It was difficult to have him do the work in a timely way as he was busy with another big job and with the weather being unseasonably wet this summer it was difficult to get the work done.

He and his wife worked hard to accomplish all the handyman jobs I've been wanting to get done and I appreciated their work.

He came by first thing in the morning to see if he could find what was leaking to determine how to fix it. Once it was discovered one of the connectors was broken, he went in search of a replacement part. He had squeezed in my repair inbetween jobs so he returned in the afternoon with the part. Once he had the correct part the job was done within 10 minutes.
Advised us to wait until spring to do either repairs or replacement because ground was so frozen it would cost much more to do it immediately. Provided an estimate for replacing the entire fence if we decided to go that way. Took a while to get the estimate, but we weren't in a great hurry since we didn't plan to do any work until April or May. Provider promised to come back and do two hours of handyman work later, if we decided not to replace the fence.
Work was very satisfactory and done in a timely manner. Initial contact was shaky, but probable fault on both sides. Showed up promptly as scheduled. Pleasant to work with.

The service was for two hours of handyman work. Ron estimated one hour for the fan, and 30 minutes for each of the other jobs. I provided all the replacement parts and accessories. After three hours, Ron advised he couldn't finish the fan because there were two wires from the ceiling and three wires from the new fan and a converter box in the ceiling to accept the three wire situation and the box wasn't working. He said there was no power to the box and no power to the switch on the wall and I needed to hire an electrician to put the fan in. Even though he was over the allotted two hours, he said he wanted to put in the new drain. After and hour and a half I checked in with him and he stated the drain was too long for the connection to the u-pipe and I needed to hire a plumber to run new piping from the wall to the u-pipe. He had set the new drain in the sink and couldn't remove it. Basically, the $79 he charged was "down the drain" and I needed to spend another $500 or so to hire experts to fix/complete his work. Turns out the box in the fan was a remote control sensor and the fan took less than 20 minutes to fix; there was power to the switches on the wall. The drain is still incomplete as I haven't found someone with experience to fix the mess or afford them and I don't trust Ron's recommendation to hire a plumber. Obviously his expertise did not include basic electrical and plumbing work - he should have stated he didn't think he could handle these jobs before getting involved in them and leaving two jobs incomplete.

I had a problem with my sprinkler system that only required a minor adjustment. It was so simple (I just bought the house and knew NOTHING about the system) that he didn't charge me for his initial visit at all. He was very helpful and professional.
Ronald D McElfresh dba RD's Services was a little expensive for me because I am retired, so I can't pay as much as other people, my sprinkling system had to be repaired and he repaired it very well in the back and he even dug up a sprinkler head to do it. What happened to me is that I had 2 bare patches in my front parking, they were quite large and I lost my grass here in the drought last year and I need to replant there, but he told me that I have too many sprinkler heads in my front yard and I told him that was because I had too many people work on it and they tried to solve the problem by too many heads in. I asked him if he tried to block some of them off because the other sprinklers had to try and take over and I was at the point of paying him the second time he came. He didn't try to take the sprinkler heads down to a lesser amount and so, that very place where the two bare spots are is the very place where there is no water heating, so I am going to have that repaired again and it was over USD 500 that I had paid him. I will have to have somebody come and remove the extra sprinklers, so he was right out the fact that I had too many sprinklers and I agreed with him, but he didn't try to change that and he didn't ask me if I wanted him to. I am disabled, so I couldn't run downstairs to check, but I did ask him if the two sprinklers in the front parking were reaching each other, so that I can get those bare spots covered and he said that they were, but as time went on in the last few weeks, there is just not enough pressure to cover those two spots, and so something else needed to be done. That is the only thing that didn't go right. The thing was that he charged me quite a bit for what he did and I asked him if he tried to block the others off and he didn't answer me, I never made a statement to him about the fact that I couldn't go over a certain amount and so he wasn't restricted in having time to do it because I paid him by the hour. It did turn out to be USD 30 an hour, and that was one of the things that has been bugging me for a year and so it must have been one of the first things that I mentioned when he came, it was very obvious because we have 2 big bare patches on the ground. We have to hand water it and we have to reseed it but the sprinklers aren't reaching well. He was very nice and we got along well but it was just that it wasn't going to do any good to work on everything else on the front yard, if it wasn't going to cover that spot. I asked him what else he did and he said he puts rock in yards and I told him that I don't like rock. Some people may have had 100% satisfaction with him but for me, I can't do the watering myself, so I can't do the hand watering and so I had to have that fixed so that if I turned the sprinkler on, it would cover it. I think the price was high for the thing that I needed done and I think he overcharged me. He fixed some other things for me okay but he didn't do anything about the front lawn. He did a good job on whatever sprinklers he replaced, it is just that he didn't want to get rid of some sprinkler heads to help with the pressure. He responded well, but he didn't come through on the job. He was pretty punctual on everything and he had another job but he found a way to get here although he skipped a couple days. I won't use him again because my money is limited and I paid him right away, it took me so long to get the money together to get the job done. For that price, he should have tried to get some of my sprinkler heads off. He blamed it on the pipes that came onto the front yard, I can't blame that because all the rest of the sprinklers are covering the other parts.

Ron arrived and went directly to the open manifold and we discussed the problem. He retrieved his tools, climbed into the hole and did not emerge until he found a crimped O-ring that had been installed by my previous repairman. He did not associate blame, but rather explained that cross theading a pressure regulator with a used O-ring could ultimately catch the O-ring and cause a crimp and therefore a leak. He produced a new O-ring and within literally minutes he had corrected a chronic leak that several others before him had been unable to diagnose properly. When he asked if there was anything else he could do, I began my list. We ended up replacing a pressure regulator, a filter, two valves and rewiring four valves so they worked properly. There was no lost motion.
I called Ron and asked if he was interested in doing the spring set up on my roof swamp cooler and asked for the pads to be replaced. Ron returned all my calls and set up a date on the next Saturday (2 days from initial call). He came on Saturday just to measure the pads so he could get some for me. It was so windy Saturday, I was surprised he still showed and went on the roof anyway and uncovered the cooler and got the measurements and told me he would see me Monday to finish the job. Ron showed up Monday and finished all the work on the swamp cooler, all done in a very professional manner. After finishing I told Ron I think I just found me a new man for servicing my cooler twice and year and also any repairs if he wanted the job. He said he did, so I have a new service man for my cooler that I can trust. I highly recommend Ron for your handyman needs, he is the oldschool type of guy that believes in giving you the proper work for your dollar

He did a good job. It took him not very long. He told us what we needed to get and how much materials. I basically used his knowledge as much as anything else.
