We contacted Rafferty and the next day someone came out and gave us the estimate. My husband and I preferred his presentation, explanation and price to the other estimates we had already received so we signed a contract with Rafferty and set up a date (the following week). The crew arrived as scheduled! That was so impressive as we all have had contractors who prove to be unreliable and unresponsive once a contract is signed. The crew got to work and were finished by the end of the day. The work is excellent. The crew were hardworking, friendly and professional. I gladly recommend Rafferty Paving. <br />

Problem: Listing stated credit cards were accepted, later told it would incur a 3% surcharge, which was ok by me. At completion of work, they could not accept credit cards because his father (Sam Rafferty) had left town for a family emergency and had taken the card swipe device. So I paid by check. I explained that by paying by credit card $6800.00 I would have earned points at a dollar per point which I could use on my next cruise at a point for dollar. I told him when his dad gets back, I was willing to pay by card, have his dad confirm the money was in his account and send me a check. After ninety days I have not heard from the company. Losing $6800.00 in points and equivalent to cash when I travel. I paid the full price and did not take my 5% senior discount since it would cover the 3% surcharge and a 2% tip to the crew. <br /> The work was professionally done in a timely manner. A very hard working crew showed up in 90 degree heat and completed the job in two days. <br />

After soliciting proposals from several asphalt paving companies, not all of which even bothered to respond, we settled on Rafferty Paving. Sam was responsive, showed up on time, and took a great deal of time to explain what he felt needed to be done to repair/repave our driveway and why certain things needed to be done. <br /> Sam stated up front that he wasn?t the cheapest, which is true, but we were very impressed with Sam?s detailed description of the work he would perform, and particularly impressed with Sam?s attention to detail, not just from a functional perspective but also from an aesthetic perspective; he noticed issues that others did not. <br /> In addition to repaving the driveway and replacing sections of it, where necessary, Sam created a paved parking area; importantly, he addressed water runoff issues that had been degrading our driveway and I?m pleased to say that those runoff fixes seem to be working beautifully. The project was fairly large due to length and grade of our driveway, but Sam and his crew completed the job in two days; we were thrilled with the final product. We found Sam to be knowledgeable, professional and attentive to our concerns. His crew worked hard and did a great job of cleaning up after the work was done. <br /> While the proposal we got from Sam was the highest in terms of price, I?m confident that the additional cost was worth every penny in terms of quality, and product delivered. We intend to use Rafferty Paving to seal our driveway next year, and would most definitely recommend their services to customers who are looking for a first class finished product. <br /> <br />

After shopping around for a couple of years, I finally ran into Rafferty Paving. A lot of places don't return your call if they're busy or rarely follow-through with estimate appointments. But, dealing with Sam was truly a pleasure. <br /> We were finally able to get our driveway looking like new and was able to add on the driveway extension to utilize for additional parking and kid's play area. Sam and his crew were friendly and professional and did a GREAT job! My wife and I really love the work they did and really makes the entry of our home look nice. <br /> Would recommend to friends, family and neighbors... <br />

Bill Rafferty and his crew did a great job. We're very pleased with their work. I think the price was a little high for our size driveway, but it does appear of higher quality than others in our neighborhood, which were also performed recently. It took a few days for him to return my call, but it was worth the wait. We will definitely use Rafferty Paving again. <br />

My husband and I decided that we were ready to have our driveway sealed and some cracks repaired so we called up Rafferty <br /> Paving and left a message stating that we were looking to have this done and would like to schedule a time for them to come <br /> out and give us an estimate and do this job for us. Sam called us back promptly and he was able to come out the day he called us back and did the job that afternoon. He arrived on time with one helper and was very prompt and courteous. He had already given <br /> me an estimate on our driveway one day earlier this summer when he had stopped by one day while out doing another driveway <br /> in our neighborhood. He asked me what estimate he had given me when he had come out this past summer and I told him he had said he could do it for $500. I also mentioned that I am an Angie's List Member and had see that he had posted a coupon for %10 off a job so he honored that and dropped my price down to $450 for our driveway. I was satisfied with that and so he and another young gentleman started to get to work right away. It was 1:00pm on a very warm September day and they did not stop once. <br /> They were a great team and got the job done in about an hour and I was very pleased. Our driveway has never looked better! <br /> Our cracks are all filled in and it is sealed beautifully! I will definitely use them in the future and recommend them to anyone <br /> who would like to have their driveway done. <br />

I called Rafferty Paving based on customer reviews and Bill Rafferty came out the next day to give me an estimate. The estimate was a little higher than I expected for water based spray on sealer, but I figured I'd pay more and get better service. Bill was prompt, professional, and courteous from beginning to end. After the sealer was applied, the next day I noticed a few light areas and told Bill. He came back the next day and applied a second coat. Overall I am happy with the job and would hire Raverty Paving again. <br />

