Very happy with the job and the process. Dan Ryan spent a good deal of time planning how to deal with some odd features with our roof and was more thorough than the other companies in the planning stage. He worked quickly with the insurance adjuster three times. His crew was punctual and professional and kept the site clean. No surprises except some bad decking which Dan worked with the adjuster to cover. The whole job was completed in 12 hours. I would use them again.

Dan Ryan and his crew did an excellent job. Dan Ryan (owner of the company) came out to look at the house with me and show me samples of shingles. To help me pick out the right color, Dan Ryan personally drove me around the neighborhood so that I could see how different colors of roofing materials look on different houses.
The roofing crew arrived on time, early in the morning, and they completed the work in 1 day. My house is from the 1800s and has a lot of weird angles and seams, and they took care of everything just fine.
Dan Ryan recommended a solar-powered roof ventilation system that his crew installed at the same time as the roof. With the receipt, I am expecting to receive a tax rebate to cover the cost for that. My house has vinyl siding, and parts of the siding above various roof levels needed replacing. Dan Ryan recommended a vinyl siding repair person who was very detail oriented and took care of that quickly and for a very good price.
The crew cleaned up fairly well after the roof replacement. There was a huge pile of roofing material removed, and they took it all away on the same day. There were still quite a bit of small asphalt-type granules on the lawn and patio around the house after the crew left. When I mentioned this to the owner of the company, he came out and personally vacuumed that area with a dust-vac.
In my experience, Ryan Construction System (RCS) went above and beyond with their customer service and quality of work.
This project took nearly two weeks. It was the middle of December and cold. It took longer than I was expecting because of the
cold weather, but the crew did work steady. Afterward I had the same shingles put on my little barn/shed, and was told in advance that it would cost me $300.00. In the end, they charged me $500.00.
Every time this company went to dump old shingles/materials, they charged me $100.00. I was never told of this ahead of time.
They were very expensive and I've learned a good lesson, get every little detail in writing ahead of time.
Company changed names (now I know why) and was Ryan Roofing in Feb 2009. Bid for roof was a lot higher than other bids ($1500 to $3000) but through sales process I thought I was getting the best roof. Final roof cost was $8100. In September 2013 our home inspection turned up a areas with roof/guttering. Their repair estimate was $900 and a competitor bidded at $350. Other reputable people said that $900 was extremely high for the repairs that were needed. The worst part was Ryan's email communication back on one of the repairs "Carl told me he was surprised that the area in discussion by dead man's area/ soffit roof area has not leaked. It is an architectural flaw that should be addressed." When we asked why this was not covered under warranty they said they just do everything the way it was before. So when they repair a bad roof with their more expensive roofing system just know that this company will not do anything but the bare minimum. Even an obvious flaw with the roof (and one that only requires a little sheet metal to divert water) will not be pointed out by them. Bad customer service, bad craftsmanship, and high prices do not make for a successful company. That is a good reason to change your name!
Showed up to replace existing roof and gutters with no prior notice or appointment. While they did do a nice job on the roof, they backed their truck into the house causing considerable damage.
The were able to come to our home in a day or so.

The initial repair didn't work, but they returned when call and fixed the problem.

I will say fixing a roof on a sunny day is tricky, so coming back after the next rain cured the problem.
The whole process was quite efficient. Ryan Roofing was great in working with us and our insurance company to get an estimate and made sure the project stayed within our budget. They showed up on time, did a great job and maintained a very clean work site. We were very happy with the whole process and love the new roof. I would definitely recommend them to others.
First of all, I would like to start this by stating that I never fill out on line reviews, but this company has inspired me.Process went OK until the roof was done and it was time for the gutters to be scheduled. The salesman had quoted me a price for the roof and a price for the gutters. I accepted his proposal and the roof work was done in an acceptable manner. I was told by the salesman that someone from Ryan would be contacting me to schedule the gutters. Over a week went by and since I had not received a call, I called the salesman, I got his voice-mail and left a message. This continued for another week and a half and 3 more messages. I then called the office, who informed me that they would get a hold of the salesman and he would get back to me within the hour. Of course he never did. I waited another week and left another message, I also called the office again. This time I was connected with someone who identified himself as the owner. Right of the bat he spoke to me in what I felt was a condescending tone. He made feeble attempts to act like he knew me (asked about my wife who he had never met). When I told him that the salesman was not returning my calls, he responded by telling me that he would get me on the schedule for the gutters, however he would need me to fax him my insurance paperwork. I asked him why he needed my insurance paperwork, and he told me that they "just needed it for my file" I told him that they didn't need it for the file, they had quoted me the job, and they should come out and do the job for the price they quoted. I had already paid in full for the roof work. He proceeded to become even more rude than he already was, and could not give me a real reason why they wanted my paperwork. The salesman had never asked to see the insurance paper work, nor would I have shown it to him if he had asked. The owner stated that he was angry that the salesman had bid my job without seeing the paperwork, however I told him that was between him and the salesman. He then told me that he had been "riding" the salesman about the paperwork, and that was probably why he was not returning my phone calls. How ridiculous that the owner of the company would admit that his employee was ducking a customers phone calls. If that was true he should have fired him on the spot. This went on for several more minutes, and I was almost late for work, I finally gave in and told him I would fax the paperwork, and he agreed to put me on the schedule. I immediately regretted giving in to this guy. Nevertheless, true to my word, I faxed the paperwork, and called the next day to find out when my gutters were scheduled. I was informed by the office staff that I had not faxed all of the paperwork they wanted. Come to find out they wanted my insurance claim number and the fax number. I asked why they wanted to contact my insurance, and was not given a straight answer. I told them fine, have the owner give me a call and explain it. Guess what? I never received a call, nor any response to my repeated attempts to contact them. I will now have another company do my gutters and Ryan construction systems will be collecting a lot of negative reviews and word of mouth.

