I enjoyed working with Joe and his team on this project. The estimate was fair and the scope of work was well detailed. The team offered various improvements throughout the project that were helpful in making this a fantastic bathroom. The tile quality of work is amazing and the tile design work is awesome! The team stayed on time and on budget. They were very easy to work with and I would highly recommend them for any home renovation project.
We live in a 1970s colonial where the kitchen and living/dining rooms were separated by a wall with a doorway. Watching so many shows on HGTV, we wanted an open concept where we could entertain guests. Joe, the owner came in and gave us a solid quote, not the cheapest or most expensive. Based off of previous Angie's List recommendations we made a great decision to go with Seamless Transitions Construction (STC).
Once the project started, it was the little things that made for a very positive experience. STC treated our house as if it were their own. With a wall coming down between the old kitchen and dining room, and much of the area being taken down to the studs, there was a ton of dust. STC built a temporary wall between the construction area and our family room with a door to keep the dust out. At the end of each day, STC fully swept the construction area as we had to walk through it to get to the upstairs. The range was kept operational for a good portion of the project until the point where the wiring was removed. A temporary kitchen sink was installed so we could still do small amounts of dishes, etc.
Removing a load-bearing wall to open up the area proved easier than expected. STC strictly followed code and passed inspection with no issues. Of course there would be plumbing that would need moving. Supply lines cannot go in an outside wall, so STC figured out a way to build the lines into an archway that improved the look of the space.
STC did just about all of the major work from rough construction, removing the load-bearing wall, drywall, installing hard wood flooring, installing cabinets, painting, plumbing, electrical, appliance installation, etc. I should mention that installing trim work for an older house without a straight wall proved to be a challenge that STC was able to handle with ease. About the only task that was fully outsourced was granite counter fabrication and installation.
As with any major construction/renovation project, we had changes that we wanted made on the fly. We had set the kitchen up with only one sink, but did not foresee that the distance between the gas cooktop and the sink would be as far as it was. We ended up moving the location of the under cabinet microwave and putting another sink in its place. Obviously this left us with the wrong type of cabinets in both spots (both were already installed along with the counter top, but STC was able to make it look as though it was the original layout all along.
I would highly recommend STC for your kitchen renovation. All of the employees were very professional and friendly and made the experience and enjoyable one!
Our experience with Joe and his team was exceptional and left us with a master bedroom better than we had ever planned.
From the beginning, Joe helped with brainstorming ideas on making the space more functional and how to create more space where it didnt currently exist - which is tough in an old Ferndale home. It was a large undertaking of knocking down walls, raising the rough, and expanding into floorless storage space. As his team began the project, they were all incredibly friendly and courteous. Joe kept us up to date on how the team was progressing and what the timelines would look like.
Joe even came back after a panicked call from me in the winter that something else had broken in our house and had someone there the next day to help us out.
We enjoyed our experience with Joe so much that we have already brought him back to get quotes on a couple of additional projects.
It went very well. Joe and Justin arrived on our scheduled date and reviewed everything we had agreed to do and then some. We weren't too sure how bad the flooring was underneath the carpet. Because of this, we weren't too concerned about destroying the carpet to get the floors fixed, but were hoping we could keep it intact. Joe and Justin took great care in making sure we could reuse the carpeting after their repairs did a fantastic job. Both were really friendly, professional, and very skilled in their trade.
I would definitely recommend to them to any of our friends and neighbors (and will do so).
Great job guys..and thanks a ton for the help!
Joe and his crew are very attentive, flexible and fairly priced. We started with one project and it segued into more--we liked his work, and felt very comfortable having him and his team in the house when we were both out of town. Joe provides honest and fair work, and I would highly recommend him for any type of construction or renovation project around the house.
I think the company is great even though I was not expecting the addition to cost so much. So I am going to hold off on the work for now and when I am ready they are definitely a possibiltiy. The owner is extremely pleasant and is willing to work with you and answer any questions you may have.

Joe was incredibly responsive in getting over to check out my basement. It was a DIY disaster from the previous owner but since money was tight, I wanted to salvage what I could. Joe totally understood me, unlike other contractors who gave quotes, and gave me a very reasonable quote on the work. Due to a health issue with his carpenter, he was unable to start at the agreed time, but kept in contact with me and even threw in some other small things to make up for it, which I found to be very cool. All in all, the work took about two weeks and it looked FANTASTIC. He did a wonderful job, especially fixing the previous owner's snafus.

The basement took 1 month and one week. The workers were outstanding. They took care of my house as much as they did their work. The cedar work is outstanding. During the process the contractor made sure to keep me informed about they progress and asked many detail questions. I always felt like I was included, and any suggestion or change was never a challenge. They arrived promptly everyday and worked their full shift. It was a pleasure to use the company and partnering with them on my vision.

