantly. We are very pleased with the quality of the material and the overall construction of the deck. The actual project took significantly longer than we anticipated since we signed the order for the work in early to mid June and not until near the end of July was the work actually started and then completed in August. In addition, once the project was started, it took what appeared to be a pretty long time to complete it. This was very likely due to the weather that we had in Wisconsin where it was uncommonly hot in July that slowed down construction work through out the area. Mr. Quigley was a very competent and friendly contractor. He knew what he was doing and, as we said earlier, the result is very satisfactory

It did take longer than we thought it would (Jun 14 - Jul 10), but we had no official timeline/deadline for a finish date. In the end, we could not be more pleased. Mr. Quigley paid great attention to detail and created for us a deck that exceeded our expectations. We LOVE the new deck! It's the first time I've felt safe being on our deck since we've lived here, and I can't wait to open up the blinds every morning - it's beautiful and inviting. Well done!

Our neighbor has a gorgeous garden and we have 2 young kids and 2 dogs. We wanted to be able to still see the neighbor's garden but also contain the offspring and the dogs. Tim listened to what we wanted, was flexible when we changed our minds after the initial quote, and started the job promptly. It took 3 days, start to finish. Ramon, his employee, worked nonstop and did not cut any corners. We were worried our neighbor wouldn't like the fence but he loves it too. In fact he's thinking about having Tim come back and put one up on the other side of his yard.

I received a quote quickly that was very reasonable. After sending back the signed agreement, the wood was delivered fairly quickly. However, he did not show up for several weeks and I ended up needing to contact him a couple of times before he finally came and did the work. The quality of the work seemed very good and the price was reasonable. I did not like the original latch he put in since it was impossible to operate with one hand, and he did replace it with another design that seemed to work better (at the time). However, once we started to get cold weather, the latch system would not work since the wood was affected by the weather. I contacted him about this and he indicated that he had had other customers with the same problem and was trying to find another latch. Since then (last Spring - it is now November) I have contacted him repeatedly, both by phone and also by email to get the latch replaced. When I last reached him by phone a couple of months ago, he apologized and said he would be there in a few days to fix. He never showed. I finally sent him an email warning him of a bad Angie's list review if he didn't replace it within a week but he still hasn't responded. I am now going to find another contractor to replace the latch. I have been contacted by Quigley Decks and Fence, due to a family emergency he was not able to make it to my home to do the work himself. They reimbursed me for the cost of having another company come out and fix the latch plus an extra $25.00 for my troubles. I am very satisfied with the resolution of this issue and now will use this company again in the future.

Quick quote and then the work was performed before promised date. Tim Quigley and his employee put in a big effort on a brutally hot day. Fence looks great and is very solid.

I obtained bids from four fencing contractors, and was very happy to have added Quigley to the list based on positive reviews on Angies List. Quigley's price was in the mid-range, but for a better product, in my opinion. Several of the well known fencing contractors in the Madison area do not use solid wood posts (one, comparably priced, would have used a flat piece of wood against a steel post--not attractive, and not even terribly sturdy). Tim Quigley used solid cedar fencing and took care to match an existing fence on the back edge of my backyard. This meant spacing the pickets closer together than is customary in most fences today. I was very pleased with the care and quality of the installation.

Tim Quigley provided us with a competetive and clear bid for our new deck in a prompt fashion. Although he began the work later than originally estimated, the work was top-notch and he made sure that the deck was supported well. For example, he used 4x6 supports instead of the existing 4x4s. One of the best things about Tim was that he ALWAYS responded promptly to phone calls and clearly cared about our satisfaction with his work. He even returned after the deck was finished to put a fascia on the stairway stringer that we had not discussed previously. He did not charge for the extra material or labor. He also designed the spindle railings himself since the decking manufacturer did not carry the color that we wanted. We recommend Tim and his workers highly.

Not only did Tim get the work done on time and on budget, but he threw in a cool little bird house that he and his helper made out of scrap cedar. I found a board that was missing a couple of nails and there was a minor split in one of the gate posts, so I emailed Tim. I told him there was no rush because I realize this is his really busy time of year, so it wasn't bad that it took him a few weeks to come take care of the loose board. In addition, he emailed me saying that he wanted to replace a few other boards that were not behaving as he had expected. He hasn't gotten around to that yet, but I was impressed that he identified the issue and plans to take care of it proactively.

I hired this co. r/t positive reviews and I was not disappointed. Tim was timely and responsive. In fact the work was done several weeks ahead of schedule.Jeff did the work and was very profressional and courteous.Best of all my deck looks like new. Jeff worked very hard for 3 days to get the deck looking like new. I would hire them again and would and have recommended them.