I had already told them I didn't want them to start until I had the check from the insurance company in hand an that I wanted to reschedule. They showed up the next day with a crew that would not speak English. My husband tried to stop them. He called Ryan Roofing. They said they wouldn't worry about that and wanted to get started. After the work was completed and they had not received the check from the insurance company yet, they called me every day at my job to see if I had heard from the insurance company. They bugged me until we got the check on work that I did not want them to start until the check was in my hand.

This company previously replaced missing shingles on my roof about two years ago, very quickly and on the same day I called them, for $300, which was under the insurance estimate. I called them again after difficulty getting response from another company that was replacing several roofs in my neighborhood for hail damage. The owner himself came to my house on the same day I called and found my roof sound, but noted an area where the construction was done poorly and caused a leak. This had previously been addressed by a handyman but was still a problem. Workers came the following week to inspect the area. I had to make a follow-up phone call two weeks later to get the actual bid, but the work was completed the following day.

He was supposed to put the roof on both our upper and lower sections of our house. He only did the upper section. We only found out what he did because we needed repairs done after he was finished. I felt that he took advantage of us as he never thought that we would have gone up on the roof and discovered what he had done. As far as I could tell, he did an okay job with what he did perform. He was just very dishonest.

They started a few days late due to weather, and I had to call to see why they weren't at job site on initially promised day. Finished entire roof in one day. Returned another day to do the soffit vents. No one is sure if they blocked off the gable vents as discussed. Was not told about additional cost for special manufacturer's warranty and Angie's List coupon not honored at face value ($100 discount on a $300 coupon and applied the other $200 to the warranty) when my husband inspected the work and paid the company representative. BUT, I was able to easily reach both the rep and the office manager to voice my complaints. Within a day the owner, Dan Ryan, called and left his cell number on my voice mail. Mr. Ryan honored the coupon at face value ($300) and included the $200 warranty at no extra charge since we were never told we had to pay for it. Mr. Ryan did everything correctly to make the customer happy when there was a miscommunication on his company's part. I was very happy with the outcome and so far the roof looks and performs well. Even though this estimate was the highest of the four I got, they did the most work and spoke the most intelligently about the house's ventilation needs. Despite the miscommunication on the coupon and warranty, I am pleased overall with the experience because they took ownership of the problem and fixed it quickly. I had the refund check within 48 hours. I am glad I took a coworker's recommendation to use this company. I will consider using them in the future as well.

We thought that we would have a fairly long wait for work to begin because of the shipping time for the shingles. We were very happy when Ryan Roofing called not too long after we signed the contract and told us that work could begin. There was an "opening" and our job could fill it. The crew arrived and work proceeded smoothly and professionally. However, we were told that the job could not be completed because the estimate for shingles was short. Not just a few shingles short, but 20 square feet of shingles short--a significant portion of the roof. Ryan Roofing's crew covered the unshingled section of the roof with bright blue plastic and assured us that the roof wouldn't leak. But while we waited for the additional shingles to arrive--approx. 2 1/2 weeks--we experienced some heavy rainstorms. Needless to say we were nervous and spent many an anxious hour checking for leaks during that period. There was also the unsightly appearance of the blue plastic. When the shingles arrived, Ryan's crew came and finished the roof. Ryan explained the extra costs politely and suggested that we compromise on an additional "upcharge" for the second shingle order. The compromise was "meeting him halfway" which cost us an extra $320. A case can be made that Ryan should have honored the original contract and not suggested extra payment. This was neither a smooth operation nor one without anxiety and inconvenience on our part. I want to emphasize that the work was excellent and that we are very happy with it.
Response from Ryan Construction Systems
"We do apologize that our estimator made a mathematical error and in turn caused the home owner a lot of anxiety and a little extra money. Our crew made sure that the tarp was 100% water tight to ensure that it would not leak since they knew the shingles were special order and took a few weeks to get delivered. Since we did have the additional twenty square feet of shingles, we did request that the home owner pay for half of the charge, keeping the cost still lower than our competition. We are glad that you are happy with the final product and again apologize for any inconvenience that you went through."
