I highly recommend Rene Lopez and Renaissance Restoration. They have completed a number of jobs at my house. The latest involved renovating a garden room, which included repairing and painting walls, hanging new doors, re-plumbing a sink, installing recessed lights, rebuilding an outdoor stoop, and lots more. Rene does any project I've asked him to do well, and always does a little extra to make it even better. He discusses options with me and offers what usually turn out to be great suggestions. He always responds promptly to phone, email, or text questions, and always shows up when he says he will. He and his crew are a pleasure to work with, and I would definitely hire them again without hesitation.

This is the third time we have worked with Rene and Renaissance Restoration. Rene and his guys are a pleasure to work with, and they do high quality work. Work performed included: Repairing and painting walls in kitchen, family room, bathroom and laundry room Replacing track lighting with pendant lights with dimmer Power washing and painting large front porch floor and steps Replacing and painting a casement basement door. Rene is very accommodating with schedule, shows up when he says he'll be there, responds quickly to questions, and he and his team do beautiful work. We will definitely continue to look to Rene next time we need any carpentry, painting, or repair work.

Rene and his team were great! They were responsive, professional, communicative, and courteous and did a fantastic job repairing and painting the exterior of our sunroom. The paint job is beautiful and the corner they repaired even looks better than the rest of the addition now- wish the former house owners who had it built had known about this company! Feel relieved to have found a team that’s so reliable and easy to work with- already planning to hire them again for future projects.

I think it turned out well. I really can't say anything regarding quality because only time will tell me how well the concrete was mixed and cured.

All work met or exceeded expectations. Response times to phone messages were quick. The crew showed up when they said. They did some extra work that was not in the contract as well, without charging me.

Renaissance Restorations did a great job sanding, priming, and painting dark wood paneled walls in our family room (they did other smaller items but this was the big bulk of the work) - from start to finish, they were very professional and easy to work with. They're responsive, on time, worked hard, cleaned up after themselves, responsible, and very willing to change things when I noticed that I preferred the trim to be painted white instead of the beige color of the walls. They even finished a little bit earlier than originally anticipated. Love what a difference the painting did - it really brightened up the room and made a huge difference! We've had another company paint other parts of our house before and we were not quite that happy with that other company. Rene and his son, Jake, and the rest of the Renaissance Restoration crew were great - will look to hire them again for more items on our to-do list in the Spring!

They were courteous, clean, & extremely hard working. They did an outstanding job of painting the exterior trim of our whole home. We hired them back to paint our wrought Iron railings and all of the brick on the house. Awesome job.

I was very pleased with the performance of Renaissance Restoration and Renovations. I had several firms out to do quotes for the job. Mr. Lopez (the owner) came out to do the review. He took his time, pointed out what might be problems (I have a very old house) and discussed what he would do. His quote was not the lowest (nor the highest) but his was the most straightforward quote and his firm seemed the most reliable. The job went perfectly, the result is more than satisfactory.

This is the third time I've used Renaissance Restoration. Most recently, they replaced the risers and treads on two staircases, stained and poly'd them as well as installed wood flooring in the hallway. For this current job, all went very well. Once again, I am am very pleased with everything that was done. Rene and his team were always on time and stayed on task while working in my home for the 2 week job. We worked together to ensure that the design was aesthetically pleasing and functional. Rene is easy to discuss issues with and is very accommodating with changes. Price negotiators were non threatening for both parties. All in all, working with Rene produced a beautiful powder room and guest room. I will not hesitate to recommend him to others and would gladly call on him again if I need any additional work.

Rene Lopez, the owner, was very prompt and efficient in evaluating the work to be done and giving us estimates for a couple different approaches to our repair problem. He was very knowledgeable. The workmanship was excellent, the workers were extremely competent and polite. Everything was always left neat and clean at the end of the day. The job was completed within 10 days of the time we made initial contact with Mr. Lopez. They wanted us to be completely satisfied and were more than willing to go the "extra mile" if necessary. This is a company I would be happy to recommend and would not hesitate to do business with them again.

Fellow Angie-Listers,

I found Renaissance Restoration here on Angie's List. I was immediately intrigued based on the reviews I read here and the address of the business is within my neighborhood. I contacted them through Angie's List to see if they would be interested in submitting a bid to work on my kitchen and half-bath remodel that I had already started. Rene, the owner and name-sake (took me a while to get that) of the business, responded promptly and offered to come out for a free estimate. Now, at this point, my kitchen had been unusable for several weeks and I was not finding the time to progress it with any real speed. Rene came out the next day, Saturday, upon my request for a speedy turn-around so I could reclaim my kitchen. He showed up on time and took some measurements. He was friendly, courteous, and looked like he was taking careful notes as I rattled off my long ?to-do? list of what it would take to get the kitchen finished. I had received a few other bids for the work, but I was immediately sold on Rene. We agreed on a price right there and scheduled the work to begin within a couple of days.

Now, I can't speak for Rene and say that he does this for all his customers, but we worked things out so that I would pay his team on a per-hour contract to get the job done. Everyone is different, but I much preferred this arrangement. I wanted the workers to be able to do a nice job without cutting corners to meet an often arbitrary quoted price and if I didn't like their work I could simply thank them for their time and continue on with the work myself (or more likely, find another crew). Spoiler alert! Everything worked out well so I didn't have to go that road.

