We had the pleasure of working with River Mill Construction for our Screened Porch project. We had originally worked with Matt back in 2019, and finally in the Spring of 2025 were able to begin the project. Every step of the way was very well executed. The initial plans were clear, concise and accurate. During the construction phase we got to know our builders Mike and Tom, who are absolute rock stars and know exactly what they are doing. We built a very large screened porch with some tricky roof integrations which required the utmost skill and confidence. Everything was done exceeding our expectations and we loved working with the team at River Mill. The build team was incredibly conscientious while working around our home, they would spend extra time sealing off the work areas to limit dust and debris, cleaned up their workspace daily, and were "Meticulous" about their craft. I felt as though they put the same care and effort as if they were working on their own home. They were very flexible and willing to make and discuss any design changes needed. I would highly recommend them for your custom screened porch project!

I cannot think of a time when I have been so completely satisfied with a contractor from beginning to end. Matt Pomeroy and his crew made the entire process extremely easy for us. I don't have a single complaint and we are absolutely thrilled with the results, which are truly stunning The project we chose certainly wasn't cheap but the final product was worth every single penny we paid. The crew worked very hard and very diligently all the way through to completion and was always careful in whatever they did to take care of our property.

Access to the rear of our condo was very difficult as we are on a ravine in the middle section of a 6 unit building. Although the effort required was considerable, the River Mill team was always professional and focused. They obviously take great pride in their work. The job was completed on schedule with minimal disruption to our home. The new windows have proved to be energy efficient and were seamlessly installed. The owner, Matt Pomeroy, was thorough and responsive from the initial estimate, plans and permitting, through completion. We highly recommend River Mill Construction!

I was referred to River Mill Construction to obtain drawings for my fence and screened in porch. Matt Pomeroy drew up very detailed plans to submit to the city for a permit. Everything was 100% and Matt was very quick to respond and answer all of my questions and also offered suggestions. You can definitely trust that River Mill Construction will get the job done accurately and for the right price! They did a great job. They were always professional and always showed up when they said they would be here. For several weeks after the initial installation, we experienced some leaking during rains. Matt and his crew kept working at the issue until they got it right. Matt was great to work with and promptly answered/returned calls until the work was totally complete.

Great design and craftsmanship

Took far longer than it needed to. There were days (many) when no one showed up.

We couldn't be more pleased. Each project was done on time and on budget, and we were impressed with the level of communication we had with the builder. They really cover every base! It was a pleasure to sit down with Matt and design our project, exploring ways to get the look we were going for without blowing the budget. The quality of the work is top-notch and the guys who were on the jobsite every day were polite and kept the project area clean and orderly (which was important because we lived in the house during much of the remodel. We're truly happy customers!

They did a great job. It did take a little longer, but they found damaged frames that need to be replaced.

<p>Matt from River Mill was very responsive to my request for an estimate to tear down my existing screened porch and build a 3-Season room.  He had drawings within a week, and when we met to discuss the project, he had good ideas and understood the permitting process and the specific cost of different products.  We signed the contract and payment was due in installments, which was absolutely fine.  The room was 12X20 (with a cathedral ceiling) and cost $67,000.  His team built an incredibly beautiful and quality Sunroom that we are very pleased with.  It exceeded our expectations as to quality and functionality.  We suggested a certain type of window, and Matt was very accommodating and found exactly what we wanted.  We added a heater/A/C unit just recently, at Matt's initial suggestion, that should make the room comfortable year-round.  We had a problem moving an electrical line in our yard, and Matt kept on the electricians until they did it correctly.  So, his follow-up was excellent.</p> <p>The process of building was not easy or fun.  Expect a large dumpster in your drive-way for multiple weeks and workers taking over your garage and home (to some extent).  The project took longer than anticipated (13 weeks), and toward the end, it was hard getting the workers to complete the final touches every day (due to other projects they were working on).  We did not pass the first electrical inspection, and the Dublin inspector came one day and the electricians (subcontractors) were not finished, so it took three tries to get the inspection passed.  There is a small level of arrogance or rudeness to the communications between us.  When I complained about something, I may not get a text response until 11:30 at night.  When the new door did not fit, I was asked to let them nail plywood over the door until the new door came in (to which I refused).  It took two weeks for the new door to come in so I am glad I refused.  One worker had to use the bathroom every day, and it was an intrusion until I complained, but Matt got him to stop.  While the actual construction is a pain, I would recommend this construction company to anyone, and I probably will use them to replace my deck.  Expect some annoyance and disruption, but over-all the end-product is well worth it.</p> <br />

