They were sloppy. I had to hire someone to redo their work.

Chris was great! I purchased a special deal through Angie's list for 8 hours of electrical work and had an extensive list of electrical
work for Chris to do (Installed: 6 new canned lights, and ran corresponding wiring, 2 dimmer switches, installed new circuit breaker to bring new microwave install up to current code and changed out 5 light fixtures).
Chris was quick, professional, and was knowledgeable of his trade and current codes. I would highly recommend Chris's services.
Overall its fairly good. I think there was only one little issue that I had. Its not new construction its remodeled construction. There is an external device that they had to bring from that service panel and they had to cut into my wall to install it. I think the only thing I thought at the time was that like anything else when you deal with wood or anything like that you kind of measure twice before you do something and I think he tended to eyeball it and then realized that afterwards he tried to make it work. I would have surmised that he would have taken a little more time to figure it would before he started cutting the wall. Its looks kind of not as professional looking as I would think it would be for not trying the wall. I was a little bit disappointed in that. Every thing else was as I thought was very good. I think they very professional in their conduct.

The workers did not present themselves as professionally as we would prefer, but overall we were happy with the work that was done.

The company finished the work. However, after the inspection the inspector said the main switch has to be a hundred amp and the ground wiring should be six gauge and not eight gauge. I have not been able to contact this company to have them make the corrections. I have seen other members report that the company is in the penalty box and their phone number is no longer in service.

I bought a Big Deal on June 3 for Secure Electric to install 4 recessed lights with a dimmer for $398. After the purchase, Secure Electric did contact me and told me they won't be able to do it until middle of July. We agreed on July 21. The date came and went and they never showed. I called, no answer and I left a message. I also emailed them. In both cases, no response.
I then contacted Angie's List regarding this. I was told that since it was over 3o days from the purchase date, I was not covered under the Angie's List guarantee. I explained that the service provider had scheduled me more than 45 days from purchase date, so there was no way for me to know they were not going to show up within the 3o day period. Angie's list said they will try to get the service provider to do the job, or will try to find another service provider to honor the original Big Deal. Well, it is now September, no success on either option.
So I am faced with 2 problem. The first being Secure Electric not honoring their commitment to do the job. And the second is that Angie's List is not backing up the Big Deal that they sold to me. Either case I am out $398 and no work has been or will be done. If Angie's List still will not doing something about this, I will be reporting them to as many authorities as possible, and also the small claims court.
.

The work to be done was hang a fan and install some outlets outside of the house. The first call he missed because of missing our address. We rescheduled and he came in and only completed one job the ceiling fan on June 23. He did a great job on that. We discussed the following work and scheduled another appointment. That second appointment was July 11. No one showed and we did not get a call to cancel. We attempted several calls and got no answers or returns from our messages. We have had no contact at all. Luckily none of the work was left incomplete. We just never got our 8 hours. He did supply the material which we were to pay for on the next visit which never happened. Happy with the work and very disappointed with service. Also lost two days of work because of this whole thing. Overall completely dissatisfied with service.

Started out good, but now I'm in a bad customer service limbo. Initially all went well. Tami the scheduler was polite, professional. The electricians were pretty much on time, friendly, professional, mindful of the cats. Work was completed efficiently. The City inspector came on 4/1/14 . The job failed inspection. I contacted Tami via email and then corresponded with Chris. Chris assured me that Secure Electric would remedy the situation for no extra cost. I explained to him that my work schedule would be tight for a while, that I would contact him to set up another appointment. No problem. At this point I was also interested in having the attic rewired.
Fast forward to August.:
Tami's phone number and email are both defunct. I had misplaced Chris' email, but a second number was not working. I contacted Angie's list, they supplied an email and phone number. The phone message box is full. I sent an email 7/23/14. Chris did respond, first to ask what corrections were required, then to say he'd stop by to say hi and look at what needed to be done. No time frame. I had proposed a job date of 8/7 or 8/8 (days I could get off work) but have heard nothing back from him. I understand that this is a busy time of year, that Secure Electric may be booked out, but why not get back to me and tell me? Am left feeling frustrated and disrespected, and have no idea when Chris is planning to drop by to look at the job. An otherwise satisfying experience has been tainted by very bad customer service. At this point I just want to get the corrections made, pass inspection and call it good. I'll find someone else to do the attic.

On June 5, 2014 I purchased a Big Deal for Secure Electric to install 4 can lights with dimmer in my home, which they are refusing to honor. Here is the history:

On 6/5/2014, I purchased the deal, based on good reviews on AngiesList.

On 6/13/2014, using the AngiesList messaging function, I scheduled the appointment for 7/18/2014 between 10:30 and 11:30.

