This is an update to an older review of Roifing USA. Since the installation of my TPO roof in 2013, I have had nothing but problems with leaks -- 90% of them in the same spot. It's no exaggeration to say that they've been to my house at least 40 times over the last 5 years to try to fix the leaks. Another one appeared 3 weeks ago, and my attempts to contact the business have been futile. I then noticed the Angie's List posting from another gentleman on 5/1/19 with a similar problem, who stated he had discovered the company has suddenly shut down. That leaves all of us with new/newer roofs SOL on the remaining time of our warranties (an estimate from another roofing company to address my latest leaks is over $500). This is a breach of contract, and I will be filing a complaint with the State Attorney General's office. I encourage you to do the same if you find yourself in the same boat.

Initially, fine. The replacement roof seemed fine, and it even survived a big hailstorm that hit Albuquerque about a year after installation with no significant damage. However, a couple of weeks ago when I went up on the roof to get our evaporative cooler set up for the season, I found that a couple of long strips of shingle that had been covering the ridge-line vent along the roof's east-west ridge had blown off or slid off. (There had been some 25-30 mph winds about two weeks before my discovery.) Since the job came with a 10-year warranty on Roofing USA's labor and a lifetime warranty on the shingles, I emailed Roofing USA and also called them -- several times over a five-day period. No one at Roofing USA's number every "picked up"; I was shunted to voice mail each time. No one ever returned my calls. So, this morning I drove to Roofing USA's office around 9:30 AM (stated office hours 7-4), to find the driveway to their building closed off by a locked gate, and their sign on the fence accompanied by a commercial realtor's sign. (That realtor confirmed that it was Roofing USA who was selling the property but could not give me the owner's contact information.) I also talked to a staff member at the business across the street from Roofing USA, who informed me that Roofing USA had been closed and locked up for about a month, and that the owner had said he would not be continuing in/returning to the roofing business. Apparently the owner has simply walked away from the business without contacting his customers or making any arrangements to have warranty services provided by a roofing firm that is still in business.

Roofing USA were very professional throughout. They were punctual, although the work got done a few weeks later than planned but such delays happen in this industry. They seem to have done a good job with the Gaco coating, although I did have to ask them to come back after they were done to redo a few patches that didn't get a thick enough layer. They were happy to do that. They only had to resurface part of my roof - the rest is a walkable roof deck - and they did leave many spots of Gaco on the roof deck which I had to ask them to come back and remove. I though the price was expensive but it was easily going to work out cheaper than the other two companies I contacted. They also had the least disruptive plan for working around my AC/heating unit. I got a higher bid from A+ Sustainable Coatings, and Hollywood Roofing told me I would have to hire a crane to lift that unit off the roof while they worked, which they said would be about $2500. I never did get a complete bid from them but with that extra cost I assumed it wouldn't be competitive, and I didn't think the crane was necessary. With Roofing USA, the price worked out at about $7 per square foot.

Overall the work was very good. One issue with a leak at a canale was addressed following the first rain event. Ben (the owner) came out frequently to review the work his staff was doing, and came out right away when the canale leak was discovered. He was determined to ensure homeowner satisfaction of the work performed. His workers were very friendly and were very good at answering the homeowner's concerns. The rarity of rain events following the roof replacement made it difficult to quickly assess the quality of their work. Recent storms helped with that.

It went well. Workers showed up on time, stuck with the job until it was finished. Owner suggested we replace skylights with low-E argon-filled double glass product. We did so and very happy with results. Everything about the job seemed very professional in plan and execution of plan. Good roofing work is not cheap.

It went great. The roof is immaculate, Amazing work. Although, I wasn't out to get jealous looks from the neighborhood I got it anyway. The people were nice to my family, including my uncle who loved watching them do their work. Courteous all the way, and an outstanding roof. They did everything right and I couldn't be happier.

They did well. Very honest, Lynette and Ben the owner are very knowledgeable on what they are doing, the workers are very professional and respect the property of the owner. They were with me from the time of the estimate until the job was finished. They returned calls every time. They work with me even I am outside the state and they adjusted to my schedule UPDATE: I began having problems with multiple leaks in my roof in November 2018. They came out twice and have already patched six different spots stating they knew nothing about my request to have the roof scanned for leaks. I am very disappointed and upset that they are now being completely unresponsive. I have contacted Angie's List for assistance with having the company come back out and fix the leaks properly according to my five year warranty.
Response from Roofing USA
"We went out to fix a roof leak but it was a stucco problem. We temporarily sealed the stucco and should have charged them for a unwarrantable service call but we did not. We then went back out so they can be showed where the stucco problem was and Fernando did not have the meter with him. He then asked the member what time he could come out the next day (Sunday) with the meter and that was early in the morning because the member had to leave for El Paso. There are no leaks on this roof. I have not heard from them about another leak since we went out the first time. How are we suppose to use a moisture meter if there is no leak?"

Their price was a little bit higher than another one we had looked at, but we thought it would be okay. The quality is good as far as we know, the roof isn't leaking.

