They did very well. They were very cooperative and very nice; we had no problems all the way through.

Everything went fine. They came when they said they would and finished when they said they would. They were really helpful in recommending other companies as well. I would definitely recommend them to others.

The salesman told me everything would be done to my satisfaction including all debris being picked up from my property and the roof being thoroughly sealed. I have had a rodent problem in the past and didn't want to have that happen again. He also said the work would be done in 30 days. He would apply for the permits and let me know when the materials would be delivered.
I would have to pay 1/3rd deposit that day (3 Nov 12) and pay 1/3rd at material delivery and the final 1/3rd when the job was finished.
I needed to remove the solar panels from the roof; so, I wasn't pressing to have the job done until after that. When I had that done, and I still hadn't heard from the contractor, I called (just after the first of December). I was asked if I wanted the job done before the holidays and I said yes. On the 14th of December, I received a phone call at work. Mr. Kennedy needed my signature on the permit request. I came to my workplace for the signature. The work started that day. Mr. Kennedy also asked for my second check even though the materials weren't delivered and he wanted $10K versus the 7K we'd agreed to on the contract. The next day, Saturday, I found nails in my yard. I actually stepped on one; had I not had very thick shoes on, it would have gone in my foot. I complained to the lead workman. He said he would make sure that didn't happen again. I still am finding nails and other debris on my property.
On Monday night (the 17th), I got a call from Mr. Kennedy saying the work was completed. He wanted his 3rd payment. He said the Orange County inspector had been there and said the roof was finished. He also said the dumpster would be removed the next day.
The dumpster was not removed and there was an obviously rotten board on the eave above my garage. In addition, I kept picking up debris from my yard. I called the number on the contract and left a message. No one returned my call.
I called again the next day (the 19th), the dumpster was removed but I still wanted resolution to the other problems. Also, the dumspter left large gouges in my driveway. Finally, the roof hadn't had a final inspection even though Mr. Kennedy told me it had. Again, no one called me back.
I called a 3rd time the following week (26 Dec) because now I was also hearing something in my attic. Given the rat problem I had before, I knew that's what it was. I still received no call back. I hired my own pest control and got the rats removed as well as the holes they were entering closed (for $900). I also noted some of my pool screens were torn adjacent to the roof. I finally talked to Christine (secretary) on January 3rd after my neighbor contacted her (he'd recommended this company to me). She said he found out their phones weren't working properly. She also told me the final inspection would be done on the 4th of January.
When Mr. Kennedy and I finally talked on Friday, the 4th of January, he insisted they had no record of my calls on their state of th art phone system despite my messages (intimating I lied about calling). He said his saleman shouldn't have said that they would take care of any rat problems because rodent control is not roof contracting. He insisted the rats came through the soffitt. He told me I could have paid them more and they would have taken care of the problem. He said he knew nothing about the rotten board; I requested it be replaced and said I should have been given that option. They did replace the board at no extra charge. I told him about the pool screens; he said they would look at pictures they took before the job was done. No resolution on this; no follow up calls from the company. I didn't bother to tell him about the driveway or say anymore about all the debris (which I am still picking up).
The inspection by the county was done on the 4th of January.
The last straw is that they did not pay the supplier of the roof materials and now the supplier is threatening a lien against my home. I called 2 numbers today; one allowed a message and the other (Mr. Kennedy's cell phone) does not have a voice mail box.
I have no idea if the roof is a quality roof or was done in a quality fashion. I only know this company has horrible customer service and makes no real attempt to resolve issues and they obviously have financial problems.
The initial visit went very well, and was professional in manner. The Field Manager Gene, and a Sr Roofing consultant, Tierny, made their pitch to myself and my 80 year-old mother. We agreed to roof replacement because of issue with repaired roof upon future sale of house. They quoted $17,500 and stated they were giving us an excellent price ("not much above cost") based upon the size and type of roof to be replaced, the type of roof tiles, and a superior underlayment system. They also provided a booklet explaining the company and its origins and goals, standards, etc. They stated that many other homes in the neighborhood, a gated community, were in need of new roofs, and they really needed a first roof to get in the door for references to other homes. We agreed to their contract that day, and as dictated by the contract provided a $6,000 check as a deposit. We did not get a second opinion or quote based upon how well the meeting went, even though we knew their price was higher than a a couple of homes which recently installed new roofs. (same size, same quality). Shortly after signing the contract is when minor aggravations started, followed by major issues:
1. Several aggravations with scheduling: Their employees not showing up when promised, or showing up at the entry gate unscheduled. Several times my mother had to repeat that a call and scheduling was required in our community before coming out. They were irrittated that they could not past the gate, even though the procedure was explained to their scheduling office and other staff.
2. Upon a heavy rain storm, the roof leaked. It leaked in a new area, same bedroom, around sliding doors and other part of wall necessitating entire wall to be replaced as opposed to patching the one area of original leak. Their roofer came, inspected interior of damaged wall, noted new leak, then proceeded to fix the leak.

