I had never used this company before.  My A/C went out over the weekend.  I called Monday (Sept 19) morning and was happy that they could get to my house that day.  The technician was pleasant, although he admitted it was his first day with this company.  He seemed to know what he was doing technically but had difficulties with the company's receipt/payment systems.  He told me that the fan motor in one of my a/c units needed to be replaced and also the capacitator but he believed both would be under warranty as my Carrier units were only 3 years old.  Since he seemed unsure of next steps I called the company.  The lady on the phone said that the parts would be covered by warranty but that I would need to pay for labor.  I approved going forward and the technician returned with the parts and had my unit operating that afternoon.  I had already paid $99.00 for initial service call before technician left to obtain needed parts.  He installed the fan motor and capacitor in no more than an hour.  When time came to settle the account he  had difficulty identifying the correct charge.  I was late for an appointment and told him I would call the office the next morning (as it was already nearly 5 pm) and settle the account, which I did.   When the lady who answered the phone told me that the charge was $535 I asked them to explain this to me since it should reflect labor charges only.  I was transferred to another lady who said the $535 was the correct charge for labor only.  Even counting the time the technician spent retrieving the correct parts, I could not understand how labor charges could be over $600 for the entire process (having already paid $99.00).  She "explained" that this company did not charge for labor by the hour like every other service company that I have ever dealt with in 40 years of home ownership.  They had an arbitrary price list for labor for each "service."  I was shocked, told her so, but proceeded to settle the account since I had approved the process although I had failed to question the labor costs.  I said that I would place a review on my experience on social media.  While I now know I should have asked for an estimate of labor charges, I believe this company was deceitful in not telling me upfront what the "labor" cost would be since it was a fixed, arbitrary price that they already knew.  I could not recommend this company to anyone. <br />

I found R&M to be extremely expensive!!!!!! <br />  I have no complaints about the work.  However the price is extremely high.  The total charge was $401 ( $99 for a service charge + $302 for capacitor installation.) I had a $25 off coupon.   Normal "all in" pricing for this work is $200 - $300.   <br /> The part costs $61 (Amazon) and the total labor is 1/2 hour (Bulk parts warehouse prices are less).  I have changed capacitors and contactors before but this is a second home and I was not there when this was done.  I could see a $302 total charge minus the coupon, which would include the part plus over $200 labor.   <br /> I will not use R&M again.  I had them scheduled to service another house I owned (routine maintenance), but I canceled because of this experience.  I am now using All Hours Heating and Air whose "all in" charge for replacing a run capacitor is $200.  All Hours also has an excellent angies list rating

They wired the motor wrong and nearly burned my house down (photos available). The installation technician blamed it on the first technician diagnosed the problem wrong and the card should have been replaced. I asked him was I responsible for the motor cost and he said no because it wasn't our fault.  They then told me I needed a new unit. Quote was $8500.00. I considered this high and sought other quotes. Since I did not go with their bit they want to charge me for the motor. When I did have my unit replaced I asked the installation technician from the new company to check the motor installation. He told me the wiring was wrong and white wire was taken to ground which was why the motor was Burned up.. <br /> I complained via phone on three separate occasions begging for their manager to call me. he finally called me and agreed the bill would deleted. I continued to get bills however and now they threaten a collection agency. I will send payment on Monday 9/22/14. I am in poor health and this has severely anguished me. It is a shame that companies like this exist. <br />

I had a lot of problems dealing with the original equipment that was installed during construction, which they didn't install.  It was installed by another person.  They had done everything that they could over the years.  They're always prompt.  When the first unit I have died, I purchased one unit from them, and I will purchase a second unit because my house has two units.  Actually, I have a service plan with them.

<p>I called late Saturday night, 7/20/2013 and scheduled service for Sunday morning.  The Tech showed up about 7:30 and diagnosed the problem as a burned out fan motor.  He did not have a replacement part available.  The same issue we had when the exact same part went out 7 months earlier in December 2012.  We were told someone would be out first thing Monday with the part to fix the problem.  When I called at 8:30 I was told we were scheduled for between 2 and 3PM.  It looks like they send someone out to show the flag during off hours and then put service contract customers at the end of the line in favor of customers who will be writing a check.</p> <p>We have had multiple issues with this unit since we purchased it in Dec 2004.  This is the third fan motor and we also had to replace the compressor.  The fan was replaced in Dec, we had regular service in May that didn't identify the problem and now it is burned out again in July.</p> <br /> <br /> <br />

It went badly.  I've used these people for years and they've usually been very good.  Something has changed.  I scheduled service on my heat pump at my rental condominium for a Friday morning.  This is the only day I'm off work and I had to drive over to the empty condo and wait.  I was supposed to be visited between 8:00 and 10:00.  About 10:00 I had not heard from anyone so I called.  The dispatcher said the crew had gotten assigned to "do inventory" and could they re-schedule.  I did re-schedule for the next Friday.  The guy showed up on time and did a good job.  He was very professional.  He pointed out to me that my 20+ year old system had mold growing in it.  I asked him to have an equipment guy call about scheduling a complete replacement of the unit.  The guy called me and talked with me about what I needed and promised to get back to me within a couple of days with a proposal.  That was the last I heard from him.  Several weeks later I had another contractor install my new system. <br />

This experience started out great, with a very prompt call back from the representative when I first contacted the company regarding my concerns. I had contacted them regarding a moldy smell coming from my air vents every time my air conditioning came on. We discussed having the system tuned up, the coils cleaned and having a UV light installed to help with the problem since I had already had my ductwork cleaned and sanitized by another company. I was given a prompt appointment for this work to be done. The technician arrived on time and was polite. I don't have any issues with how nice the people were. I was a little concerned about how well he cleaned the coils, though. This consisted of only a minute (if that long) rinse with my garden hose. There was no use of any cleaning product whatsoever even though my primary reason for having this visit was concerns about possible mold in the unit and/or coils. I even commented on that when he was here but he just said that the hose works better?! Usually I've seen them cleaned with both product and THEN rinsed with a hose. In any case, I've never seen them cleaned that quickly before. I saw him installing the UV light, but I never really saw it turned on (not sure if I would see it on?). But my real concern now is whether or not the thing is installed correctly or if it is working at all because there is absolutely no improvement whatsoever in the moldy smell coming through the air conditioning. I gave it well over a week to make sure just in case those things need some time for their effects to show, but there is no improvement at all. I tried to contact this company three days ago with questions about this service. They haven't bothered to respond. I received no documentaion on the UV light for how I can check the status of it, etc. I can't simply refer to information they provided with the unit since there isn't any. Mold is no joke when you have asthma and allergies. I gave $390 of my disability to this company to get this fixed so I can breathe, but now have to start all over with another company. I cannot express how disappointed I am in these folks given how polite they were in the beginning. I don't understand what happened.