Overall, the re-roofing job done by Roofing USA was a good job; several aspects were done especially well, to my eye. There were also a few things that were not done so well. For background, this was a roof replacement job done on a pitched roof due to hail damage. I should note that the new roof passed the city inspector’s permit inspection with no corrections required. The estimate given us was fair and competitive with the other two estimates received. It was not the lowest, but we selected Roofing USA based on both price and other considerations. One of those was an ad in the Angie’s List magazine that offered a discount of up to $500 for roof replacements. More about that later. One thing I particularly asked each company’s estimator was whether there would be at least one person on the work crew who was fully conversant in English, recognizing that I am not very fluent in any other language and recalling a less-than-effective communication situation I had had with a contractor crew on a previous job. I was assured that there would be. Well, that was not the case. As well as I could determine none of the crew except the crew chief were at all conversant in English, and the crew chief’s English was quite limited. I don’t fault the crew; I wish the assurance I was given had been fulfilled by the company management when the crew was assigned. There were a few cases of somewhat sloppy work. In one case, a few avoidable smudges of black plastic adhesive/sealant appeared on the yellowish stucco of the house walls. The existing flashing on the lower sides of the cooler ducting and the chimney ended up quite bent and sloppily sealed where the shingles were slid under the flashing. And in the most striking case, the person who installed the skylights did not refer to or follow the installation instructions that came with the new units and did not install all of the provided attachment screws, apparently out of frustration with the way his drill-driver tool stripped out the screw heads. There were several positive aspects of the job, though. For example, the crew showed up at the promised time each day and worked past “quitting time” when necessary. Also, the closed-cut valleys were cut dead straight (even without snapping a chalk-line, I believe). The modified-bitumen covering for the low-slope patio roof was installed well and accurately. There were always a sufficient number of nails used on each shingle. On billing, the estimate was exactly adhered to - no mysterious add-ons. And I was especially pleased that the crew supervisor accommodated my concerns in the following situation. On the second planned day of the work, it had rained overnight and was raining lightly in the morning when the crew arrived, intending to continue the job. I expressed concern to the crew supervisor about installing shingles over the wet underlayment. After evaluating the condition of the roof, he concurred, and it was agreed that the crew would continue the next day, after the roof had dried. Going back to the advertised discount – when I went to the contractor’s office to settle the bill, I was told that they were no longer honoring that discount, since Angie’s List had been told to pull the ad a number of months ago but had not. Whatever the facts of the situation, I was generally dissatisfied by this turn of events. The contractor would not adhere to what the ad said, and a phone complaint to Angie’s List elicited a refusal from them to pay the discount amount. Angie’s List and the contractor need to resolve this situation or risk many more dissatisfied customers for both of them.

It went very smoothly, from the estimate to the actual work being completed. They were the only company who didn't try to get me to fix things that didn't need to be fixed right away. They are honest and hardworking and they will be my roofing company for as long as I'm in Albuquerque.

Roofing USA met or exceeded our expectations on knowledge, service, product, and price for our new TPO roof. The crew was respectful, professional, put tarps down on our yard, and picked up every scrap of material before the job was done. I'd highly recommend them to anyone needing a quality new flat roof.

Pros: Roofing USA provided a complete detailed and responsive proposal. Other roofers did not provide much detail at all. The work crew was polite and careful to clean up afterwards. They encountered some problems that were not covered in the proposal but covered them at no additional cost, which was refreshing. Cons: The work crew for our job was small so the process took longer than expected.

Terrific! From getting a bid to delivery of the left over shingles, Ben and Lynette were responsible, professional, and patient with me. I took a lot of time, almost three months getting other estimates-6 of them-, since many other roofers were unable to even bid the job for up to a month. Never did I feel hounded or forgotten by them. They arrived promptly at every scheduled meeting, and kept me abreast of any schedule changes. I learned so much in our meetings from their descriptions of the work, and their bid was by far the BEST I received in Santa Fe. I was initially concerned about having them come up from Alb., but honestly this was the best decision I made last year. They picked up after each days work, and I was pleased that there wasn't any damage to my landscaping at all! The crew was hardworking, polite, and took pride in their work. The only unexpected thing was that the material they used for the underlayment was different than what was listed in the contract, which worried me. I researched it online, and talked to them about it and they assured me that RhinoRoof U20 was equal if not superior to the Owens Corning that was written in the contract. They were also very gracious and understanding for that feedback and understood that since I'm not a roofIng professional that I would be concerned. So much of the time you feel bad just questioning something, and then the "experts" make you feel bad for asking! They allowed me to choose a designer non stock shingle color too, that took extra time coming from Denver. It is a BEAUTIFUL roof and I will promise to give feedback if my roof needs any service in the next 10 or so years. The shingles have a 25 year warranty, so hopefully all is well for many years to come! I can't say how much I appreciate this company and how wonderful the new roof is!

It went very smoothly. They were able to come out within a couple of days to inspect and give an estimate. He explained the whole process and gave me quotes for the repair and also for a full replacement as well. They repaired and cleaned so well I didn't even know they'd been there except for the fact that my roof wasn't leaking anymore. Have already referred them to a friend

You can not beat this roofing company. They make everything right. That was the experience we had when they where putting the new roof on and they have continued to do that ever since. They are quick to follow up on anything that the roof needs related to the work they did for 7 years, totally free! The roof material that we had put on is also guaranteed for 15 years. Great staff and owner.

The crew was great! They did a thorough job, removing the old underlayment and cleaning the decking, then replacing it with a self-sticking modern underlayment and new wood battens before fitting and reinstalling the tile, replacing as needed. The joints and pipes were sealed and the seal painted to match the tile. The roof looks great.

They removed the old asphalt shingles and installed a new Evergreen clor metal roof. The house is approximately 2600 square feet. So this was a fairly big job. Dale the salesman was excellent. He kept us updated through the whole job. The job began on April 7th and naturally since there was no rain for most of the winter, there were several days of rain during the job. Felix the foreman and his crew worked until 8 pm on the last day which was Thursday April 14th. I went up on the roof for the final inspection with Dale and the workmanship was very good. All the seams were caulked and painted the same color as the roof. We have two skylights and the trim around them looked good. They even painted the two wind turbines the same color as the roof. The job is very professional. I am very happy with the work that Roofing USA did.
