I have been with them for years. It started because when you call you get a real live person. You don't have to wait for a message to get back to you. When they come, any normal thing they have in their truck. So, you don't have to wait for them to go and get something. They communicate very well. Everybody I have ever dealt with there has been very nice. I have used them for years and years. I have just never had any problems with them. I love them.

I am in a ranch house. I had a leak from my bathtub to my basement. I thought it was a leaky pipe. When they came, it turned out the whole thing was rusted out. They did have to unusually go and get something but they were back in like 15 minutes. They fixed it. I can just count on them. I used to dread working with plumbers or electricians or anybody. They are not cheap but they are worth it. I tell people about them too.

It was $119 then he ended up charging over $200 for the work. Actually it was a job that somebody had messed up. The job they were going to perform was something that was already started. They took the job, they came back and the guy from Angie's List came and finished the work. The price was reasonable. They could have covered the area where they did the work but they didn't cover it. It was already open to do the job. The first guy had to make that opening to do the work then we had to fire him because he wasn't doing the right thing because he was making too many holes. The second guy from Angie's List did the work but he didn't seal the holes. Now I have to hire somebody else to come and seal the holes that the first guy did.

Work was well done! But they were ready to do a $900 repair job until I said I didn't have the money for that, then they had "another idea' and repaired it for under $200

My husband called this company to explain that we had a water filter cannister, attached to the main water line, that wouldn't budge when he tried to unscrew it to change the filter. It was stuck on solidly and he was worried that he might break the pipes if he used more force to twist it off. They dispatched a plumber and my husband described the problem to him when he arrived. He knew immediately - without any further information - that all my husband needed to do was open a water valve next to the cannister to relieve the pressure inside. When the plumber did that, the cannister unscrewed easily. That's it. That was all that was needed to be done. My husband was dumbfounded. They could have told him that over the phone, but that's not the way they do things (so said the owner in a highly unsatisfactory followup call). For this highly technical service, we were charged $140! $70 for them just to walk out the door and stand on our doorstep, and then an additional $70 for opening a water valve by hand.
We also had the plumber look at a dripping bathtub faucet. The solution he offered was to replace the handles for $350. We don't recall if that was $350 for each handle or together. When my husband asked about whether there was a less expensive solution, such as replacing a bad washer in the handle, the plumber told him that his company did not replace washers. A reasonable and potentially effective repair, but they don't do that.
We won't be calling them again.
Response from RAPS PLUMBING & HEATING
"I wish he had called expressing his concerns about the pricing. We are pleasant to talk to. Our goal is to have happy and satisfied clients. This is Raps Plumbing & Heating’s 19th year in business. We have conducted our business structure the same way all 19 years. Pricing up front and price by the job not by the hour. We gave our dispatch fee of $59.95 for his area up front. We provided same day service. The dispatch fee covers the service technician and a stocked service vehicle to come to your property and evaluate your situation. We then give the exact up front price for solving your problems, before any work is done. In this case it was three problems, toilet auger, toilet tank minor rebuild and reconnection of hot water to the sink. Total cost for all three jobs $407.95. The toilet auger price would be the same if it took 30 minutes or 2 hours to clear the toilet clog. The highly trained technician put his many years of toilet auguring skills to work. It is easy to ignore or discount the many years the technician spent perfecting their craft. It was not mentioned that the minor toilet tank rebuild and faucet repair came with a one year warranty, nor the fact that all the work was complete with parts off the truck, no parts run to supply house needed. Our client’s time is equally as valuable."

Toilet went as above.

I accepted the estimate on replacing the baseboard, when he returned to do the job, he brought an inexpensive vinyl cover available at Home Depot for about $70.00. His estimate was about $550 as I remember. He told me that the part he supplied didn't fit - that is when I saw what he was actually installing. Neither he nor his supervisor could support the estimant

I saw Raps reply to my comment. The job that was done that I had trouble with did not involve draining the system or nothing else he said needed to be done. All the workman did was to snap a plastic cover to my existing slant fins.

Response from RAPS PLUMBING & HEATING
"My response / description of work, was for the $1,200.00 job stated in the first review. As for the $550.00 What we proposed did not work and the work was never completed nor was any payment for the non-completed work charged to her. In small repairs jobs the parts are generally the least amount of the job, the balance is the expense of operating an on demand plumbing service company. We provide same day service, 2 hour service arrival windows, up front pricing and fully stock trucks to solve your plumbing, heating & drain problems."

Response from RAPS PLUMBING & HEATING
"We explained the scope of work of draining the entire heating system, removing the baseboard heating covers and element in the tight space next to the toilet. Installing new baseboard trim and element in the tight space next to the toilet. Refilling the heating system and purging air from system. As it goes for almost everything in life it must make sense to us; or we just won’t agree or make the purchase. In most cases like in this instance, the parts were a small portion of the job quoted. Our procedure is to quote the cost of the job before any work is done. This gives total control to the home owner. The cost of the proposed work did not make sense to this home owner. She chose not to have the work done. Again the home owner has total control of the situation."

It was fine with no problems. I paid a lot more than the Big Deal price because I had new pipes put in. They were quite expensive. They did really good work.

Response from RAPS PLUMBING & HEATING
"Angie’s List email communication started around 9am. He called the office at 10:30am to book appointment. Tech left the previous job at 11:30am he arrived at 11:45am. 12:10pm was calling him at work to get price approval. He didn’t want to do the work, stated price was too high. He then changed his mind and wanted to do the work. 12:20 shut water off to house and drained water piping system. Took shower valve trim off, removed cartridge and replaced cartridge. Reactivated water to the entire house, check shower valve cartridge operation re-installed shower trim. Went to each faucet and ran water to get air out of each faucet and toilet. Found hot water temperature to high, lower hot water temperature at hot water heater. Work completed at 1:20pm. Now the fun begins. The credit card given for payment was declined. Called him back at work, he was in a meeting. We had to wait for him to call back. In the meantime while we were waiting for his return call, his sister who let us in so work could be done, wanted us to reduce the cost of the job after they approved the work and the credit card was declined. We did not reduce the cost of work that was approved. It took 30 minutes to finalize payment. They finally paid part in cash and remained by another credit card. The only thing that took 15 minute was the travel time from the previous job to his home."