When construction started, the first morning, Rene and two of his carpenters showed up right on time. They introduced themselves politely and we immediately got to the business of going over what I wanted to accomplish in my kitchen. Again, they took careful notes and once they got started, I went about with other business. I quickly felt very comfortable letting them into my house unsupervised. I did check in at several points during the day and they made good progress; I had no doubts that they were working hard. After a few days, they had accomplished everything I had asked of them and then came back for a couple of hours to correct a couple of issues I had with their work. There was nothing major, just a few cosmetic issues, and if I recall correctly, they did not charge for their time to correct things.

At this point, I had them take a few days off and I worked myself to progress the kitchen. They had all the skills required to continue the kitchen and were certainly willing to do the work. I was just trying to save myself a little money and also I needed a few days break from the mayhem of construction. With that said, Rene and his team left the construction area a lot more tidy than I did. I had my tools all over the place and I have to say that I was really impressed that they never mistakenly took any of my tools home with them. I think that really illustrates their organization on the job site. At this point I'll just say that I provided all of the essential construction items for the job and had Rene pickup (with some surcharge) lots of those smaller items that always come up. Even though I bought all the fixtures, doors, toilet, flooring, etc. ahead-of-time, they were kind enough to pick up some of the last-minute bulky items I grabbed from The Home Depot without charge.

About a week later, I had the workers back on the job and because of their success, I had asked them to remodel a half-bath that is adjacent to the kitchen. So they were here in total, five days and were able to do my partial kitchen and my entire half-bath. The work that they did was: Install kitchen cabinets, fix dry-wall, primed the walls, Laminate flooring, back-splash tile, connected the kitchen sink, installed the garbage disposal, installed a toilet, replaced a door, built a shelf, installed a vent pipe for the oven range hood to the outside, replaced electrical outlets and switches, installed a new bathroom vanity top, did I miss anything Rene?

These guys were pretty multifaceted. If you're still reading this, then you should understand that I can be a very detailed oriented person. I would write more but Angie's List only allows so much. :) Rene worked well with my sometimes exacting personality. His team always took careful notes of what work was to be done. On one day in particular, they showed up in the afternoon, as scheduled, but instead of moving forward, they went home because they had lots of questions for me but I was unreachable at that time. I was disappointed that the work had to stop, but I appreciated that they would rather wait for me to get my input than to just forge ahead and then I'd just have to live with the consequences. So that leads me into my only problem that I occurred on the project.

During a discussion that Rene and I had about the project, Rene had told me that the kitchen sink was going to be a little bit tricky to install so because of that, he would have to bring in his plumber. I knew going into things that the sink I had ordered was going to be a tight fit, so I had already budgeted for a plumber. I gave Rene a verbal OK and we moved on. The next construction day, the plumber came and told me that the sink wasn't going to be too bad to install; it would just barely fit with the pipes the way they were. Great news; I went to work. That same night I received a follow-up email from Rene supplying me an itemized list of all the work the plumber had done and it equated to hundreds of dollars. I was a bit shocked because it included several line-items for work in the half-bath, none of which we had talked about doing. Installing a toilet and installing a new sink/faucet is not highly skilled work requiring a plumber, assuming there's no broken pipes, broken flanges, etc. Also, I never was consulted on any of the work and never quoted a price on it so I did feel a bit ticked-off at that point because the project was almost done and it had gone so smoothly up to that point.

The next day I summoned Rene to the house and we talked it over. We resolved the issue by his giving me a break on the price, but as soon as we closed on that deal, he went on to disclose that the gentleman he had do the plumbing work was not actually a licensed plumber. Rene insisted that a licensed plumber would have cost a lot more. However, I had already gotten some quotes from licensed plumbers for that work and his original prices were right in line with most of them. I'm really not sure what happened there, but I didn't like how it happened. I felt like all of this could have been avoided with a phone call because I would have probably been OK with just having his guy go ahead and do most of the plumbing work. Because he was doing pretty basic work, I wasn't too worried about pipes bursting or nasty back-flow, but I didn't like that I was being billed for work that I had no say in, from a guy that was referred to as ?the plumber? and would be expected to pay whatever this guy wanted to receive.

The agreement I had with Rene was to pay him per hour, for two workers. Truth be told that often it was the case that there were the two main workers, and one or two other workers also in the house at no additional charge. So again, I wouldn't have given him a hard time on this plumbing stuff because I appreciated the hard work and the additional help that showed up, I just didn't like how it unfolded. I don't think it was intentional, just bad communication.

In the end, I still got what I believe to be a really good deal on a handsome new kitchen and bathroom. The work they did, rough and finish, was professional. Again I'll say, the crew worked really hard and I was really impressed by that. If they didn't mind my detail-oriented nature too much, I look forward to having them work here again and I have already recommend his team

Excellent. Rene, the owner, was punctual from the first visit through the last. He understood the work that needed to be done - both prepping the house for painting and repairing some rotted out places. He promptly provided a somewhat high estimate. We liked him and wanted to work with him, but received a few other lower estimates. After talking to him, he agreed to do the job for the price we suggested. They started work exactly when they said they would. Manuel worked from dawn to dusk with a short break for lunch for three weeks with help from some other workers when necessary. He started the day with a huge smile, and ended by cleaning up thoroughly after each day's work. He is a very hard worker. He did a beautiful job of preparing the house before painting. The repair work (not sure who on the team did the carpentry work) was also done beautifully. A team of ~7 painters completed the paint job just before the cold weather hit. The painting is very neat and well done. Aside from a few trodden-upon bushes, there was no damage to anything. The house looks beautiful. We couldn't be happier with their work and they were a pleasure to work with. We will definitely hire them again.
