Mike is knowledgeable and was quite familiar with the workings of our generator. Contacting him was easy and he was very willing to answer our questions and respond to our needs. We were able to make an appointment with very little delay. He arrived on time, explained exactly what he needed to do, then spent several hours cleaning and adjusting both the alternator and the engine. Power characteristics improved significantly after he was done, for far less than the cost of a new generator. (Other companies just wanted to replace the unit.) I would strongly recommend him to anyone considering a new generator or needing service for an existing one.

It went very well. Only issue was time it took to begin project. Needed to be within an extended warranty timeframe. It was accomplished but we were nervous that it wouldn't.

I'd give them straight A's all of the way across. He's coming again next month.

I had four different companies quote me on the system. The whole transactions from front desk then was super. I don't want to to quote prices, then four or five other companies find out what Reliable is charging for their system, I don't believe in that. I don't purchase Kodak for thirty years, you don't have a company quote you a price, and then share it with others. If I give you the price, I would be sharing his price with others. I went online and purchased the generator, which was the majority of the cost online, and delivered it to the door, and they installed. No transportation charge, no tax. The electric and the gas line over to it. I would recommend them to anybody, who is thinking about buying something like that. The gentlemen who runs the business is super, the way he present his material. I worked at purchasing at Kodak for thirty years, when I dealt with the gentlemen, I knew his stuff. He had during the installation had the inspectors come inspect it. I had them come cut the power off, and asked for their service, no problem. Always time and prompt. The electrician and the gas line man was prompt. I had no problem at all. Its an one man band. Its not someone set up with million dollar warehouse. Its an one man band, but he is good at what he does.

Mike who I met from Reliable Power Systems (RPS), is professional and personable and went out of his way to treat me and my particular situation well.  Probably due to price and quality, which is why a co-worker recommended him, he is popular and therefore busy so that  maintenance visits are not usually available immediately.  However for the repair I needed during an outage, he was at my place very fast.  My generator's 'fail-to-start' happened before I bought the maintenance plan from RPS.  I figured I could do it myself, but it is not a small car engine in a box like I thought.  And now that we have medical equipment connected we need to make sure it is up and running 24x7.  Saving one fridge and freezer of food in a black out was sufficient payback for installing a generator, but keeping an oxygen pump running is critical, as is, I found, the piece of mind I get by going to sleep knowing my generator will start  everytime I need it, thanks to a proper maintenance plan.  Before I signed the maintenance contract, I did shop around some, and found that RPS adds things into their maintenance that others do not.  I asked Mike about it and he explained it to me very well, but I just can't remember the technical details.  I also found out that RPS is not as big as some companies, but to me this means I'm not getting some partly trained kid who is just rushing from job to job as fast as possible. From watching Mike work I can see that he is not only extremely knowledgeable (he mentioned something about certifications), but that he is methodical and thorough.  Those last two words describe RPS well.  And that's what I want in generator service while our life depends on it. <br />

Mike was excellent. <br /> Answered the phone personally on a Saturday and was obviously knowledgeable about the equipment even though it wasn't installed by his company.  He was able to pretty much assess (turns out he was correct) the problem. <br /> He came over the same day and performed a thorough maintenance and fixed the problem.  (In the course of doing so he remedied some issues that evidently dated all the way back to the original install.) <br /> I can't imagine anyone able to do a better job at servicing and maintaining this equipment.  <br /> Complete thumbs up and positive recommendation.   Very fair on pricing. <br />

I spoke with three businesses and Reliable was well below the other prices. In addition, Mike spent time with me explaining the different options and how the system operates. I was a well informed consumer by the end of this project. The electrician was excellent and went beyond my expectations. I am very confident that he did an outstanding job and left me with a better and safer electrical system. The plumbers were punctual and finished the job in the promised time. Overall, I believe Reliable gave me an excellent product and service for my money and I will be highly recommending Mike in the future. I couldn't be happier with the results. <br />

Another company, New York State Sitepower Corporation referred him to me, at their own expense, but I really appreciate the referral. I was impressed by the way he approached the work, and his willingness to come out and look at the job, and not send me a bill until all the work was done to my satisfaction. The repair he made was simple and had to do with the grounding system on the generator, which was something no one else had checked. It took him about an hour and a half to fix the problem. I was pleased that he came down when the weather was terrible, even when I suggested he could come on a warmer day. His knowledge of the mechanics was greatly appreciated.

