I can not recall the final amount paid. It was somewhere between 300-500.
The initial experience was fair. I had gotten a big deal and used it for the screen repairs. He repaired screens in older windows but didn't paint the wood surrounds so it looks half finished. The workmanship was mediocre. As for the finishing/painting, this should have been done before the screens were attached. I had expected this to be much higher quality.
Javier measured and ordered the screens and deadlights for my oddly shaped dining room windows. He was going to install them. When I reached out for him to do this work, I had found out that his phone had been disconnected and he was no longer in business. I never did find out what happened. I ended up having to hire a handyman to complete the work.
It appears that he is back in business. But based on my experience, I would not hire him again.
They did a good job, they were here, they showed up when they told me they were coming. They delivered the window at the price we negotiated. Very good. Very responsive. Very helping .They explained everything very well.

Measured and ordered Screens/Storms for old casement windows in dining room. Installed the storm in the one window that does not open and screens in the others. Was to come back to put hardware on and put on storms later in the fall but evidently, went out of business before that could happen (with no notice at all). Repaired several screens. Replaced some wood around old screens.
Was rather sloppy in appearance when he arrived for the estimate (BIG DEAL PURCHASE) but opted to go with the work as I'd paid for it and he seemed knowledgable and trustworthy. Added the custom screen/storm after asking him about it and was disappointed when the hardware came in a shiny finish rather than something less visible (and white as I'd been led to believe). The windows are high up and Javier suggested that I wait to install the hardware for the storms until later in the fall and he'd come back to do so. When I tried to call, his phone had been disconnected. Went back on Angies list to find that others had similar experiences and that he'd gone AWOL. Very unprofessional. Disappointing.

They are very thorough. There's no doubt that if we have the budget to entrust the job to them, they will do an excellent job. These people are really specialist. They are the people you leave with your antique window. They gave us multiple options for the window restoration. They were very helpful. They were very professional.

I am in a 100 year old house and I have these set of window doors. They are old and I know that there was some rotting at the bottom. The doors did open but they were not in great condition. The cost to take them off and fix them up so they would be solid, look better, and be better was $2000.00. It wasn't a surprise to me, the price was pretty much on point. We made an agreement. He said he was going to have to board it up. I asked how long it would take. He told me four or five days. I thought it would be a week. He took the doors off. It wasn't done on time. What I got is his mother went into the hospital and you tend to feel a lot of sympathy. He said his mother does not speak English well and he had to be there to translate. It went on for a while and there was a point where I called and I didn't get a response back. His fiance finally called and told me he was at the hospital. About two, two and a half weeks later he came back and started installing them and it wasn't working that well. He showed me pictures of how he stripped all the paint off but it did not look like a completely finished job. They didn't visually look that much better but I did notice at the bottom where he fixed the rotted part. The problem is that the doors no longer really close, they don't latch. He worked on it but the doors just are not connecting. I don't know what to do about this. I don't want to spend any more money on this but I would like them to latch. As bad as they were before I could open and close them relatively easily, and now I can't. It is just very disappointing. I believe that the doors are sturdier than they were before but I would like them to close so the door will latch. I don't think he did everything he was supposed to do.

I purchased a "Big Deal" with Window Restoration Doctor for 4 hours of expert window repair work for, I believe, $299. I made the appointment with Javier, the owner. I was out of town the day before the appointment, but left and drove half the night in order to make my morning appointment with him. However, he did not show up or even bother to call. My all-night drive was for nothing. When he finally called a day later he mumbled something about "family issues" and barely apologized. He rescheduled and did keep that rescheduled appointment. I showed him my 2 windows (both elaborate muntined windows) and discussed the options. He gave several options of which the one I could afford was to have the windows taken out, reglazed with glazing compound, add spring bronze weatherstripping, replace the parting beads (narrow wood dividers) and sash cord with sash chain, and rehang the windows. No stripping or repainting or rebuilding. He said it would take 5 or so hours for his guys to do both windows. Then he told me the Big Deal did not include materials and that that would be an additional $275! For what, I asked. I made him give me a materials list and I bought the items at Boston Building Resource Ctr (member prices for $25 annual membership fee) and the materials for the 2 windows came to about $85 with some left over for another window or two. Just sayin.
Our 3rd appointment he cancelled via email the morning of due to a death in the family, so you cannot fault him for that, it's just very sad what they were going through. So I decided to let bygones be bygones except that other reviews state he has been sloppy with other customers' time as well. You may want to be prepared for several no-shows before he finally shows up to do the work.
He did come for our 4th appointment. Quality of work? Hmm. I have read he really knows his stuff and that may be the case. He did a great job on one window. It now moves smoothly in its frame, and has the weatherstripping which should help with winter chills. The other one won't stay up, it sags a few inches in its frame. I called the day after he was here when I noticed this. It is over a month now, no call back. His phone is disconnected. Who knows what is going on? I have one window I am happy with, and the other one droops in its frame. Not a great outcome from someone supposed to be an expert.
Overall a very disappointing experience. I hope Javier's family and circumstances improve, I do believe he has expert skills when he is "together". It just wasn't my experience.
I hired Javier Rosales (Restoration Window Doctor) on July 19, 2012 to replace 17 windows in the condo I was buying, many of which would not open or close properly which was becoming unsafe. Today, on 09/13 I don't have windows and I don't have my deposit of $3825.00, despite many attempts on my part to get either one. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will be heading to small claims court to try to recover my money for work that was never done. This is the only problem I have had with several people I found on Angie's list to do work in the condo and it has been a terrible experience. I would strongly discourage anyone from hiring him.

