Sears Heating and Cooling - Washington D.C.

I have used Sears before for other services and I have always been very pleased with their quality service.

It went well

We received an estimate and it was the best one, which not only included a new furnace system and air conditioning system, but an energy tax credit as well. The cost was only a few hundred dollars more than what another contractor wanted to charge us for just a furnance. The installation was painless, quick, professional and then even cleaned up! Save yourself the trouble, and go with Sears in the very beginning!

The price that they offered was the best of several quotes that I received. The project manager did come in and survey the expected job.The crew arrived on time to complete the job. The on site project manager was fine, although there were a couple of issues. The initial estimate stated that the path of the rewiring could follow the original path as I had to get the heavier wiring. The on site manager did not think that he could accomplish that without significant alteration to the basement ceiling. Once the installation was complete the on site manager could not get the existing thermostat to work. I ultimately had to buy a new one.

I was called to schedule an appointment. During that call I clearly indicated that I was looking for a high velocity air condition system. The first appointment was scheduled at 8pm so I could get home from work in time. The estimator called to cancel and rescheduled for another day. He was late for the second appointment. When he arrived I explained that I was looking for high velocity AC and he tells me that Sears doesn't deal with that type. So the entire thing was a gigantic waste of my time which could have been handled during the initial call. They may do good work but they are poorly run from the start.

I hired Sears to do the work. The timeliness and communication did not go real well, the first appointment was pushed back a week and then again pushed back another week with no notification. The initial encounter with the sales rep was wonderful! The ultimate completion of the project is great.

Thy did an excellent job providing a dual zone system with no ducts or soffits visible. Very punctual. Took into account the neo victorian style of the house ensuring that the system was not visible

The installers were charming an professional.

Although first appointment did not showup, the salesman was very professional. Spend a lot of time discussing my needs. Recommended a large AC unit based of sq. footage of my house. Something that the other 4 companies did not do. The installers were very professional also. They arrived on time, went over what they were there to do and did not stop until they were finished. Then they explained what they had done how the system worked and how the thermostat worked. They did an excellent job.

I am not sure I would recommend Sears to others because they use other companies to do the work. I had to pay an electrician to come in because they could not get system to work without tripping the electrical circuit only to find out that something was installed improper in the new system.

He was excellent: Efficient, quick, cleaned up everything when he was through. Explained how the boiler worked. I was extremely pleased with his work. He was also very personable.

Sensa Air actually completed the work to install my air conditioner. Apparently, Sensa Air is a subcontractor for Sears. Sam and Melvin did an excellent job installing my new unit. I saved $900 by selecting Sensa Air versus Sears. They were quite friendly and knowledgeable of the needs for my home. I highly recommend Sensa Air.
