Schoenherr Roofing

Schoenherr Roofing was hired to install a roof, fascia wood with wrap and gutters on the front of the house. Unfortunately, Schoenherr Roofing installed a roof in violation of both Michigan building codes and Owens Corning installation requirements. A certified Haag inspector deemed that the workmanship deficiencies and code violations to be widespread and severe, exceeding 25% of the roof surface, and determined the roof is not repairable and must be replaced in its entirety. At a later date, a state certified inspector deemed the roof as unrepairable and the township building code inspector failed the inspection for multiple violations. I brought the deficiencies to the attention of Schoenherr Roofing?s Director of Operations and after 1.5 weeks, he responded with a unilateral change to remove contractual obligations, refused to address concerns until final payment is made first and initiated a lien on the property. The lack of accountability and failure to execute is astounding.

Their gutter hangers are incompetent. One of my rain gutters was hung so that it drained away from the downspout and overflowed the far end of the gutter. After numerous calls they said a crew came out and fixed it but the next time it rained same problem. I called 2 more times and they never came back. Finally gave up and fixed it myself. Now my roof is leaking and the rep who came out to inspect it tried to blame the leak on the rain gutter repair even though it is in a total differt area of roof. Gave my wife a tube of caulk and left. That is what their great warranty is worth. I would not hire them to fix my doghouse roof.

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.

I had Dustin install a bathroom vent out the roof. He was efficient and very professional, nice job!

We recently had our roof replaced and I pleased to report that Schoenherr Roofing Company delivered a five-star performance. from the initial call with Amanda to schedule a meeting with Joe ,who thoroughly explained the entire process to my wife and me, the experience was seamless . Additionally, Korey, the project manager, kept us informed throughout the process providing regular updates,photos,and addressing all our questions. we will undoubtedly utilize their services again in the future for our siding needs. Would not recommend. We used them to install new siding. Rep sold us on a new composite. They installed it incorrectly and admitted it was not done right. They would not make a concession on the price except for a $500 discount. Awful installation, even worse customer service.

Caleb was our salesperson, I was so impressed how he worked with our insurance company to make sure our claim went through properly. Chad was our project manager, he did a great Job communicating how the process would go before during and after the installation. Very impressed!

I had Schoenherr Roofing out for a 5 year inspection and was extremely pleased with their tech Dustin . Polite , knowledgeable, hard worker and took pictures of all his work so I could verify the fixes . Overall a great experience!

Overall, I would not recommend them. We decided to go with Schoenherr Roofing based off of the good reviews online, their company profile and workmanship seemed above others and their pricing fell within the middle of the quotes we received from other companies for our project. The good: 1.) Joe was a very, nice, informative and non-pushy salesman/contact to deal with and work towards the development and signing of a contact for our roofing replacement. 2.) Initially, upon signing our contract, we were told that it could be roughly 4 weeks for the project to commence. Upon the initial payment, we were booked for them to begin only 1 week later. 3.) The roof replacement/installation was completed (mostly) in one day and looks great and appears to be done with quality workmanship. The bad: 1.) Upon being told the project was "completed" and requested for payment, the additional bathroom exhaust vent that was to be installed was not done, it was missed. They did come out and complete this in a fairly timely manner, but this was an inconvenience. 2.) 6 packs of extra shingles were ordered to "complete some more work" since they were apparently shorted these in the initial delivery and would complete it along with the bathroom vent missed. Shingles were delivered, but I was then told this was a mistake and that the shingle installation was indeed completed and they would be picked up. The bathroom vent installation was completed on 8/5, the shingles still sit in my driveway today. 3.) The cleanup - This was not very thorough and unacceptable in my opinion. Nails, staples, plastic, shingle pieces, etc. in my driveway, lawn, back deck and all around the property. Two separate other "magnetic sweeps" for nails, staples, etc. were completed in the weeks after, but I am still finding some around my property. Also, my Trex back deck was damaged in the process of cleaning up as there are drag marks gouged into the top boards by the step down and on the adjacent posts from dragging their tarps and equipment. The deck is less than a year old, so I know this damage is from their cleanup. 4.) The scheduling of the final inspection. I had the inspection scheduled for Monday, August 11 between 3-4. I took time off of work to arrive home early in time for the inspection, no one arrived. Thinking they may be running late, I called at 4 to confirm and was told I was scheduled for Wednesday, not Monday, even though I had a formal appointment for Monday. In the end, I was told it was a mix-up, but would need to reschedule for Wednesday. It was indeed completed Wednesday, but again, another inconvenience in this whole process. In the end, the task of replacing my roof was completed and it looks acceptable, so job done I suppose. However, their quality in other areas and the multiple issues/inconveniences I encountered really left me unsatisfied overall with Schoenherr Roofing.

LIARS. I will never recommended this company. They break their contract and don’t make it right!! Cleanliness: 0/10. We had to pick up nails, screws and staples from our driveway, yard, and dog run. fast food wrappers and plastic from materials all of yard and woods. In the process of demolishing, they damaged our personal property and did nothing about it. Craftsmanship: 2/10. In the process of installing the roof, multiple areas where flashing was or was supposed to be was not replaced. I personally had to leave work to go buy, pick up, and deliver facia boards for the crew due to their unpreparedness. In the process of changing the facia, they damaged our siding which they decided to just throw some caulk and wood filler over. When the roof was being quoted it was identified that we were going to be getting new gutters yet when the install of roof happened, the crew cut the drip edge around every gutter bracket instead of asking me to remove it or removing it. Now the gutters are off and there are a lot of not needed notches everywhere. To add to nails and staples, there were a lot more all in the gutters. Flashing flew off the roof and sat in my yard for months waiting for it to be fixed. We also have a couple soft/spongy spots that were supposed to be fixed but never got fixed. Communication: 1/10. Our roof was completed in November of 2023 for nearly $30,000. Since then, we have had a crew come back to replace flashing and fix roof vents. We had another crew come out to fix the siding and drip edge. We have been told by 2 people now that to “make it right” we would get money back and also get the necessary work done but now I’m being asked to pay the remainder $750 bill and that we will “not get any money back because they had to send their crews out three time which has cost them a lot of money” I don’t care if it cost them a lot of money because the job should have been done right, it’s warrantied work, still hasn’t been finished, and I should not have to have put under over a year of stress. I have called multiple times now to get this settled but have not received a call back just an email with a bill. I was hoping for better but have been left disappointed, disheartened, and very frustrated. For nearly $30000 I would think there would be a lot more urgency to rectify this situation that they have put us in.

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Salesman did a thorough inspection. Price was competitive. They arrived on time and completed the job in one day. It was the hardest working crew I've ever seen. Provided photos along the way from the initial inspection through the installation and completion. Answered all my questions (even after hours). Clean up was terrific. I would HIGHLY recommend.

Great!!! Arrive promptlly, pollite, friendly excellent work completed. The Debri was bagged and removed by the Roofer. Much appreciated. We will definately use him again. Excellent work!
