Safety First Chimney & Fireplace Restoration

Safety First was terrific. I went on another site to search for chimney sweeps in my area and came up with several names. When I posted something about needing a chimney sweep, Vincent from Safety First was the first person and first company to respond (within about 3 minutes). Vincent offered to come up to my town, which is probably about 45 minutes from where he is based, but the weather and driving conditions were bad, so we scheduled an appointment for the next morning. Vincent worked hard-- it takes someone who is strong to force the piping up into the flue to clear the blockage. Vincent also vacumed the flue and checked it later to make sure it was venting properly. He was very polite and conscientious- he called to tell me when he was on his way, showed me his business card when he arrived, cleaned up after himself, and was honest. I had been told by someone else that I needed to replace my furnace, which kept shutting itself off. It turns out the furnace has a safety mechanism that shuts down the gas/heating function if the furnace detects that it is getting too hot or there is a problem with insufficient ventilation. Because Safety First cleared the blocked flue, my furnace is now able to heat my house and there is no need for it to shut itself off. I would have had Safety First install the replacement furnace, and told Vincent that already, so by telling me my equipment did not need to be replaced he actually is cutting himself off from a job I otherwise would have been glad to give him. If I need any chimney/fireplace work done in the future I will contact Safety First and not need to look elsewhere.

Great...When Vinnie got here after several detours. It's hard to be angry at someone who is so good at what he does. He seemed to be overextended in schedule but he is such a nice guy and so accommodating! Good, thorough job, took photos. Bottom line: I will look forward to seeing him again.

The work was handled in a professional manner at a fair price. In addition, after four months had elepsed, Vinnie returned to add a feature necessary for the installation of a gas fire at no extra charge. I was very impressed.

It went ok-- the work done was fine, with clear explanations. But there were some glitches, as far as problem solving was concerned. Lateness was an issue, and wanting to be paid partially in cash was also a problem.

The owner and assistant were very pleasant.

Our rain gutters were overdue to be cleaned, and Safety First had a great deal through Angie's List. Vinny and his co-worker went out of their way to come to the Bronx and clean our gutters before winter. They were very thorough and neat, and even hit the loose nails back into the gutters.

It was pretty good, it was okay. My wife said he spent very little time, I have no idea how much time they are supposed to spend, but she said he was done pretty fast. When he promised, he did not show up that day. I called him, he said he got busy or something, I don?t recall. So, I rescheduled with him and he came pretty late. <br /> <br /> He was a nice guy and my wife said everything was okay. He brought a ladder, went upstairs and he did the chimney. Then he said, the chimney was done with a machine, so next time you don?t have to do this ever, it is not necessary. He was at least true with that he told us to not have it done again, we would be wasting our money.

He was interested to install metal suite inside chimney Wants to sell service for $ 1200/ We refuse his offer !!!!!

Very well I was satisfied and would definitely use again.

Even though they cleaned up all the debris, they left, I don't know if this is something that I should have to deal with or them, but the floor of the cellar has soot all over it, and I'll have to have that professionally cleaned because it's just too much for me to do. Other than that, they did a good job. They stayed like 12 hours. The guy even put on like a miner's helmet with a light on and was working on the roof late at night. I commend him for that, but I still have this dirty floor down on me. They were very courteous. As far as the chimney liner, they did a good job. They worked so hard I didn't bother complaining about the floor, but the interaction that we had was good. I don't know if they can include cleaning up any soot they make in the cellar because that kind of job is very dirty, and I don't know what else they can do, but I wasn't expecting that and now I am going to have it professionally cleaned.

Excellent Got a call a day after I requested the repair via angieslist.com, they came a week after that to perform the work They did a great job, also pointed out some issues related to the exhaust fans on the roof, gave me a great price on the spot to repair. I would highly recommend and will hire them again next year to check the roof and make any necessary repairs.
