This is a larger project than most I have done. My biggest concern was Ray, was so darn personable and knowledgeable. Usually to good to true is the counter indicator. He was way ahead of me on every step, from the initial review to completion. His crew did some absolutely beautiful stone work.

On a project this this size there are always a few wrinkles, and that is where Ray Construction really came through. Calling back subcontractors on missed issues, and fixing things right!

I contacted Mr. Woods regarding the replacement of exterior paneling on the eastward facing side of my home in Tampa. Mr. Woods showed up and I pointed out to him the paneling that I wanted replaced. He gave me a price of $800. His son and another person showed up a few days later to do the work. After replacing the boards, they began to dismantle the scaffolding that they had built to support the awning upon which they were standing. I asked why they weren't painting the siding. I was informed that this was not part of the estimate. When estimating the job, I had not specified that I wanted thew siding painted as well. However, as Mr Woods was aware that I was planning to sell the house, he knew quite well that I wanted the siding replaced and painted. He required another $400 to paint the siding which given 3 pieces of paneling, I thought to be excessive, but at this point I realized the nature of the shenanigans that had been played upon me. So his son left to get the paint, returned and he and the other person proceeded to paint the paneling and dismantled the scaffolding. As they were loading their truck preparing to leave, I observed that they were loading additional materials that had not been used on the project. I inquired if my money had been used to purchase these materials. The son reluctantly responded to the affirmative, whereupon I insisted that they unload the extra materials, including lumber nails and paint. This company will not only play you on price, but they will also take materials that you have purchased. Buyer beware.

Ray arrived on time every day with a pleasant demeanor. He was willing to do any small things I found that needed attention, since this was not a new house. He worked quietly and meticulously and left his work area clean and neat every day. It was just a pleasure to have him around.

One anecdote: I had miscounted the amount of cash I gave him at the end, giving him $300 too much. He counted it and could have easily kept it-- I wouldn't have noticed. But instead he told me. I was so impressed...and grateful.

I paid the $75 for the fee and when I told them what was wrong they said they wouldn't do it and that they don't replace the whole thing. They were unable to help me.

Sales rep was very personable, (overly?) friendly. Roofers were a team of "cousins" who did not speak English. They were tardy, but finished on the same day. The clean-up seemed good enough, though I have found 4-8 nails in the back yard...mostly with my bare feet.
That said, the roof has held up beautifully for about a year, and I expect it to last many more. The roof vent is fine, and it looks great.
One last thing; I recommended them to a friend, and they never showed for her appointment nor called to explain why.
I first contacted Mr. Woods in March, 2013 and he was very prompt in setting up a time and then coming to my home in order to give me an estimate in getting a complete bathroom remodel done. I had been working with another company and had started to get uneasy about the way the job was going on the remodel of our house. The bathroom was the last room to be done.
Mr. Woods is very gentlemanly and did his best to reassure me that the work I needed done would be handled in a manner that would take all of the stress I had been experiencing with the previous company off my shoulders so I "signed on the dotted line" once I received the estimate --- one that was quite a bit lower than the other I got.
However, once we set up a day to begin work things began to go a bit downhill. There was a delay of about a week in the start date as the job ahead of me took longer than expected which wasn't that big of a problem but later, it became apparent that that time should have been used to have the electrician come out to do the rough in for the changes that needed to be made. He wasn't called in until the new dry wall was put in, making it necessary to open the new wall back up and doing a lot of patch work.
The plumber that they had lined up to install the sinks, toilet and tub got backed up at another job and was not able to come when needed so they had one of the on site workers who had plumbing experience do the work. Although I agreed to this (bad decision made under the stress of 4 months of remodeling) the end result was 1) hot and cold water facets being reversed 2) a toilet that doesn't flush properly and 3) a faucet that still leaks under the vanity ten months after the job was complete.
The back splash tile in the laundry room was never grouted and was installed so poorly that the backing paper stuck out on the edges of the work. I ended up ripping it out and redoing it. The protective plastic that was on the laundry room sink was never removed so I had to use a pair of tweezers to get it off in front of the faucet (which also was never tightened down and leaked)
These are but a few of the problems I experienced.
Mr Woods does get glowing reviews on his southern manners and demeanor, and seems to also have lots of people satisfied with his work. I do not know what happened with my job. I will end this review with a copy of a letter that I sent to his office manager. Their response was quite sympathetic and they did send someone out to try to fix the problems. The bathroom faucet, however, is still not able to be used as it is still leaking under the sink.
** additional information. The last contact that I had with Mr. Woods was in January, just before I was to leave out of town for two weeks. At that time he assured me that he would be out to repair/replace the faucet in the bathroom before I left. That was over a month ago and I still have not heard back from him.