River Mill had previously built our deck in 2005. The same footers were used, but  the floor was replaced with a Trex-like product. The construction is very solid and attractive. The crew worked hard and finished in good time, even with the rainy days. Communication was always prompt throughout the process. We know that Matt will always make things right if any problems arise. There have been rave reviews from a number of neighbors. <br />

Matt Pomeroy promptly responded to our first call and arrived the next day for measurements and conversation about what we wanted. He emailed back plans the next day. He mad many helpful suggestion as we went through about 3 iterations of the design finally deciding on just a deck. We had some special things we wanted like very shallow steps (almost a ramp) and Matt was able to do that for us. He also assisted us with getting a metal railing from Fortin Iron Works. He also took care of the proper building permits and inspections. <br /> Actual construction was completed by Sean and Adam and they were excellent also. I could tell from day 1 they were very professional. We would talk to them about small things we wanted done a certain way and they were always agreeable to work with. They are also, in my opinion, excellent carpenters who can do everything needed on a construction site. <br /> They also kept the work site very clean. At the end of each day they returned the old stairs to our back door so the dogs could go out and do their business without us having to take them on a leash. They worked during some of the coldest weather in November and kept the job going. <br /> We are planning another project for this year and will want to work with Matt, Sean and Adam again. <br /> <br />

Excellent quality and great experience working with Matt. The addition of the roof and the new deck is great! My dogs are aging and the ramp is very convenient. Through phone and emails was able to expedite the estimate and Matt had initial drawings in no time. Matt was very gracious to offer me to replace the entire deck at an extremely reasonable price along with the custom roof. At the end of each work day, the area was picked up and at the end - I didn't need to clean up even a loose piece of paper! The quality of work is excellent and Matt guarantees the results. The care, and quality of work done speaks volumes. would like to post pictures of before and after but don't see where I can do that. Highly recommend this company. <br />

River Mill met with us after setting the appointment when I called them on a week-end. We showed Matt the site in the rain and he didn't like how the structure would have to be attached to the house near windows. I offered another site on solid wall and Matt was very happy with my suggestion. He then drew up plans for what we wanted at our kitchen table at this first meeting. We loved the plans and hired River Mill that day. When our turn on RM's project list came up, it went very fast. The posts were set in concrete below the frost line and the entire structure was built in virtually 2 days with the third day finishing details. The work is high quality and we are very proud of our new outdoor space. We live out there now as much as we can. I would recommend this company to anyone who needed building or remodeling done. We plan to use them again. The hardest thing about them is waiting your turn on their scheduled project list. We waited about 5 weeks which is what we were told in the beginning. Everything went great and we are very impressed with River Mill. We also love the compliments on our new pergola from neighbors and passing golfers.