3. On one side of the house, though all the tiles were installed, it looked unfinished, as the edge of the tile cut needed some matching concrete to smooth it out. The owner, Everitt and the Field Manager, on the same walk-around inspection, agreed to finish this off, and said the roofer would be scheduled to come out. This never happened.
My mother called several times to get items 2 and 3 addressed. She did finally speak with the Field Mgr Gene, about both items 2 and esp. 3., and she asked for partial reimbursment with the need to now replace the entire wall due to new leak created when the roof was replaced. Gene referred her to the owner, Everitt. She called and Everitt never heard her out, got angry, and gave her a hard time about the witholding $100. This $100 was witheld until work for item 3 was completed, which was agreed to. On final payment, $100 was withheld until all was completed.

4. After a couple of months exposure to typical Florida weather, but no severe storms, etc, several chunks of roof concrete used in the gullies, etc., have fallen off the roof. Now we are concerned about new leaks springing up. .
I contacted Sr Consultant, Tierny, to have items 2 and 3 addressed, after there was no follow-up to my mother. I called him again when there again was no follow-up. This time I also informed him about new item, #4. He stated someone should have called after my first call and advised me to call the office manager, which I did. I reviewed items 2-4 with her, and also explained I was calling because when my mother spoke to the owner previously, he got short with her and did not hear her out. I stated we wanted to resolve eveything in a productive way. She assured me that the company wanted to address these issues and work something out, and that Everitt, the owner, would call my mother the next morning. This never happened. I called again about two weeks later and no one answered the phone so I left a message. It has been another 3 weeks without a call.
In summary, we have no confidence that this company will ever address any of the above items, and are very unlikely to stand by their 17-year warranty. Our next step to get these items addressed is the Better Business Bureau.
Saltwater Home Resources' communication isn't the greatest. The roof was put on really well. They did a good job on the roof. After I gave them the deposit I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks and when I called them up they were out the next week. They were honest and said that it would be 3- 4 weeks. All in all it was decent. I think it could have been a little cheaper. Quality is all right. I had an issue with a drip edge, but the roof looks good. They are really responsive when they want to get paid. Once I knew when they were coming they were punctual.

For the most part, Saltwater Home Resources, Inc. has been very professional and the end product shows it. The new roof looks great. The roof that I had replaced had much dry rot and corresponding damaged plywood under the shingles. The initial proposal was one price that included the replacement of all the damaged plywood. I knew what I was going to have to pay before the work was even started because of the thorough inspection of the roof before the proposal was submitted to me. I was impressed with the fact that they did not scrimp on materials. After the underlayment was put on a rainstorm ensued and even without the shingles installed, the roof didn't leak. The nice looking shingles were the icing on the cake. Of course only time will tell how long the roof will last but all things considered, I'm confident that I am in for many years with a roof that will protect the rest of the house from the ravages of the harsh Florida weather.

There were a few delays and miscommunication but the end result is it looks good. We would give them an A grade for the work they did. The workers were fantastic and worked very hard.

It went very badly. They put it on incorrectly the first time. Even the roof inspector from the county wouldn't pass them. It leaked in about 5 or 6 places in my house. I had to have the ceilings repainted. They had to come back out and jackhammer the concrete that they had put on the tiles because the water couldn't go down the mansard. The water now goes over my tiles and I have a waterfall that goes over the front of my house. I now have to get new gutters. Do not hire them.

Terrible. First off, the salesman came across as very professional and knowledgable. I believe he was good intentioned but not knowledgable. My experience with this company was a downhill spiral from the moment i provided a $3000 down payment. I would warn anyone who deals with this company to get every single thing promised for the job in excruciating detail and written in plain language not shop talk. Here is what happened:
I provided a down payment for two items. 1. $700 for a roof leak, and $3000 for an ENTIRE roof replacement. The total cost was to be $9500. Considering I had active roof leaks in my home, I was told the job would be performed in the next week. That was not the case.
I was promised the following:

All roof leaks would be fixed and guaranteed for 17 years.

