Work proceeded as outlined. Quality of work seemed pretty good. The outlined work took 24 hours, although there was supposedly a 2.5 hour stop for materials at Home Depot that seemed excessive. Next work to be done was 1st floor roof at Kitchen Bay (Bay is about 8' x 30') & scrapping/painting of the exterior of the Kitchen Bay. Contractor refused to do that work, even though Ramirez Contractor's ad on Angie's List included 'House Painters' & 'Roofing'

We bought the $800 for 100 feet of bathroom floor retile. Our bathroom is only 50 feet square.

First off, Juan is a very nice guy, he also came when he said he would and was on time. He also worked really hard doing the demo.

Unfortuately though the finished product is quite rough. We bought some high end marble tiles that are 2.5 inch hexagonal pattern and come on a sheet that makes a 1 X 1 square foot. We spent around $1200 on the tile. Although Juan did come and inspect the job in advance, he didn't realize how big the demo was going to be - so he had to buy more materials, which he got me to pay for. He also asked for more money for labor since it was a bigger job. I paid him an extra 250 in all. So far I have spent $2250 on Juan and on the tiles - but I will be spending yet more on another tiler to come and see what can be salvaged.

We didn't inspect when he left last night because you couldn't walk on it for 5 hours. This morning when we walked in and closed the door and inspected closely we have noticed :

high spots broken tiles that have been cemented down

individual tiles that are jammed against each other with no spacing

one wall where he didn't attempt to create a straight line

no tile under the radiator with exposed subfloor

to make a straight line, a lot of cutting was needed to make partial tiles to fill in the pattern, these were cut all unevenly and cemented down crooked.

Will post photos tomorrow

Juan painted my bathroom. He put on two coats of paint after I had
primed it as best as I could. He arrived on time. He was warm and
personable. He did an excellent and thorough painting job. There were no
messes for me to deal with afterwards. I would highly recommend him.
paint job was fine, professional and neat, no problem with the quality of work but the colors of the 2 bathrooms are the same and shouldn't be, I wasn't home to ensure paint color was correct, i called to advise of this and was told he got the colors i gave him to be fixed up and that's what the store gave him, the problem is that he didn't match the colors up to the sample swatch color before applying it to know it was the wrong color, didn't get any paperwork of the job done, no break done of his services, nothing was signed on either sides, no proof other than a verbal quote, when asked for the paperwork he said he would bring it on the day of service, when he came i asked for it, he said its at his house, no apologies, asked if paperwork can be mailed, no response, suggested to get other rooms painted, ended up giving him a 2nd check for 2 more gallons of paint

Originally I was very excited because they called me within the time frame but they set the appointment pretty quickly. It was immediately 2 days after the phone call and pretty late at night. I wanted to get this done before the Thanksgiving holiday so I agreed. They called me on the day of the service asking for the address. I had given the address online. They then called at 4:10 advising me there was traffic and would be there in 30 minutes. It was Veterans Day and there was no traffic. I had checked the traffic cams. I called him at 445 to ask him where they were and ask if I should change it to another day because it was very late and dark already. The man who answered Juan, said no they were almost there. I called again 1/2 an hour later since they stil weren't there by 5:15. They showed up at 5:45 p.m. to paint a room (in the dark). I asked them if they needed tape to tape the ceilings & the baseboards and he said no. I believe the deal included then painting and taping the room beforehand and fixing any small holes. The gentleman, Juan, said he could eye the painting. It took them less than an hour to paint the three walls. When I went in to inspect I noticed there was paint all along the edges of the ceiling and along the baseboard and in the corners along the window edges and even on the mirror that was hanging on the door. Its like they rushed this whole job because it was a bargain on Angie's List and they just wanted to get it done so they didn't have to come a different day. I hired them because I was unable to paint the room. Now I need to find someone to paint the ceiling that they messed up and the baseboard that they messed up. They also got paint drippings on my hardwood floors which we had to go around and scrape off. Maybe it was because they were tired after working a long day at someone elses house but, I would not hire them again. I do have pictures if they need to see them.
Juan did not disappoint. After consulting with me to determine what I wanted done, he suggested ways to cut costs while achieving what I envisioned for the renovation. Juan showed up each day on time (or earlier!) and showed a level of expertise that was very comforting. He did a good job of cleaning up the work site at the end of each day and the cabinets, counters, floor tile and backsplash all turned out the way I had wanted. Just as impressive, the final cost of the work matched his estimate which, by the way, was at least 20% lower than the next lowest estimate that I had received. I will continue to hire him for future work.
It went very well. Juan did this as a small job (mine is in Branford) after spending the day on a major project in Stamford. He was very punctual and kept me informed of any traffic delays. His pricing was reasonable and the quality of his work exceeded my expectations. I would certainly use him again and recommend him based on the work he did for me.
