RCI Renovations By Design

Was and continues to be a nightmare. Paid Olivia and Marlon Denkins of RCI and Addendum Remodeling and Design over 23 thousand dollars and after 16 weeks into a "6" week project they vanished leaving my home uninhabitable. At great additional expense we had to hire a new contractor to come in and rip out the horrible work they "attempted" to complete due to the poor quality. All we got from them were EXCUSES up until the time they disappeared....The pictures below show the condition my home was abandoned in.

But to sum things up my wife and I was awarded a judgment for 65k by a Judge in Harris county for abandonment of our house project by this company. The RCI Design team did the same to my wife and I as stated below. However, they took 30k from us. But the Judge granted us 65K because of the damage that was done to our home. Also chairs and designer rugs where removed from our home and never returned. Items were purchased and where never given to us such as two large chandeliers. Mrs. Denkins did not show up for arbitration. Her legal counsel withdrew from the case months before the arbitration. Her legal counsel happen to be her sister. I would not recommend this company to no one. Please read this review I found on another website. This review occurred a year after my house project. Marlon and Olivia Denkins do business as Red Chair Interiors and RCI Renovations By Design so I recommend caution if considering either company. They abandoned my house project before it was completed: their contract set a completion date of February 19th and the entire project was abandoned around March 23rd with only one small component of the project actually completed satisfactorily. They were hired to paint the interior walls, ceilings and trim, refinish all hardwood floors, completely remodel the master bathroom and replace the tub surround in the hall bathroom. - Hardwood floors were not properly sanded. - Patches that were required in the sheet rock were obvious and unsightly. Holes in the walls where drapery hardware had been removed were not properly filled and patched prior to painting. - Tile that was laid on the bathroom floor was uneven creating a serious tripping hazard. Tiles on the tub surround walls were not properly aligned or flush. Trim tile pieces were installed cracked. - Materials that were included in the cost of the project, such as bathroom vanity and vanity light, while paid for, were never delivered. The overall quality of their work was below industry standards according to contractors that provided estimates to complete the job. When requests were made for corrections, Mr. & Mrs. Denkins were defensive and argumentative. They were increasingly difficult to contact and unresponsive. They were consistently late for meetings and failed to meet project deadlines. When they abandoned the project, they left work poorly done and/or not done at all The contract they provided included a provision to terminate the contract via certified letter. Multiple attempts to send a certified termination letter to all known addresses failed as “undeliverable.” Olivia may be able to provide assistance with design ideas, but find another contractor to actually do the work. I had to hire all new contractors to repair, replace and finish work this husband/wife team promised to do. They took over $15,000 for work that had to be completely redone.

Never completed. 3 week project went on for 10 weeks and was never finished. Complete waste of time and money. Designer was incompetent. Olivia never finished tasks, was always distracted, did not remember design plans. I am pretty sure she has ADHD. They quit returning our phone calls, blocked our number and bailed out. We have not heard from them in over 3 weeks. They are liars and should not be trusted with anyone's money.

Olivia and Marlon helped me in both remodeling and designing my home. Throughout the project they were professional, punctual and communicative. Olivia did an excellent job at incorporating "high end" looking elements to my project while not going over my budget. I truly enjoyed working with RCI

We hired RCI Renovations By Design because after <br /> interviewing several different remodeling companies we found that they had <br /> great design vision and style but most importantly Olivia was able to show us <br /> how we could also make our  home comfortable and more functional for our <br /> family. <br /> <br /> Olivia is very gifted at turning visions into reality and had an amazing <br /> process for helping us figure out our style ( she help us choose our colors <br /> from our clothing and artwork), our budget, and the functionality of our <br /> kitchen. Red Chair <br />It has always been a pleasure working Olivia and Marlon of Red chair interiors. <br />Olivia is a good listener and very observant, she senses things about her clients style that they don't even know. I definitely believe that creating beautiful spaces is her gift. Olivia has helped guide me into becoming more of a design risk taker, from my very first project with them in 2011 to the last one in 2014, they have more than delivered. Olivia's cost saving ideas and Marlon's project management has always kept my projects on schedule and within budget. The quality of their work has always been stellar and done very professional. They have now done my whole house and I will be using them in the near future to do my outside area. <br />I highly recommend Red Chair Interiors and I thank them for all the work they've done in my home. <br />

Marlon and Olivia are the best! He is super organized and she is incredibly creative and have great ideas to get the look without the cost. They were very flexible with my schedule and time frame for my project. I had a three week window from beginning to end to make my home livable and lovely for me and my 2 little ones, my kids can't wait to go to their rooms when they get home. <br /> My budget and short time frame was overwhelming and stressful for me but Red Chair Interiors made it all happen without a single snag or delay.  <br /> I am very grateful to have Marlon and Olivia in my camp for future creative endeavors and will tell anyone that need design work and or remodeling services about this dynamic duo!

My family and I had a great experience working with Red Chair Interiors this past year. Olivia's bubbly personality and enthusiasm for design made us feel like anything was possible for our daughters dingy outdated bathroom. Marlon had the right temperament and management skills that kept our project on schedule and without problems. <br />Initially we were just looking for an updated standard bathroom because of the budget we had allocated for the project. What we got was so much more!!! Our daughter's bathroom is now the best room in the house. My husband and I are now looking forward to Olivia coming back to do the rest of our house. She is a great designer and God has truly blessed her with a gift and an eye for beauty! <br /> <br /> <br />

RCI Renovation by Design was referred to me by an colleague. I was nervous initially because I had never had remodeling work done to my home. I scheduled the consultation and was amazed by the presentation. They are a husband and wife duo that have over two decades of experience. I had received a few quotes but Marlon and Olivia of RCI had an added value that the other companies didn't. Olivia is a seasoned interior designer so I not only got the expert craftsmanship from a remodeling prospective but I got a custom design with all the bells and whistles. I have actually hired them again for a next project to remodel both my powder room and master bathroom. They are professional, personable, knowledgable and affordable. If you want a top notch job hire RCI Renovations by Design. They take the stress out of a remodel!

<br />Although the proposal was given in January they allowed me to maintain the pricing of the January bid. The work schedule was for four weeks the job was completed in three. The owners of RCI demonstrated a professional level of expertise.