The ENTIRE roof would be replaced.

The foreman of the company would absolutely figure out my roof leaks, not a problem.

Here is what I got:
No one ever out to my house to evaluate what it would take to fix the leaks. I made MANY phone calls and was told on MANY occasions that someone would come, but they never did. I inquired on multiple occasions as to when the job would be performed. Calls were not returned. When they were, I was told different things from 2 weeks to 6 plus weeks.
I explained on multiple occasions that the leak issue was going to be difficult, and was advised that they had 30 years experience and not to worry.
When they finally came after four weeks (my home leaking actively during this time), and after they started removing the old roof, I was told the following: "We never knew anything about the leak or the $1500 agreement to fix it.", "The whole roof will not be replaced, because the contract did not specifically state such"
After a number of conversations with the owners of the company, I was promised that they would attempt to fix the leak, and not charge me for the work. That never happened. Every time I was told something by one person, someone else would deny the statement. Calls NEVER occurred when promised and appointments were never met. Finally, after a conference with one of the owners, I was promised a return call regarding the leak. That never came.
In summary, this company is disorganized and unreliable. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. The salesman makes promises that the company has no intention of delivering on. i can only hope that the workmanship turns out to be OK, because I am confident that any request for warranty coverage would be a nightmare.

Home Resources installed two sky lites and the work was completed. However, overall commuication was inadequate.
Installers showed up without calling calling. This created an inconvenience for me, because I had to leave work to ask and answer questions of installers.
Also skylite needed cleaning, after install, again workers showed up with wrong ladder promised to come back next
day and did not show up. There appears to be no coordination between office and workers with no oversight by management.

shingled roof with Owens Corning Weather Lock G Saltwater Home Resources was contracted to replace a tile roof with a Shasta White shingled roof. The salesmen had told me that there would be a crew of 3-4 including a supervisor which would come and tear off the roof and a second crew consisting of 3-4 workers including a supervisor (which would be Owens Corning Certified) would come back the following day and install the new roof. I chose going with the Shasta White because the salesmen informed me there would be a government rebate for that color. On 5/4/2012 three people arrived at approximately 11:30 A.M.. The supervisor promptly left leaving the two workers to tear off the old roof. The two workers did a fantastic job. One of the workers dropped a tile off the roof and it broke a pvc pipe going into my well pump. He was extremely apologetic and i turned off the well pump. The general manager, Brian O'Halloran arrived and I informed him of the damaged pipe. He told me the supervisor Alex would take care of the situation when he returned. At approx. 5:30 Supervisor Alex showed up and I told him of the pipe and he told me he would get to it today because he had a major repair to do Monday, he and the crew completed the tear off of the old roof and replaced the bad wood and laid the SWA Weatherlock G Underlayment. They were here till approx. 7:30 p.m. The supervisor left with no notice and without the pipe being repaired. There was very to little cleanup. I had broken tile and debris all over my driveway and had to do some clean up of my own. The office was closed and it was not until Monday the 7th of May that I saw the supervisor Alex again. He dropped off three workers and told me he would be back later to fix the pipe as I knew of his previous obligation for some big repair job some other place. He did come back later and attempted a repair but the pipe continued to leak. He told me he would return the next Saturday the 12th to effect repairs. On the 8th I spoke with Brian the general manager in reference to the broken now leaking pipe and he told me that Alex was going to fix the pipe on Saturday. When I suggested that maybe someone else fix the pipe I was told by Brian that Alex took pride in his work and he wanted to be the one to fix the pipe. I also asked about the wind mitigation report and he told me someone from the office would be scheduling that and they would call me. Saturday came and went with me sitting there waiting for Alex to return to fix the pipe. On Monday i called Alex's cell phone and he told me i was to call him on Saturday and make an appointment for him to fix the pipe and that I should call him back the following Saturday the 19th to make my appointment for him to fix the pipe. I then called the office and spoke with a lady and apprised her of the situation and she agreed with me that i shouldn't have to call him to make an appointment and she would discuss the situation with the Owner and she would call me back. I set asked her about my wind mitigation and when I would be receiving my documentation for the Shasta White shingle rebate and she not so nicely informed me that we already had this discussion and that the government may or may not have retracted the rebate for that shingle. I informed her we never had this conversation and I would like to know more about it and she called me a liar without actually calling me a liar insisting we had this conversation before. I assure all who read this we never had that conversation. It does seem odd that a roofing company would be hit unawares by the fact the government would be retracting a rebate. it is not like someone woke up on Tuesday and said that's it no more! Usually they give notice of these things. This is the 23rd of May. I have no idea about a rebate. No one has come by to fix my pipe and I think the leak caused my well pump to turn on and off so much that now it does not work at all. I have to have someone else come out on Friday to fix this mess. My roof does look nice and I believe the workers to have done an outstanding job on replacing the roof. If only their management team and office staff worked as well as the laborers! I did receive my Wind Mitigation report by a super friendly 3rd party company hired by Saltwater Water Resources. Divinity Inspection Services. I was contacted by the owner of Saltwater Home Resources Inc. A Mr. Everte Farnall and he was not pleased by the problems and he sent someone out to finish cleaning up the debris, reimbursed me for the cost I paid to have the pipe repaired and threw in a carpet cleaning. He was very upset about the situation and I think that is a great thing! He did all he could do to make things right and that is what you want after all. A company that will stand by their work and willingness to correct mistakes made.