I picked this company over others because of the A+ rating. <br /> I came in with super high expectations and bad past experience with shady contractors. He assured me of his quality and dedication to building great structures. He answered all my questions and concerns in a very timely fashion. And the work was done carefully and not rushed. Matt was very responsive and on the ball with every aspect of this project. <br /> I wanted a nice big southern back porch, ceiling fan ( with pillars) and open stairs. That is what he gave me. <br /> My main concern was adding an architecture element to the back of my house and I wanted something that was an extension of the house, not just a deck. He provided a very and quot;Beefyand quot; porch. Very well built and sturdy. <br /> Even the building inspector said it was the nicest and well built structure he had seen in 30 years. I got exactly what I wanted and wouldn't change a thing! <br /> <strong>Do not hesitate to use this company! You get what you pay for. Build it right the first time.</strong>

We were limited on space so Matt designed a bump-out that perfectly accomodates our table and chairs. The structure is strong and we have had no problems. They were efficient and professional

The men who performed the work were very friendly and very professional. They cleaned up each night before they left. The actual work only took a couple of days and the workmen made an extra effort to make the job look professional. The only problem I had was with the estimating process. The owner was the person doing the estimate. He quoted me a price and I signed the contract and returned it to him with a check for half of the full amount. A couple of days before the work began he e-mailed me to tell me that his foreman said that the vinyl post covers wouldn't fit the existing 4x4 posts supporting the front porch and they would need to be replaced. The additional cost was $200.00 and there was a section in fine print of the contact that covered the additional cost for the replacement of the posts. In spite of this I would consider using them again.

These guys are real professionals. Matt did a good design and when they dug the holes and ran into problems with our property were quick to adjust with us. Everything they did was done with great care and professionalism, and they kept the site and structure clean throughout the month or two process. When they had to disturb existing landscaping, they carefully restored it as well as they could. Although we had to scale back on our original expectations because of geologic factors, they did a fabulous job of accomodating and gave us honest advice on the options we considered. In the course of doing their work, they corrected shoddy work done by a previous contractor on a set of French doors from the bedroom, and finished the job with attention to style and detail. I would highly recommend this company. They are true craftsmen and proud of their work.

We had an excellent experience with Mr. Pomeroy and his company. Mr. Pomeroy spent a good deal of time working with us to achieve our desired design within budget. Upon our first meeting, we took an instant liking to him and were very pleased with his approach and manner throughout the entire process. His active listening skills, personable communication manner, and sincere interest in seeing our vision to completion were impressive. He provided us detailed drawings of the project and all the information necessary to submit our plans for approval to our homeowners' association review board. He also took care of all the details in securing the required city permits. He is a gem among those persons working in his industry and we would refer him without hesitation. His team of craftsmen stayed on schedule and worked seamlessly with the other three contractors. Not a day goes by that we don't look out our back door and our hearts are filled with gratitude at the work of art produced by him and his team of professionals.

Matt is experienced and knows his business, this is a professional outfit. Job went very well, all the carpenters and other workers were experienced and knowledgeable. River Mills handled all the permitting and inspections. The crew needed some specialized equipment for this job and it was sourced immediately to keep the job on track. I especially appreciated the iterative design process where Matt was flexible in giving us options to make trade-offs in features and costs. The team showed great care on keeping the grounds cleaned up and leaving the area just like it was before they started.

My husband and I knew we wanted a deck and that we wanted something unique. Matt Pomeroy came to our home and designed a one-of-a-kind deck that truly reflects our style. Matt took care of everything for us from the permit to the approval by the County, to the approval by the Home Owner's Association. We didn't have to do a thing. He was honest and told us what he could and could not do. The finished product is an absolute masterpiece and Matt came in right at budget!

Our original porch was not well constructed and did not go with the style of the house. We had three other contractors out for estimates and all were very skeptical about being able to build something new because of the way any porch would have to attach to the house. Matt was recommended by another Angie's list contractor because he had a good design sense. Matt came out and within a very short time was able to come up with a way to build a new porch. He gave us an estimate for $6900. Unfortunately our financial situation changed and our only option was to completely rip down our porch and go with nothing. Matt was very gracious and instead of giving up he came up with a way for us to keep our porch(at least some of it) and made it look wonderful. The crew that came out to do the work were amazing (Tom And Doug). They were able to take Matt's idea and turn it into a reality, they had no idea what they would find when they cut into it. They were both courteous and professional.
