their service is horrible, while they do return if problems reoccur their second, third, fourth treatments do not work either.
Response from Sage Pest Control Corp
"Thank you for finding us here. You for sure have our attention! Sorry you’ve been having such a horrible experience. We want to help you and give you the experience that 10,000+ other customers are experiencing. Can you call in or can we call you? I just tried to call the number on the account that I think is right but, I want to make sure I’m looking at the right account. I don’t show an account with your name on it with a service being rendered June 4. I see an account that could work, scheduled for tomorrow though. Please respond here or call us or email me. Josh@sagepestcontrol.com. Happy to help."

Everything was excellent. One reason why I choose them was for their ecofriendly products.

It was great. TJ, the salesman, was super nice, knowledgeable, extremely professional. We had so many spiders in the home. The guy who came out for the service was friendly. Overall it was a great experience and it seems to be working.

They sprayed really good and I haven’t seen any after their service. They were really nice guys, polite, and seemed not to mind getting dirty. They are flexible with your needs. Would use in the future again

The technicians have been nice but the problems have not been addressed. I cannot keep taking off work to come wait during their two hour time period of when them may show for a problem that should have been treated a month ago. I would not recommend.
Response from Sage Pest Control Corp
"[Member Name Removed], We are so sorry you are having ant problems. Spring time is when ants are very active and are searching for food and shelter. It's really frustrating when they find refuge inside the home. We appreciate you giving us a shot to address your pest control needs and we are going to make it right. Sometimes with ants because they are so resilient, it can take multiple services to gain control. The other thing that customers who have active problems will see is an increase in activity because we are disrupting the nesting sites. We use the very best products the market has. We want to fix the problem long term rather than a short term insta-fix, so although its not ideal, what you are seeing isn't uncommon. When we come to customers homes, we really try to set proper expectations by a good explanation from the technicians and with the initial video we have customers watch. Just out of curiosity did you receive both of those? Also, looking at your account it looks like we have been there 2 times, and will be there later today for the 3rd service. Both times we've come, the ants in the kitchen and bathroom were addressed. I also show we have been very active calling you to see how the services went and for follow up. We really are here for you and want to make sure we are doing a great job. When you have problems we want to make sure we get it right. We want your ants gone and want to make sure you get resolve. Please feel free to reach back out to us if you have any other questions."

Dispute with billing department and was transferred to a sales manager who told me they can charge me as long as they sent out an email 2 days before they came and that he felt sorry about losing a customer.

Had signed up on 8/24 for their quarterly service. They charged me a discounted rate of $109 for the quarter. I then saw that fire ant pit in my yard was still present 3 days after they treated my lawn. Sales rep said they are legally not allowed to treat my property for given amount of time and came back in 9/20. They then charged my credit card for another $109. I called the company and inquired about the charge and all they can say was 'fire ants are not covered', but they'll use the standard treatment, which they will not guarantee. Then they said fire ants are 'extra charge' item. This company is a prime example of "Bait & Switch" tactic to get people signed up, then leverage the contract (which they have never provided me a copy, even after signing the contract on the sale rep's iPad) to say they will charge me 'cancellation fee'. I'm going to contact my lawyers if they try to charge me for a contractual violation that led me to cancelling my service. I will NEVER do business with this type of company and using Angie's List to inform others to avoid this company like a plague!

The salesman was very professional. The technician came once to spray outside while I was there, and was scheduled to come back while I wasn't here (out of town) to spray around the house. I felt that they needed to spray inside as well. Another thing I didn't like was that they needed my credit card information, which I'm not comfortable giving out. They said they would come out to spray a second time, but there was no receipt or evidence of them coming or not. Usually they would leave something letting you know that they came and what they did. It doesn't seem like there is any improvement in the amount of spiders. If anything, there are more spiders now than before.

<p>It was a waste of money. They had me on a plan for a year for X number of visits and yada, yada. It probably cost me at least $450 but I had more bugs coming in the house. I called them because I had bugs and I wanted to keep them outside. I have a little two bedroom, one bath house one over half an acre so I have more yard than I do house. When they are taking care of bugs, ants and everything out of the lawn the bugs had no place to go except into the house. They were very nice and very professional although it is not for me. It is not them, it is more my thing. I don't think my scenario was the best fit for buying them. They were very responsive. Their salesperson was nice. </p> <p><br /></p>