I called and left a message telling them what I needed done. Waited over a week for them to call so I called back. Once we got hooked up things went pretty much smoothly. Rays sons were scheduled to come out and do the work on a Saturday. Then they called to say son had something else he had to do and we rescheduled. Not a problem for me. I was wondering why it was that his sons were doing the work but it turned out that they did a great job. I guess they are part of his regular crew and I can see why. They put in a pvc door frame, fixed up my threshold and rehung my original door which saved me a good bit of money . They did a great job cleaning up after themselves.
I did call and ask for someone to come back and square up the concrete corners for me a bit and he sent the sons back and they did a fabulous job. A bit messy with the plaster of whatever this time but I needed to paint that area anyway so it wasn't a big deal.
I'm not sure exactly what I paid for the work done (it was somewhere around $200.00) but it seemed pretty reasonable. All in all I was very pleased with the work they did. Also a mention of the woman that runs the office - she was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely use them again if needed.

Ray was very knowledgeable and professional when he cam out for the consultation. He gave us different options of window sizing and shapes to fit the space and a webiste from the window company to review the different products. Creating the new opening for the larger window required cutting through the concrete block exterior wall. This produced a large amount of fine concrete dust. Ray's crew made every effort to keep the dust contained to the room they were working in. We did have to leave the house without a window for one night, but placed a board over the hole to help keep the AC in and bugs out. They installed the new window, window sill, repaired drywall around the interior window, stucco around the exterior of the window and painted the wall. When they were done the widow looked great....but as we inspected it there was a scratch/dent in the frame of the window from damage when it was shipped. We called Ray and he came out to inspect the damage. We discussed the options on attempting to fix the window, but in the end decided to order a new window and replace it. The new windows kept arriving damaged, and by new order # 4 we recieved one without any issues. Ray's team had to rip out the old one and replace the new one, which was another full day of work. He was very patient with us through the whole process and wanted to ensure that the job was completed to our satisfaction. I would definately use him again.

They had to return to add support to some areas of the subfloor and to remove sticky residue on wall which they had painted over. Instead of using alcohol they used a scraper which left gouges in the wall. They also missed some areas in painting. Glue was spilled and tracked on carpet and tile.

The driveway was paved first, there was a delay because of a sub contractor. Ray stayed on top of things and got things moving. The finished job is fantastic. The garage was completed quickly and beyond expectations. The neighbors stop and tell us how great it looks. Ray stayed on top of the progress and quality. Tawny in the office was helpful and always had things organized. The crew worked hard and didn't spend the day standing around. It was a very good experience.

A painting crew was scheduled to come out the next day (and could not reschedule in the same month) to paint the entire exterior of my house. I was in the process of replacing two small sections of the soffit plywood when I noticed insect damage to the eave and rafter end at one corner after removing the plywood (I thought termites at first - actually carpenter ants). Not wanting the painters to paint over bad wood, and the repair job being more than I could do in the time available (with the roof connections involved), I called RWC and Ray came out to give me an estimate in a little over an hour. He quoted his minimum of $500 minus a $100 Angie's List discount. His guy arrived right on time the next morning and got to work before the painters arrived. He finished the job before lunch and the first coat of paint was successfully applied over solid wood. I gave a B on quality only because the work was slightly rough visually, but not out of line with other parts of of the house, and I know he was under great pressure with me and the painting crew scrambling about. I will use RWC again if the need arises.
First of all--I'm a bit tardy with this!!! Ray was a pleasure to work with!! Anefficient gentleman. I was very satisfied with the cost of the job. He took my phone call & came out promptly. His workers were very polite & hardworking. They cleaned up afterwards everything. Ray had to go out of state due to a family illness, but still stayed in touch. You know how wood in Florida rots, so when he reported that they had to replace some, I wasn't surprised. I paid 1/2 up front & 1/2 upon completion. The job took only a couple of days to do the majority of the work & a day or so to finish some touch-ups. I will use Ray Woods for any future roofing needs or other things as he is a general contractor.

I had 4 leaks in my roof 2 of them were very extensive, I placed a call with Mr. Woods and he met me the very next day, we discussed the best plan of action that would repair the leaks and he sent me an estimate 2 days later. I was very pleased he gave me 2 options of the type of repair and we discussed the benefits and shortcomings of both, I received the updated quote and work was started 2 days later. The day the roofers showed up they were prompt and professional and even allowed me to go up on the roof to see the damage myself, and explained what they were doing and assured me it would be fixed the first time. Mr. Woods even worked with me on some side repairs that I wanted to get done and was very fair on his pricing for materials and labor. The roofers were able to finish the repairs in one week even though it rained on them every single day, and while it rained they were kind enough to cover the leaks they hadn't gotten to with a tarp to keep the damage to a minimum. I am very happy with Mr. Woods and his crew and will recommend and use them again in the future.

They ran into a lot of problems with the door and that they shouldn’t have. Before they installed the door they took the measurements and when they got down to install it the measurements were wrong. The door didn’t fit but they took care of it.

Overall we are pleased. We had a few issues. The roof to the addition was not properly covered causing severe leaks in our kitchen which we had just remodeled. This caused drywall repair and repainting. We also had roofleaks after they were finished in our sunroom and bathroom which had to be repainted on the ceiling. We were recomended to switch to a propane tankless water heater which we would never do again because we now have to run the water in our master bath for about 15 minutes to get any hot water. We love the beautiful job they did on the front entrance and walkway. The bathroom and sunroom are beautiful also.