It was really negative experience. I do not recommend them to anyone. They were recommended by a neighbor before I started Angie's List. They are the the reason I started on Angie's List, so I would not have this experience again. After an initial estimate of $12000.00 they ended up charging me $18000.00. They damaged the stucco siding and gutters on my house. It took them two months to complete the roof. The only way I got them to finish was to tell them that I was going to void the contract and use another contractor. They showed up the following week.
Response from Saltwater Home Resources Inc
"Boy, the member's comments are so full of half-truths it's hard to know where to start. First off the time frame to finish his work. The member's house was damaged in a sever storm. He hire us to do the roof and wanted us to help in the claims process with his insurance company. When his INSURANCE company, a very small insurance company in Florida, was taking a long time to process the claim, the member called and complained to us. He threatened to hire someone else to do the roof. We explained no one was going to do his roof without payment. If he wanted us to proceed with the work immediately, before his insurance company paid the claim, he would have to pay for the roof. He agreed and we got his roof on our schedule immediately, just like we would any other roof. You see, the problem was not our delaying the roof, the problem was the insurance company delaying the roof. Once he said he wanted to move forward with the roof we got the roof done immediately. Now to the price difference. When the member wanted us to come out and do the roof right away, we agreed to have him pay our hard cost on the roof and collect our overhead cost and profit once the insurance company paid the claim. He signed off on that agreement. So you see, we didn't change our price, we simply asked him to pay a portion of the cost up front and we agreed to wait for the balance until he received the money from the insurance company. We never changed of the price, he is just upset because he wasn't able to keep the $6,00 he originally agreed to give us when the insurance company paid for the roof work. In short, instead of asking for the $18,000 up front, we agreed to wait to collect $6,000 of it until his insurance company paid him. We all agreed in writing and now he says we changed the price. Dishonest and misleading on his part! We were trying to do him a favor. As side note, we had to find out the insurance company paid from them, then we had to pursue the member for payment. He tried very hard not to pay us even thought the agreement he said obligated him to. As far as the stucco siding and his gutters, we never heard anything about the issue. IF we did indeed damage his gutters and/or stucco (and I am very suspect considering his house was severely damaged in a storm and his comments here are less than forthright) we would be happy to correct the issue. That kind of thing is a VERY uncommon occurrence with our crews, however when it does happen we are quick to correct the issue as soon as we're notified about it. And lastly, the member's roof was completed a year ago. The fact that his report suggests we just finished is all the more reason to wonder about inaccuracies in his report. This report of his is nothing less than defamation. Simply look to our previous comments for a more accurate view of our work, good and bad. This guy simply has an ax to grind!!"

They are a good company; we had no problems with them. They put a new roof on our house. I liked the interaction before we signed off on them. I liked their professionalism. They did a great job in putting the roof on. They did the job within the time frame they said they would. They cleaned up the yard. Overall, from that stand point they did a great job. We had some rain, nothing like a hurricane, and there are no leaks so that’s good news. The only thing I didn’t like about them was that their operations manager would promise to call me back and then I wind up having to call him. I have tried calling several times asking them to return and inspect the joists in my roof, but they have yet to respond to my messages.
