Renew-It Refinishing

I had my tub and surround refinished in Spring of 2014. A couple of times, I had to call the company owner and let him know there were problems with the finish, and he sent someone out to fix it. Matt (owner) was very nice. I contacted him again in October of 2016 to let him know I again was having problems with the tub finish. He said he would look into it and get back to me. I am still waiting. I would love Matt to contact me and make this right. I have attached photos of the tub from the fall of 2016 until now.

They were very prompt and worked hard. We weren't aware the tub had been covered previously, so they let us know up front that they would need to strip it and re-do the entire thing. This did cost more than the original price, but it we so reasonable! We could not be more thrilled with how our tub looks now. So happy we chose refinishing rather than buying a whole new tub. So very well worth it! Mike, Pete and Matt were awesome to work with! Give these guys a try!

They did a great job re-stripping an old tub that had been done poorly 3 times before.  It now looks like a very new tub. <br />

<p>Came over and inspected, then gave a price. After they started, they wanted more money for items they had not counted. </p> <p>The workmanship was terrible, Runs and dimples all over the surface. Overspray everywhere. I had to repaint both rooms. They would not come back and inspect. I threatened to call the State and file a complaint on their bond. They came out and inspected, and then said it needed redone. When I called to have it redone, they said no, it was fine. </p> <p>I took pictures and sent them to the parent company. They parent company said it was unacceptable. Finally they sent out a person who redid the bottom floor bath, and was going to come back to finish the other. He never did.</p> <br />

Refinished my bath tub.  He did a great job and was able to do it while I was gone.  My only issue is that it has start to peel a few years later. <br />

Really great work.  Nice guys, including communicating over weekend and determining a time up front and job price from the description I offered. Work done as bid and the tub looks like new.

The first visit was easy to schedule, and the technician arrived on time. He was professional in his demeanor, but after just a few days, we noticed a few chips in the bathtub, some on the sides of the tub. I tried calling Renew-It several times, but they never returned my call. After calling from another phone, I was finally able to get through. They finally came out and did fix the chips, but I had to pay $80 more for a textured surface for the job to be covered. They claimed that we had to have dropped something on the tub. We were extremely careful and sure we did not drop anything; although, I would expect this type of product to be quite solid. Then, again, just a few days later, we noticed some peeling on the top side of the tub where we defintiely could not have dropped anything. <br /> I don't know if it was the product or the way it was applied, but I'm disappointed that I paid to have my tub refinished, only to result in an imperfect tub in the end. I've had this type of service done in the past by a different company and at another home and do not recall having this issue. <br /> <br />

They provided a quote over the phone, scheduled at the same time, and got it done! The tub was located in a vacant rental unit. It was a two-day process and the job was completed when promised. No mess left behind, just a beautiful tub that looks like new. What a difference!

Renew It assessed the damage - knew they could repair it and went about to do just that. They worked on the damage and repaired it beautifully!

We thought it was extremely expensive. We told them we had some repairs and refinishing done before, so they charged us an extra $400 for one bathtub, so $400 to fix the previous repairs and $400 for this repair. They didn't lay down any protective coating or anything in the bathroom when they did the first tub. So when they came back the next day, my wife asked if they were going to clean it up and they said they don't do that. <br /> <br /> The finished quality wasn't good. Parts of the finish were silky smooth, some had orange peel, and a few felt like sand paper, and some spots had holes where they hadn't been filled with epoxy, some had hose rub where the paint was completely gone from the finish, and a few places they had painted over debris which caused the paint to strip off when the debris broke free. <br /> <br /> The second tub wasn't as bad as the first tub, but the quality was still not good. There were still debris chips, rough spots, orange peels, and runs. They did not clean up the mess after the second repair as well. They dismantled my showerhead and left it in pieces on the floor. I ended up having to put it back together myself, only after dismantling the other to be able to get it done right. There is paint all over my floor, walls, cabinets, drain boards, sink, grout, towels, tooth brushes, everything in the bathrooms. We had moved everything away from the tub area, but we assumed something would be put down to prevent paint getting all over the bathroom. So now I have to take the time and money to have everything either repainted or cleaned. <br /> <br /> When we called the owner, he said he would come out and check it out. He didn't come the first day he said, and when he finally came out after we called and asked again when was coming, he said they needed refinished, he said they would send the "better" guy to refinish them. This "better" guy missed his appointment, so we  had to call yet again to ask what happened to this "better" guy. So they ended up sending the same person. The same guy said he wasn't told to refinish them and was just told to repair the chips and the drips, but ended up doing nothing, including failing to clean up the mess. He made my wife cry, who then called me while I was at work because she didn't want to deal with it. We then got into an argument over the phone over the quality of his work, and then he hung up on me and left. He was upset since we weren't happy with the job and said the bathtub was cracked and would have had to charge an extra $500 more to do it, even though they had already charged us $400 extra to do it in the first place. We had put down $250 as a down payment, plus $800 for one bathtub, $400 for the second. I now cannot get ahold of the owner on three or four different phone numbers. I have tried to call them a few times today, but he no longer answers or returns my calls.

Professional, courteous, clean, and fast. You will not be disappointed in how they make your item look brand new.

