"(Member name removed), Thank you for the very nice review! Our service plumbers are highly trained on how to do the job right and how to respect our customers property. Our plumbers actually get rewarded for safety, which not only means they want to work so they don't get hurt, but includes protecting customers homes and businesses from damage while we work, so we do our messy work very carefully! If there is anything we can do for you in the future, please let me know. Mark Ames Manager Roto Rooter Plumbers"
"Hello (Member name removed), It appears that you are in the service area for the North San Diego County Roto Rooter location. I realize that it has been some time since the work was done, but I have forwarded on your concerns over the service provided to you to the manager of that location. Our service area begins above Carmel Valley / Poway border. The branch that services your neighborhood covers everything north of Carmel Valley / Poway and west of the 15. Although I can't speak for them, I can say that larger service and repair companies; whether they are providing plumbing, air conditioning services, landscaping, maid services and many other types of companies are hesitant to quote prices over the phone. Since you are probably not going to be talking to the person performing the service (hopefully they are out turning the tools), Customer Service Reps who take the calls are not plumbers and really can't be trained to ask all the questions that would need to be asked to give an accurate quote over the phone; there are just way too many variables, and many customers have a difficult time understanding plumbing well enough to explain just how bad the problem is or how easy it might be to fix. Companies who quote prices over the phone get complaints that the price that was quoted changed after the plumber found out it was not a simple problem, or that the conditions or the piping is too poor to work on for the quoted price. Some customers call as soon as they have a minor problem, others wait until everything has fallen apart. It's hard figure that out over the phone. We provide no obligation, free estimates to come out to your property and figure out what its going to take to fix, and give you an upfront, flat rate price and a solid guarantee. We stand behind our work and hire, train the best personnel and follow all plumbing codes, safety codes and labor and insurance requirements. Unless we are compared with small shops with low overhead and limited resources, we are very competitive with companies our size, and are there when you need us, 7/24, usually within an hour, any day of the week. We provide flat rate pricing, just as most other service providers, like most phone services, most tire shops, the auto dealers, and even dentists and doctors. Almost everyone has adopted flat rate pricing. When service providers charge by the hour, customers won't really know what the final bill will be until the work is done, and worst of all, slow, poorly trained or under experienced service providers will presumably charge more than someone who is highly skilled and trained, so people can easily end up paying more for poorer service. In your review you mentioned the price had changed. Again, I can't speak for that location, but is it possible that the plumber recommended additional products and/or a service that you thought was included in the drain cleaning price? If so, the plumber did not do a very good job in communicating that to you, and when that happens, its best to communicate with the management of the company. They may not know that their service men are not not being 100% clear every time, and cannot improve their business if they don't know what is happening on service calls that are not performed to company standards. The price quoted should always be the price charged. Unless you have a hidden problem or plumbing not installed to code, there shouldn't be any exceptions. Our location performs over 6,000 service calls a year, and 95.9% of them say they are 'very satisfied' (we call every customer and track their responses). I'm sorry Roto Rooter did not meet and exceed your expectations. In the future if you need a quote for service before any service person shows up, ask to speak to a supervisor or manager who can ask the right questions and give you a price over the phone. If there is anything I can do to assist you further, feel free to call me at 619-596-0501. Best regards, Mark Ames Manger"
"(Member name removed), Thank you for your review. Although we had successfully cleaned the main sewer line many times in the past, We did not perform to your, or our satisfaction, so we did provide a full refund. I hope that we can do better next time and exceed your expectations. Best regards, Mark Ames Manager Roto Rooter Plumbers"
"Hello (member name removed) , I am just now looking at our Angie's List reviews for the first time in many, many years and found your review. I intended to extend my apologies for any problems you may have had with our company, but unfortunately we have no record of doing any work at the address listed or with Rose Crafton. We began a comprehensive, complete and unified computer record keeping for our dispatching and invoicing systems in 1999, and have scanned all invoices since 2004, and in numerous, cross checked searches, I can't find anything that connects our company to you. We have a handful of competitors that have capitalized on our established name and that do their best to confuse the public. Roto Rooter has been in business in San Diego since 1946, and has been in continuous business as a company since 1935 (almost 80 years!). I would have been happy to help you if we had created a problem for you back in 2007, and I am sorry you received less than professional service from someone in the trade who has left a poor impression of what a plumbing service company should be doing, and to make it worse, left you with the impression that it was our company. I hope that you will call us in the future and give us a chance to show you how service and repair plumbing is supposed do be done, and assure you that we were not the ones who caused problems for you, instead of fixing them. Best Regards, Mark Ames Manager Roto Rooter Plumbers"

"(member name removed), Thank you for the kind review! We try to do our very best every day, and it's nice when our customers recognize all the training and equipment we give every one of our plumbers and put on every job. We know we like options when we need servcies, and we want to make sure our customers get them, too. If there is anything we can do for you meeting you plumbing and drain cleaning needs, please let me know. Best Regards, Mark Ames Manager Roto Rooter Plumbers"
"Hello (Member name removed), Although your review was posted with our Angie's List reviews for the San Diego location (I know, it would appear that we are all the same company, but we are not), I will send your concerns to the owner of the Roto Rooter location that covers Poway. I know that it has been a while since you posted your review, but I am new to looking at this kind of stuff; we are so busy! I wish that you would have received a more positive experience, and I am sorry that you were left with a poor impression of the Roto Rooter brand. It is possible that the owner of the Roto Rooter in that area was not aware of how your issue was handled by his service plumber. Best Regards, Mark Ames Manager Roto Rooter Plumbers"