A young woman came to my door to offer the pest control service. I almost never  talk to door-to-door solicitors but she seemed very nice so I listened. I had been thinking of having some pest control done so it was a timely visit. She gave the "we are treating houses in the neighborhood so we have a Half price offer of $99 initial visit and $109 for follow up visits". Come to find out $99 is the going rate for any company and $109 is probably expensive.  <br> <br>My main issue with this company is the price. I expect a professional  company to offer their best price first and charge the same for all households. When the  guys came to do the service they asked me "What price did you agree to for the followup visits?" I said, "Wait, I could have gotten a better price??" and one of them said rather snidely "No, you already signed your service agreement". Later I walked over to their truck to pay, and saw the printouts of the customers for two days. Each address had a price next to it, and it ranged from $99,  down to $49!! Many other them were $79. And I'm sure I could have and should have gotten a cheaper price for follow up visits.  <br> <br>When dealing with a (supposed) professional company I do not expect to have to haggle over the price like it's a flea market. Give me your best price first, and charge the same for everyone. This leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth and I am sorry I went with this company. I am stuck with them for a year but will not be renewing. And that's the last time I talk to a door to door solicitor. <br> <br> <br>Bottom line: Price of service is highly negotiable - haggle with them mercilessly!! <br> <br>

Every "serviceman" who comes to the house looks like a college boy with a part time job, and the two times I have called with questions, the team members sound young and are not very knowledgeable.  They walk lackadaisically around the yard sprinkling stuff out of a bucket, and then put some unsightly powder on the vents.  I just called to cancel our contract and paid more than a service visit to do so.  Moving on to a higher quality company. <br />

"Thank you for leaving us a review. This feedback gives us things that we can continue to work on so that we are getting A ratings from our customers. A lot of our customers didn't have a problem before we came and continue to not have a problem because of the extensive services we provide at the home. Part of our mission statement is to offer the HIGHEST quality of services available and with everything we do, we really feel we accomplish that at every home. We hope we can have you as a customer long term so that you don't ever get that problem that requires a phone call from a pest control service. We'll help you long term to keep all the problems out and away."

Here is what happened - read to the end, most has been addressed by Sage:  <br /> <br /> <strong>Lie #1</strong>: a friendly, well-dressed, presentable young salesman came knocking and explained that they are locally-owned and operated and knowing we needed pest control, I agreed to sign up for the annual service.  Throughout the sign up process, <strong>salesman did admit that the company is in fact owned by a bunch of venture capitalists in Utah and the salesmen they employ are Brigham Young students.  </strong> <em>The salesman proceeded to inform me that the owners like to hire Mormons for summer jobs because "we're persistent, used to knocking on doors, come across as honest and trustworthy and rarely take 'No' for an answer.'<strong>  </strong></em>I'm in sales myself and actually think that's probably a really smart hiring practice so so I cut the guy some slack on the local ownership piece. We selected the annual services to include quarterly treatments: <em>exterior perimeter, interior perimeter, garage, attic and crawl space. </em> <br /> <strong><br /> Lie #2:</strong> technician comes out for the initial service and explains to me that he wishes the sales guys wouldn't promise attic, garage or crawl space because <strong>the technicians are only allowed to be at each property for 1 hour and they can treat whatever they can treat in that time frame </strong>so they  <em>typically never get to the garage, attic or crawl space within the time frame allotted. </em>Needless to say, I was not happy.   <br /> <br /> <strong>Problem #3</strong>: when the appointment came around for our termite control, I left work early to meet the technician at my house at 4p for my 4p - 6p scheduled consult.  He showed up at 3:10p and left because I was not there; <strong>I called customer service and they could not reach the technician between 4p - 6p when he was supposed to be at my house</strong>. I asked customer service to send me a summary statement and a copy of my contract and I would be in touch.  I've since called back twice more for that statement and after more than a week, after speaking with a manager, I did receive the account summary/statement. <em><br /> </em> <br /> <strong>RESOLUTION<br /> </strong>After my repeated attempts to reach a manager in customer service; a very professional and thorough Manager (Nate) has reached out to me and assured me that the above concerns have been forwarded to the appropriate managers and some of those business practices will be corrected.  Nate refunded the original charge since no one is sure what was actually treated. <br /> <br /> Nate acknowledged that they shouldn't be selling themselves as locally-owned and he assures me the technicians are indeed allotted whatever time necessary to fully treat customer property.  He did concede that although my contract should not have included interior, garage, attic and crawl space each treatment, as this is not something they typically do not include.......I suppose the salesman got a bit excited. <br /> <br /> Nate agreed to ongoing interior and garage treatments since they are listed in my contract. I will receive notification prior to treatment so that I can be present to allow them access to the property.  Beware, they actually do not treat attics if they have to access an entry that is higher than 6 feet above ground level. <br /> <br /> <strong>SECOND CHANCE</strong> <br /> I agreed to allow Nate to continue ongoing treatments but he did not abide by the guidelines he and I agreed to.  I arrived home to find a 'Your Services Were Performed' flyer on my front door when we agreed that services would not be performed if no one was home to allow garage and interior access.  I also noticed that the flyer indicates cobwebs were removed; I've taken photos because no cobwebs were removed whatsoever - not even the one in the corner beside the front door.  I'm severely disappointed and absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND that you consider this company for any services.