They are excellent. I didn't realize that it was a bigger job than it is. We got to have approvals and presentations from the architectural review board of the city hall. He took care of it all perfectly. They were very professional. They weren't the cheapest, but as it turned out they ended up being less money than the other quote I received, because of some general recommendations/improvements. They were extremely neat. The quality of the work was excellent. With regard to responsiveness, they followed up and were ready. With regard to punctuality, they were very busy because it's generator time of the year in the middle of winter.

ReliablePowerSystemsReview <br /> I am extremely pleased with Reliable Power Systems, a small company that installs and services standby whole house generators.  They more than met my expectations with respect to cost, functionality, quality of the work, esthetics, and attention to detail.   The company is owned and operated by Michael (Mike) D'Angelo, who has an engineering background.   He uses two preferred subcontractors for the electrical wiring and gas line portions of the installation process. <br /> Many companies will give you a quote when they come to your house for a site visit.  Reliable Power Systems did not.  Because Mike uses subcontractors, he has to get quotes from them first.  Mike and I discussed the job extensively regarding how and where I wanted to have the generator located and installed.  He was the only company that seemed to be receptive to the idea of using a whole house transfer switch and locating it outside the house.  I have a finished basement and did not want to have to figure out how to put another electrical subpanel near my main circuit breaker panel.  In addition, I did not want to be limited to having only 10-14 circuits that would normally be supplied by the backup generator sub-panel wiring. <br /> The quote from Reliable Power Systems ended up being very reasonable because Mike does not put much markup on his cost of materials.  <br /> Mike is very familiar with the national and local safety codes that pertain to installing standby generators.  When it came time to get the building permit from the town, Mike went there to discuss the installation.  He convinced the town that the generator could be installed only two feet (rather than five feet) from the house because the house had a brick exterior face.  <br /> Originally, Mike and the electrical contractor thought that in order to meet the electrical code, they would have to locate the new <br /> transfer switch box 5 feet to the left of the electric meter.  That would not be very efficient in the use of electrical cable nor would it look very good.  As an alternative, he and the electrical contractor worked out a plan to lower the old electric meter and place the <br /> electric transfer switch box directly over the electric meter.  This installation ended up looking very nice.  <br /> The installation was done in February in upstate New York during winter.  On the actual day of installation, it was raining very hard during the morning.  In spite of the nasty weather and very wet and soggy conditions, the installation proceeded very smoothly.  Mike was on-site as needed during key parts of the installation.  Because the electric meter had to be moved, the installers coordinated with RG&E (the local electric utility company) to come and turn off power to the house and then reconnect it later. <br /> Also during the installation, the electrical contractor did extra work to bring the house panel wiring up to the current code by <br /> rearranging the ground and neutral wiring in the old panel box and supplying new earth grounds both inside and outside the house. <br /> Mike returned after the install to correct some issues that I had noticed after the initial install that involved minor manufacturing <br /> quality issues with the transfer box and the generator cover latch. <br /> To sum it up, I am extremely pleased with the work that Mike of Reliable Power Systems did with the installation of my whole house backup generator.  They more than met my expectations with respect to cost, functionality, quality of the work, esthetics, <br /> and attention to detail.  I would not hesitate to recommend his work to anyone else thinking of installing a standby generator. <br />   <br /> <br /> <br />

The owner, Michael D'Angelo responded to a call because I was informed my generator's alternator was bad from another company who was servicing it. Reliable Power Systems is an authorized service center for Briggs & Stratton. It turns out the other company was no longer certified to work on the equipment and did not receive updates on bulletins from the company. Michael not only fixed the problem which were incorrectly installed capacitors and not a failed alternator (the estimate to fix that from the other company was over $2K), he also corrected another problem which was 3 years overdue. This cost also included the yearly maintenance. Michael is reliable, thorough and honest and was able to conduct all repairs onsite.
