I started in the building trades in 1977 building houses. In 1996, I took the MI State Test for builders and passed. I have designed and built 5 Star Energy Efficient Homes, and American Lung Association Health House. I have designed and built homes made with every building material out there wood, steel, concrete, structural insulated panel (SIP), and insulating concrete forms (ICF). In 2000, I took a class on home inspections. After doing a number of inspections with my instructor, I started doing them on my own and started my company R. F. B. Home Inspections L. L. C. I have inspected new construction for clients as well as homes that were over 100 years old. Every home, no matter how old, is inspected as if I were going to be buying it. In order to do this, the customer should expect to spend approximately 3 to 4 hours with me on inspection day. I will point out deficiency as I find them, put them in my report, and document them with pictures.

Rick is extremely knowledgeable and has considerable experience as a builder so he brings this knowledge to the inspection process. I have used him before and am amazed at his ability to diagnose an issue as to the cause and also clearly describe the options for repair and recommended repair strategy.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Rick. His costumer service is nothing shy of excellent! Rick is very knowledgeable and thorough, he showed true honest professionalism. He took the time to explain how the things in the home work as well as home safety, rather than other inspectors that would just fly through the inspection and let the report do the talking. Rick is a very thorough inspector. I have used his services twice now. Rick saved me a lot of money by finding issues on a home that looked good from the street but nowhere else. We walked away from that house with all the issues that it had or that it could have in the future. My wife and I used him for a second time and found the second house to be well worth the money. I read the reviews like most people do and found his reviews to be spot on for the quality of work he does. I would tell anyone looking for a quality inspector to choose Rick, you won't regret it!

I hired Rick to inspect our new build and test our basement for radon. He was prompt, thorough, knowledgeable, accommodating, and went above and beyond. We had our detailed inspection report complete with pictures soon after. As an added bonus he's great with kids (we brought them along) and patient. Rick is a very thorough and patient inspector. He and his team spent close to four hours going through the house and answered all my silly questions. Being a first time home buyer I would definitely say I got a home education (as promised). His report has all the pictures he takes on the inspection, and a clear summary of the issues on the first page. Rick encouraged any questions we had, and looked at things we thought were issues and gave his feedback.We could see all the good things about the house, so appreciated his keen insight on all the "bad things / issues". Rick even took my call a couple of days later as I had some follow up questions regarding his findings. I highly recommend Rick as a home inspector.

Rick is a very detailed guy. He and his assistant spent more than three hours to check everything even though the weather was really bad. I followed him during the inspection and learned many things. He pointed out several key issues. He's polite and patient. I would highly recommend him if you need a home inspection.

Rick does a great job making sure you know what you are going to buy. He take pictures and documents his finding for future reference. The inspection we had done our on first home was great. R.F.B was there a little before the scheduled time and got to work right away. Inspecting the roof and all nooks and crannies of the house. After he was completed he walked us threw the house and pointed out everything he found and told us what he recommended. Being our first house my husband and I were very conscious about who we wanted to higher and after some searching decided on R.F.B Home Inspections. It was a great choice for us and a great first home buyers inspection experience. Would defiantly recommend him to anyone.

I was very impressed with the level of professionalism and time taken to do the job right. Richard approaches his work with the best interests of the client in mind. He is very open with suggestions and ideas for best courses of action. He took the time to explain everything he found along with the level of risk it posted.