Javier came when we scheduled. He ran into problems removing the old windows. He then brought in some more people and was able to get them out. He installed the new windows and replaced all the rotten wood around the windows. He rebuilt the frames and installed the windows beautifully.

I retract my previous report based on what happened following a good score on Angieslist and payment for work.
There was no follow through with Javier. As soon as he was paid he stopped communication, stopped final work. I had to call another person to fix a window he did not fix. Also, he couldn't get the screens in properly so I had to pay for that separately by another company. I still need to go and pick up one screen that way made specially for a window.
Lesson learned on my end. Hope you learn from this experience as well.
Response from Restoration Window Doctor
"To all angieslist customers, please read what this customer wrote in her first sentence. It doesn't make sense to me that she writes me a great report 2 months ago then finally chooses to write me a bad one. Will all do respect the work was done and i was paid just like she said. There was no future work shedule. In fact I have proof that the proposal was signed and dated by the customer and work was fully completed."

Initially contacted Javier in response to his $99 Angies's list promo. When he came on site and inspected my problem windows (I had several), he assessed that two were in need of full restoration and that the $99 (four hours) would be consumed on just those. In addition he estimated that materials would be needed and priced that for me at $250 per. After discussion I decided to proceed.
Javier and one team member arrived on the scheduled date. They did the job exactly as they had in the plan and in the stated time window, with completely satisfactory results. They showed me all the new installed pieces and smooth function. They were very neat, using heavy drop cloths on my carpets.
In summary, I am very happy with the results, and I am now more educated about the work and cost involved if I choose to do more windows in the future.

I had purchased 4 hrs of service for the big deal. Javier came to look at the job promptly and was very pleasant and professional. He struck me right away as honest and knows that the quality of service and work is everything as that is what his reputation is all about. My work order included screen repairs on old windows in a 96 year old house and storms for some odd sized windows. This was work that i had been putting off for years and I am glad to have waited for the window restoration doctor. Javier arrived right on time and he and his brother did exceptional work in exactly 4 hours including some minor carpentry work, screen repair and storm install. He had to do a bit more carpentry work due to some old rotted wood and did not charge me for it. He was pleasant, and cleaned up all at the end. I would highly recommend him and will use him again for bigger window jobs in the future.

We moved into our house about two months ago and inherited some broken glass in some storm windows. After searching around for someone to repair them, we stumbled upon Javier and an Angie's List Deal. After a couple rocky starts, Javier came by, diagnosed the problem, took the broken storm window panes to his colleague, picked them up when repaired, and reinstalled them. Javier also gave us guidance on minor maintenance we could do to prolong the life and performance of the windows. Javier is extremely personable and knowledgeable about his business.

The only reason Javier gets a B overall (and for punctuality and responsiveness) was that we had originally contacted him in the midst of him having to unfortunately go through a family emergency. In the process, our first appointment had to be rescheduled (he called the night before) and our second appointment was a complete no-show (but understandable in light of the family emergency). However, it did take over a week for Javier to reach out and reschedule. Javier was on-time for the third appointment (my second morning off) and was early for the wrap-up/re-install. I am confident that without Javier going through a family emergency, this would have been an A experience.

Javier was very professional. I discovered him through an Angie's List coupon. He returned my call right away and came in a few days to look at the work and write up a detailed estimate. He scheduled us for the next week and came exactly when he said he would. Our garage windows were very old and had to be completely rebuilt. One garage window faced our shed but they were still able to put in new glass. Our attic windows are an odd shape so Javier took them to his house to work on the new screens. Several of the new screens began to sag after installation and others are ok.

Quite simply, everything about this experience was exceptional. We called Javier in response to an advertisement on Angie's List. He replied promptly and scheduled a visit to diagnose our problems within the first few days of our phone call. He was extremely accommodating with regards to our work schedules. He provided an estimate and came back exactly when he said he would to finish the job. In fact, it was a Saturday. Everything came out great. He even did some things that were not originally planned in order to ensure the best possible outcome. Perhaps most impressively, Javier was extremely personable, making him a pleasure to work with. Overall, I would recommend him or hire him again without hesitation.

I needed some replacement windows fixed in my new home. Some would just slam down. It's a philly style house with about 40 windows and the company who installed the windows wouldn't deal with me since I was the new owner. I used this site to find "The Doctor" (aka Javier). He quickly responded, came over and gave a quote for labor. While he was there, he noted that some windows needed adjustment, not new pieces. So he fixed those. Honest man. He spent days trying to get in contact with the unresponsive company and finally was able to locate 4, count them only 4 broken pieces. the remainder of the windows he fixed! He also redid 4 screens that had holes in them.

he's still trying to work with me and the company. he is also providing me references for other work.

Javier is a very professional and nice person. I highly recommend him.

I was very pleased with everything. I called his number but got interrupted while it was ringing and had to hang up. He returned my missed call a few minutes later and arranged to come the next day to measure the pane, then came back the next day to install it. He was prompt, neat and pleasant, and did a very nice job.
