"I wish he had called expressing his concerns about the pricing. We are pleasant to talk to. Our goal is to have happy and satisfied clients. This is Raps Plumbing & Heating’s 19th year in business. We have conducted our business structure the same way all 19 years. Pricing up front and price by the job not by the hour. We gave our dispatch fee of $59.95 for his area up front. We provided same day service. The dispatch fee covers the service technician and a stocked service vehicle to come to your property and evaluate your situation. We then give the exact up front price for solving your problems, before any work is done. In this case it was three problems, toilet auger, toilet tank minor rebuild and reconnection of hot water to the sink. Total cost for all three jobs $407.95. The toilet auger price would be the same if it took 30 minutes or 2 hours to clear the toilet clog. The highly trained technician put his many years of toilet auguring skills to work. It is easy to ignore or discount the many years the technician spent perfecting their craft. It was not mentioned that the minor toilet tank rebuild and faucet repair came with a one year warranty, nor the fact that all the work was complete with parts off the truck, no parts run to supply house needed. Our client’s time is equally as valuable."
"My response / description of work, was for the $1,200.00 job stated in the first review. As for the $550.00 What we proposed did not work and the work was never completed nor was any payment for the non-completed work charged to her. In small repairs jobs the parts are generally the least amount of the job, the balance is the expense of operating an on demand plumbing service company. We provide same day service, 2 hour service arrival windows, up front pricing and fully stock trucks to solve your plumbing, heating & drain problems."
"We explained the scope of work of draining the entire heating system, removing the baseboard heating covers and element in the tight space next to the toilet. Installing new baseboard trim and element in the tight space next to the toilet. Refilling the heating system and purging air from system. As it goes for almost everything in life it must make sense to us; or we just won’t agree or make the purchase. In most cases like in this instance, the parts were a small portion of the job quoted. Our procedure is to quote the cost of the job before any work is done. This gives total control to the home owner. The cost of the proposed work did not make sense to this home owner. She chose not to have the work done. Again the home owner has total control of the situation."
"Angie’s List email communication started around 9am. He called the office at 10:30am to book appointment. Tech left the previous job at 11:30am he arrived at 11:45am. 12:10pm was calling him at work to get price approval. He didn’t want to do the work, stated price was too high. He then changed his mind and wanted to do the work. 12:20 shut water off to house and drained water piping system. Took shower valve trim off, removed cartridge and replaced cartridge. Reactivated water to the entire house, check shower valve cartridge operation re-installed shower trim. Went to each faucet and ran water to get air out of each faucet and toilet. Found hot water temperature to high, lower hot water temperature at hot water heater. Work completed at 1:20pm. Now the fun begins. The credit card given for payment was declined. Called him back at work, he was in a meeting. We had to wait for him to call back. In the meantime while we were waiting for his return call, his sister who let us in so work could be done, wanted us to reduce the cost of the job after they approved the work and the credit card was declined. We did not reduce the cost of work that was approved. It took 30 minutes to finalize payment. They finally paid part in cash and remained by another credit card. The only thing that took 15 minute was the travel time from the previous job to his home."
