"The project in question is two and a half years old as of this month (October 2015) Owner of Set In Stone stopped by to view the damage caused by the salt application after Customer contacted him. In her initial call to owner, She explained that after having broken her leg, her sympathetic neighbors spread salt on the concrete patio to melt ice in an effort to help her as she was incapacitated. Salt is a corrosive substance to concrete. Customer acknowledges in her review that this area was treated with salt. Runoff from snowmelt and from shoes can also cause corrosion even in areas not specifically treated with salt. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done once salt is applied, customers are told not to use salt for any reason on concrete as this voids any warranty. We do feel that the circumstances leading to Miss D's dissatisfaction, while being unfortunate, are not our fault. An Internet search will yield articles about the corrosive effects of salt and deicers on concrete. It's a shame when a homeowner blames the contractor for damage caused by improper maintenance procedures as this voids the warranty. We make it a point to tell the client 'do not use salt' on the concrete creation simply because these types of situations are preventable. We are sorry that Miss D's unhappy."