I contacted Rafferty's Paving one afternoon via a message here on Angie's List and received a call back that same day. They were able to come out late that afternoon to do the estimate. I received a call later that same day after the estimate to get the work scheduled. Very professional folks. They did a great job on the driveway. I would most certainly use them again and recommend them to others. <br />

Showed up on time and was very professional. Edged driveway and blew it off with blower. Filled larger cracks and sealed driveway with high quality sealer. Job came out beautiful. Unfortunately we got a light rain shower that night and there was some small puddles in low areas. These areas needed to be touched up. I called Billy and he came within a few days and resealed the problem areas. <br />

On time and fast. Looks good. Has endured salt and ice only now, two months later, so I can't say yet how that will affect even short-term durability. <br /> It was my own reluctance to do the work of cost-comparison that left me ignorant as to whether I paid "way too much" or not. After the fact I spoke to a nearby relative who had paid less for a larger, also uphill driveway. This proves nothing, of course, about Dominic's Paving, , but it is my usually dilemma with home improvement and repairs. It's not like buying a laptop, dishwasher or car where you can research and comparee straightforward quantities (specs, prices, add-ons) as well as the kind of personal evaluations Angies List helps with.

Unlike buying a laptop, or a car (where customers are able to compare specifications more easily), purchasing a new driveway is a bit more complicated. I don't know the specs on your neighbors driveway (there is no standard, or laws governing driveway construction), but I would be willing to bet that it is not built as heavy duty as yours. If your goal was long term.... the price for this particular job was right. If you plan on selling very soon... a lesser driveway could have been installed for a lesser price. When I meet with a new customer I try to understand their goals for the project. Once that is determined... I can sell them the product I think might suit their needs best. That is what we have done for you. In light of this information, I'm sure anyone would agree, that to attempt to compare your driveway (and price), and your neighbors without knowledge of specifications (type of materials, amount of materials, cost of materials at time of construction, installation techniques) is unreasonable. I called Rafferty on 9/23, and the same day Bill Rafferty called me back and set up a time to come out and give us an estimate. Bill showed up on time and was very professional and detailed as to what he would do. The price was reasonable and after he explained the type of seal coat he uses we were convinced that the service would be the best way to go. We were very impressed with Bill, he is polite and extremely proud of his family owned business, and to our delight he was able to seal coat the driveway the very same day. The quality of his work was outstanding, he was careful and made sure that the job was done right the first time. A rare and extreme pleasure to meet such a fine young man and we will definetly recommend Rafferty to our neighbors and friends.We are convinced that this time we actually got a quality seal coating for our driveway unlike bad experiences in the past. We initially contacted Rafferty Paving during the week of August 25, 2014, to just get an estimate on creating a new asphalt driveway, assuming there would be a waiting period of several weeks. Sam Rafferty responded to our query immediately and we were pleasantly surprised to hear that he would be able to come up to see the job site and provide an estimate the next day. He arrived promptly for the appointment and was very friendly, professional, and courteous. <br /> The ~$9,300 quote included digging out our existing gravel driveway and parking pad by our garage, regrading, herbicide application, and installation of the new asphalt. The cost came to ~$2.25 per square foot, which, according to our research, is very reasonable for asphalt. Our second pleasant surprise was that he was able to schedule the installation by the end of that week, since his crew was already in the area working on a couple of other jobs. The crew did some basic grading that Thursday (Aug 28), but finished up the rest of the job by mid-afternoon on Friday Aug 29th.The crew was really great to work with. They listened and complied with some special requests (several curves in the driveway that they formed by hand, and a paved pullout to the side of the drive). They were very courteous and professional. <br /> In short, if you need any type of asphalt paving work done, Rafferty Paving is an outstanding firm and we definitely recommend them.

They patched three areas that were cracked by cutting away asphalt all around them and putting new asphalt in the holes. <br /> After six months all the areas that were repaired, the new asphalt separated from the old making more cracks than before their repair. Over the next three weeks I left six messages to find a fix to the problem but they never returned my calls and I gave up on them. <br />

Since I was short on time, I really appreciated that Sam worked me into his existing schedule within a week of initial contact. We all benefited from the weather and absence of rain that had been forecast. At the appointed time of 9AM, the whole crew and all equipment showed up and immediately got right to work (obviously they had done this kind of work before). There were eight guys who all knew who did what with the equipment. Equipment consisted of: front loader tractor, asphalt paving machine, concrete cutting saw machine, asphalt roller machine, dump trucks, air blower, and a collection of shovels, picks, sledges, etc. They even used some excess dirt to fill a couple of holes in my back yard! By 2:30 PM all the work was completed, site cleaned up, and driveway entrances marked to prevent accidental usage. <br /> Rafferty is a real professional outfit and the results are outstanding. He even warrants the job for a year! <br /> <br />