First red flag; a salesman shows up at my door on a weeknight at 6:00. Anyone selling a product or service door-to-door should have tipped me off that I should have done some homework, whatever, I didn't. The services began quarterly and we had several re-sprays due to an abundance of bug sightings after they sprayed. We also asked to get a courtesy call prior to the visits so they could spray inside the house, that happened 1 time very early on. The first 4 services complete, I was prepared to cancel. They show up un-announced again, met with my wife and asked her to sign a renewal because they convinced her we could not continue on a month-to-month contract, now we're hooked into 7 more services that had rarely worked the first 12 months. They continued to come and spray when we weren't home, we continued to see bugs, they missed a service and I wasn't even aware of that until I called to cancel and they reviewed the records to show no one every came in November. I was generally displeased with the service. I have used Orkin and Black Pest control in Charlotte and have had great results from both. I paid the cancellation fee and will NEVER do business with this outfit again. Don't be fooled by the door-to-door salesman when he sells you the world. Turn him away at the door and call a reputable company <br />
Response from Sage Pest Control Corp
"Family, I first and foremost want to apologize that you had this kind of experience with our services. This is uncharacteristic, and unfortunate for us as a company. We would have loved to continue to have/earn your business. I want to make sure this doesn't happen again so I did some research on your account. As I did more research into your account it looks like the main problem was the contact information on file. We had a bad phone number for you. Don't know when/where that happened, but we try and correct these problems quickly because we know how important it is. We had sent emails to the account on file, and as I look at the notes I show from our notes the phone only ringing, and then a message saying the phone has been disconnected all the way back to October 2013. A customer service representative called on every scheduled quarterly service that you had to try and connect with the number on file. When we received that disconnection message that's when we followed up with the emails. We are usually very good and consistent when it comes to notifying our customers, and I'm sorry we couldn't connect with you. To help us with making sure we are using every method available we will have text messaging, and emails to notify our customers on their mobile devices. As far as the other problems you were having. We use different products than both of the companies you mentioned in your comments. Because of that its not unusual to have an increase amount of activity. The products we use go deep into the nesting sites which will push bugs out of their places of comfort. That's exactly what we want to do, clean and remove the majority of the problems. We really try to work with the homeowners as well to notify us IF they do see extra problems in between services. Every home is different and can take a varied amount of time to "control" a pest problem. We offer those in-between services at no charge and are happy and quick to respond when we hear from the customer. If we don't hear from you we assume you're ok and that there isn't problems. I'm disappointed we couldn't come out and help you better. I didn't see any re-service call's on your account, which would explain why you weren't getting the extra attention your home probably needed. We really do pride ourselves in being a customers company. As one of the fastest growing pest control companies in North Carolina we want to make sure everyone has a great experience, from our door to door route coordinators to our technicians to our customer service representatives. I have been doing this long enough to know what our competition does and doesn't do. We aren't perfect, but I don't know of anyone that does a better job than we do. I would love to work with you IF you wanted to give us another go. Hopefully after this exchange we can both approach this differently and make sure both of us are on the same page from the beginning. At the very least, thank you for your feedback. We can't get better if we don't know what frustrations our customers are having. This review although disappointed, will make us a better company."

Since Sage took over my pest control a year ago I have not seen any centipedes at any time ever. The previous company was not able to control these pests even though they were a better known company. I am completely happy with the service Sage has provided and will not use anyone else even though they are a few dollars more than the previous service. <br />

"[removed member name], Thats right! Centipedes fear us! ha ha. : ) On a more serious note, Thank You for being a customer and giving us a shot. I know it can be tough leaving something you are comfortable with to trying someone you may have never heard of before. For us, reviews like your's lets us know that we are heading in the right direction. We aren't perfect, but we sure want to get as close to that mark as possible. We want everyone to have this kind of experience at Sage."