We hired Renew-It refinishing to refinish our bath tub. Our initial contact with them was very prompt and smooth. One of their employees came by as scheduled and refinished the tub. He was very courteous and informed us that there were areas that were not completely covered and provided a card to contact him in a few days to schedule a touch up. While the tub for the most part looked great, we did notice a palpable "graininess" on every surface in the bathroom from the spray finish that was used. While this is not visible it does reflect a poor application and clean up job.  It was fairly obvious that the job was incomplete because the original tub color was different than the white that we chose to refinish with, thus the touch up that he recommended we would need. <br /> Three months of phone tag (several weeks would go by between his call back, most time I had to call multiple times in order to get a response), we arranged for him to come back to touch up the areas that had not been properly covered.  In the end it was not until I called the general manager (rather than this particular employee) that we finally had a scheduled date and time to complete the touch up. On the morning of that appointment the employee called again and stated that he was not sure whether he would be able to fit us in the schedule that day. We expressed our frustration at the situation and he did end up coming at the scheduled time to refinish the tub. It is now six months after the original date of the refinishing and we have noticed a chip in the tub where the original colored finish is now showing. I placed another call to schedule a touch up and then a follow up call after not hearing back after one week. Several months later we finally were able to get in touch with Matt, the owner and he sent out another employee Max to finish the tub. Again a few months after that we had issues again with chips and peels. <br /> <br /> I do not recommend working with this company. I am highly dissatisfied both with their finished work and their lack of responsiveness. <br /> <br /> <br /> UPDATE: 5/5/2015 It is now one year later and we are still experiencing more chips on our tub. I have placed at least three phone calls if not more over the past year and each time I leave a message and get transferred to another employee. At two points I was asked to send pictures of the chips via email to an email address, and neither time I got a response. Once over the phone I actually emailed from my phone WHILE ON THE PHONE with the contractor and he confirmed he had the photo and stated that this was likely due to a faulty application and that he would call to schedule a refinishing and I never received a call back. Take your business elsewhere, this whole experience has been a nightmare. We now have a tub that is in worse shape than when we first finished- and not only that but the whole surface of the bathroom (walls, tile floor, surround) now are coated with a grittiness that is likely due to a poor job covering these surfaces before spraying the finish.

Let me begin by saying the final outcome was acceptable - not perfect, but okay. However, getting here was not easy. <br /> In late February we had our tub refinished. The result was unacceptable -- wrinkles in the finish, streaks and swirls. We called Re-new It as soon as we saw the problem and requested the come take a look. We thought the sooner they came out, the easier it would be to correct. That was a Saturday late morning. They did not come to the house until the following Thursday afternoon.  <br /> The owner and the guy who did the work claimed the issues could only have come from our having touched the tub prior to the coating being set. We did not touch the tub and were not the cause of the issues that were clearly visible. They did agree to re-do the tub, which was completed about 10 days after this second visit. <br /> On the day the tub was to be re-refinished, I requested a call from Renew-it so I could meet them. No call came. I called the office and was told someone would get back to me. Another hour went by with no call, so I called again. Again, I was told someone would call me. When I got a call from the owner, he said he "could not find" his "guy" so we'd have to schedule for the next day. I said this was very inconvenient to which Matt said that if we had not touched the tub in the first place they would not have to re-do it. I told him that we had nothing to do with the result of the tub and that this was very poor customer service. <br /> They did show up the following day and they basically reshot the coating without stripping. There are a few bumps but it's okay. <br /> I would not recommend this company based on their terrible customer service and the cavalier attitude the owner displayed. If at any point in this process the owner had said that he was sorry for the outcome or that this was unusual or that he was not sure how this could have happened but they'd take care of it, I may not be quite as upset. However, being accused of deliberately marring the surface of the tub more than once and essentially accused of lying is unforgivable. <br />

Wow! I am a believer! I have been told to get my old tub re-finished and just could not begin to realize that it would turn out as incredible as it did. Matt and Joel were wonderful to work with. Matt was responsive and put my project on his books as soon as he could, which was almost the next day. Joel came in and did a magnificent job. Wish I knew how to upload my pictures, but suffice to say, "I am ecstatic" with the results. I don't believe I mentioned Angie's List to Matt, however he gave me the $50.00 discount anyway. The application of this non-slip surface to my shower floor went very well. The technician was very nice and thorough. He used an acrylic based liquid solution mixed with a specialized type sand, to which he added color to match as closely as possible, the shower floor. It took him awhile to be satisfied with the color.  It turned out very nice.  After application, I was not to use the shower for 24 hours.  I waited longer than that, just to make sure it was completely dry.  The solution has a strong odor to it, reminding me of the first time I entered a nail salon where acrylic nails are applied.  That took a day to go away, and I was glad to have that go!  This morning I just took my first shower on the new surface.  I am so pleased with this, and feel completely sure I will not fall in my shower due to slipping. In the past, after I used hair conditioner, the surface of my shower floor became slick.  Today was the first time I did not worry about that.  I am so happy with this service!

They were very responsive my calls and scheduling went well  The technician did the job but we were not very happy with the results, and once they came back out to address my concerns, they agreed as well it was not performed well. They fixed the issues quickly.