One 7/17/2014 (a day ahead), I check reviews of Secure Electric and saw that they had recently been receiving D and F reviews. I had a bad feeling, but since I had already purchased the deal and scheduled an appointment, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I again used the AngiesList messaging function to confirm the appointment and got no response.

On 7/18/2014, Secure Electric was a no-show. I called a couple hours after the appointed time and left a voicemail asking if I they were going to show up. No reply.

On 8/5/2014, I used the AngiesList messaging function to send this email:

Hello, You were a no-show at our appointment and I have not had any responses left by voicemail. Please reply immediately and let me know if you will be able to fulfill the service I purchased, or if you will be refunding my money.

On 8/5/2014, I received this reply:

Sorry --We only check this account once a month and the voice mail you left only goes to our administrative assistant. Currently we are no longer honoring any Angie List Big Deals. Through our experience with them there business model or (Big Deal) benefits Angie list greater then there customers who buy them and puts the contractor in hardship so we refuse to be the middle man to feed there egos. Please feel free to call there customer service and ask for a refund that way they can pay you there commission they take out of that payment. Thanks

The scheduled appointment was 5 weeks out for installing a new track light, replacing 3 light fixtures with a newer one and replacing a burned out dawn to dusk fixture that controls my outside lights. If time allowed, Secure Electric was to look at what it would take to install two landscape lights and provide me with a bid for future work. Through emails, I asked Chris if he could come out before the actual work to make sure I had all the lighting components ready and that he would use an hour of the 8 hours for this. Chris agreed and we scheduled a day/time to meet and when this date arrived, Secure Electric was a No Show (they didn't even bother to call). When the actual work date arrived a few days later, his worker was supposed to show up between 10:00am - 11:00am and didn't show up until 1:30pm. I ended up simplifying the work by having the worker remove and replace 4 lights (originally was supposed to install a new track light and remove / replace 3 other lights). The worker did remove / replace two lights, but wasn't able to remove and replace the two other lights because the holes in the ceiling (old lights was an oil can) was 5.5" and the new pendant lights were only 4". The worker called Chris and Chris recommended he cut new holes in the ceiling for the pendant lights and leave the oil can lights alone. I was reluctant to do this as it would look like an unplanned after thought. My recommendation was to utilize a 6" adaptor plate that would cover the larger holes and accommodate the pendant lights. The worker agreed to come back to finish the job (he would get the adaptor plates --- I ended up getting them as I wasn't sure if he would remember). Afterwards, the worker fixed the "Dawn to Dusk" light with a new photo cell that was provided. The worker then spent some time looking at what's needed to install two landscape lights. He said that would provide the information to Chris and a bid would be provided. After the worker left, I was able to contact Chris and schedule a date for one of his experienced / journeymen electricians to come out to finish the jobs and provide me with a bid on the landscape lighting. Similar to the first date, Secure Electric was a NO SHOW (didn't even bother to contact me saying they wouldn't make it). Since this, Secure Electric has not responded to my emails. All said, I did get some work done but paid way more than what was accomplished. The Worker was a very nice guy. Interesting - I've had several electricians visit my house in the 16 years since we built it and their vehicle tells a lot about their company. Secure Electric's Van was very messy and unorganized on the inside (hard to find anything). This was my first experience using Angies and I was talked into it by my neighbor. I'm scheduling another electrician to finish the job.

The guys who showed up did a fine job installing our ceiling fan. I purchased an Angie's list deal, "An Electrician for a Day". I made myself available for the full day--but they did not show until after 3pm. I have mixed feelings because the guys worked hard and in the end they did a great job and I'm happy to have a fan, but I don't feel it was worth the money I paid. I probably could have just hired an electrician for two hours. Again, the guys work hard, but it didn't seem to be a "deal".
They came later than they said they'd come, on May 2nd.
They accidentally turned into the wrong address (off an alley) and damaged their van, so they had to cancel that first day and arrange for the van to be towed
They came back the following week and did the work
they warned me it was more than a day's work and I said okay. It took 2 days. So it cost the $399 coupon for 8 hours of electrical work, which meant 2 people for four hours, plus an additional day at about $900
They joked a lot which made it hard to tell if they were really professional electricians or not; I decided they were and they seemed to know what they were doing. The circuits were installed and seem to be okay.
They used a tenant's best towels to clean up which made her really upset, i.e. they did not bring a drop cloth or tarp or their own towels to clean up. She had to clean up after them and wash the towels and she was really incensed. They used what they found in the apartment, without asking if it was okay. They didn't ask me to find a towel either.
Their billing person called me the very next day and wanted immediate payment for the second day - this was before I heard from my tenant how unhappy she was that they used her towels to clean up.
so - the electrical work itself was fine, but the cleanup needed to be better.
Electrical was good, but they came very late, and then took a 2 plus hour lunch after only working 2 hours. They stayed late, but not everything was finished as expected in the time frame expected.