Joe McCrady and his team were great from quote to finish. He was responsive in quoting process, was honest about timing, and completed work as promised, promptly and gave us a great result. The quote was fair and in the middle of other quotes we received. He and his team were also a pleasure for my wife to work with around the house. We couldn't be happier with the work he did and expect to use him again.
Joe provided a competitive quote for the work and the positive Angie's List reviews helped make our decision. He showed up when he said he would and got the work done quickly and professionally. My wife and I were very happy with the quality of work performed and Joe seemed like an honest guy who takes pride in his work. We will definitely be contacting him for any future projects.
Although we really liked Joe, the job took much longer and cost 60% more than the original quote. It took my husband weeks to completely get the grout off the tile so we could finish the rest of the project ourselves. My husband also had to mend the carpet going to the bathroom from the threshold. A couple of months later our water began to smell like sulfur. We had a specialist come out to test our water and it was fine- but a rod was left in the water heater that was supposed to have been taken out due to our hard water. Again, more money...

I read the response from the provider and agree, it is disappointing that after this long I felt the need to write the review. I simply want to make sure this doesn't happen to anybody else. I tried hard not to write a review at all- only because we liked and got along with Joe, and I figured he wouldn't make the same mistakes in the future. However, there were a couple of other items I did not mention and the water heater was the last incident- and it took months to discover that issue. I did not include the additional work or the cost of the materials in the 60%, those were completely separate. The quote (cap) was competitive, but because the job took so much longer, we felt we should pay above and beyond that for quality work. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for us.
Response from Seamless Transition Construction LLC
"Customer satisfaction is our number one goal for our company. It is quite disappointing to hear of a unsatisfied client especially after 4 months have gone by with no contact from the client to inform me of any issues. If there is are any issues we come out and resolve them immediatly at no extra cost to the client. When there is additional work added to the orginal scope of work, then yes, labor costs do increase. When quoted, material are chosen in the mid range and if the client selects materials higher than the original material allowance, then the price will also increase from what was originally quoted. Our prices are extremely competitive and in many cases, we come in under most companies."

Joe installed deck to wall lag screws per recommendation of the structural engineering company he referred me to to reinforce my existing deck to provide the necessary support to allow me to leave my hot tub/spa on my deck which is approx 10' above ground. Joe completed the job on time and visually appears to be centered and installed properly. Time will tell and price seemed a bit higher than I would've have thought for the job but the job was done well and on time. Joe did give me a break on the original price.

We had out of town guests coming and our downstairs bathroom was to say the least an embarrassment. I was a little skeptical about Joe's promise that he could get our bathroom remodel done in just two weeks. I was getting a little nervous because we were coming down to the wire and it didn't look like he'd be done in time. But he did - and it turned out beautiful. Joe was very pleasant, professional and helpful. When he first started tearing out the old shower he found that the main drain pipe had been leaking (apparently for a while). He replaced it and the wood that was rotted. I'm sure he saved us a lot of money down the road. Joe did all the work himself, except on the Saturday before our guests arrived his wife came to help grout the tiles in the shower. She did a nice job.
When the job was done, Joe cleaned up the area and didn't leave a mess.
There was a small tile on the outside of the shower that was missing and we didn't have "hot-hot" water in the shower. I called Joe and the next day he came to look at it. He then came back the day after and fixed it.
When he gave us the estimate it was almost $1,000 less than what it ended up costing. However, with the cost of replacing and repairing the pipes and rotted wood we are still pleased and would not hesitate using Joe's Seamless Transition Construction company again.

While he did a very nice job overall, I will have to go back and touch up on his paint job. He missed a couple of spots - I'm sure that was due to the fact that this was such a quick remodel.
Overall we were very pleased with his work and would recommend him.
Joe came out right away to look over the project and give us a quote. It was more reasonable than two others we had gotten, and Joe seemed like a really nice, honest guy, so we agreed. He then proceeded to tackle the tearoff. When he got into it, he showed us the lack of support for the overhang and deck area, and discussed the additional labor/material cost with us before proceeding. We once again agreed, and he and his team worked as much as the weather allowed. It did take a bit long than expected as we hit a rather rainy spell, but he made sure everything was sealed before the rain came. He was very diligent, and communicated extremely well with us and his crew, so that the job was done to our satisfaction. We are very happy with the outcome, and would highly recommend Seamless Transition Construction and Joe McGrady to anyone who needs some work done.
Joe did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it! Cleaned the area @ the end of each day so as not to leave a mess. Fair and honest, worked very hard w/ few breaks! Reasonably priced ~ I felt very comfortable w/ the partnership.
Joe was very easy to work with! He provided different tile samples to help guide me in the decision process. He completed the job in 2 days and kept the kitchen very clean with drop clothes. His prices are very reasonable and the quality is exceptional. I will be using him again on many other projects!!

When you are looking for contractors it can be a scary thing, especially as a woman, and I felt completely at ease as soon as I had my first consultation. There was no intimidation or pressure "sales pitch", ended up feeling like a part of the family, and would absolutely use this company time and time again. First off, the price was very reasonable, especially for the quality of work that was done and the upgrades I requested. Budget was a huge issue for me so when I told them my budget, they actually stuck to it, instead of coming to me and draining my account. Which I've experienced before. Gave me a few plans to look at based on what I told them I wanted, instead of just one. I tend to change my mind frequently as new products always continue to come out, and each time I did so, there was no frustration because my satisfaction seemed to be priorty one. The length of the project seemed to be within normal standards. All in all, I would absolutely recommend this company to everyone.
