The driveway was completely splotchy and five months later still is.

Shamrock did the removal and replacement of my driveway for me. His crews cleaned up after themselves and did quality work. I am very happy with their work.

Communication from start to finish was constant and timely. Dave and the crew were pleasant and informative. Project turned out awesome!

They had issues with the concrete delivery and two workers that got sick from the long day in the heat. One side of the driveway looked fine while other side got too hard and didn't turn out well. After discussing it with them they agreed to tear it out and replace it at no cost to us. Hard to find contractors like that that will step up to the plate and fix mistakes. They just finished replacing it and looks fantastic. We had hem do a swirl with picture frame which turned out very nice.

Finished product is good. During project, they tore off our lamp post top and left concrete splatters on siding and sidewalk. Workers were not overly friendly, was never introduced to project manager. Had 4 rows of stone pavers installed and these have all sunk after just one year. Owner was contacting paver layer to see what can be done.

Went very well.

Shamrock Concrete replaced our old (and beat up) asphalt driveway with a new and beautiful concrete driveway. This included regrading the slope of the driveway and putting in a drain to keep water away from the garage. From what I can tell, they did an excellent job!! Their crew was very polite and easy to work with. The management team was very responsive and helpful. The reason I gave them a "B" on punctuality was because it took them two months before they could get out and do the job which was apparently due to weather issues.

Overall, the project went great and I'm loving my new driveway. Scheduling had been tough with the amount of rain this summer, but once the project was scheduled it took only two days to complete. The entire project was roughly 900 sq ft. They hammered out the garage floor and old walkway making sure not to damage any of the drywall in the garage or existing landscaping. The gravel driveway was removed and scraped down to prepare for the new gravel base and concrete. The garage floor was poured the first day, but due to rain they had to wait another two days to pour the driveway and walkway. The crew was professional and easy to work with. I had them change the entire direction of the driveway, which included moving forms and stakes, and they did so without a fuss. They also replaced a drainage pipe that was damaged during excavation without any hassles. If any issues came up during the project they were explained to me thoroughly. When I did have to contact Shamrock my calls were returned promptly. I would recommend them for any concrete work. <br />

We couldn't be more pleased with the job Shamrock Concrete did for us. Our initial contact was with Josh, our project manager. Josh showed up on time for our appointment, answered all our questions, and gave great suggestions on our project. When the plan for the patio changed after our original consultation and bid, Josh was more than patient about discussing changes we wanted to make, giving additional advise, answering numerous questions, and rebidding the project to reflect the changes we wanted to make. His bid was competitive with several others we got from competitors and was very fair considering the scope of work done. Our particular job required working around drainage pipes, and we knew going in that there might be damage to the pipes when removing the old patio. (Unfortunately, you can't see through concrete.) We were assured that they would do their best to limit damage, repair any that did occur, and keep any additional costs to a minimum. When some damage did occur, they did exactly as promised and even managed to keep to the promised work schedule. Our crew was led by Will. Throughout the entire project, Will and every other member of the crew was punctual, polite, and professional. They took time to answer any questions we had and address any concerns. At the end of each day, Will made it a point to let us know they were leaving and tell us what to expect for the next day. They cleaned up after themselves, unlike some of our other workmen have done in the past. Best of all, they did a great job. Our neighbors are already commenting on how nice the new patio looks. <br />

It went very good. They were prompt, on time, and did what they said they were going to do. They communicated very well and the price was good.

I thought the quote was reasonable, but I was just not able to do the service at the time. I thought the person who came to give the quote was very knowledgeable and informative. It was very easy to schedule the company out for the quote.

It was very easy working with this company. From getting the estimate to the completion of the job. Dave was very helpful since I had a lot of questions and was unsure as to what I wanted to do at the time he came by to measure and give me the estimate. He priced everything out separately so I knew what each extra piece would cost. When the crew started their work, they were punctual and did a great job. They kept me informed as to what they were doing, answered any of my questions and didn't leave until everything looked perfect. I am very happy with my new expanded driveway and patio. The only issue I had was having to clean up the cigarette butts that were left in my yard. <br />

I've been an Angie's List member for several years and this is certainly the worst experience I've had with a company using the List. I've left 15 Angie's List reviews for companies performing work - mostly A's with a few B's. I've never had to write a review for anything less than a "B" for a company performing work...until now. The work was completed by Shamrock in June 2013, but I waited until a BBB complaint process ended in Feb 2014 to begin working on submitting this review. First, let me say the Shamrock employees came across as professional during the sales process and the work performed. But, that's where the "positives" end for me...Let me highlight SOME of the issues: <br /> 1) According to homeowner measurements, the <strong>pad was poured with a slope that was over three times </strong>what was discussed with the Shamrock salesperson; provided in the basketball tile company specs and shared with Shamrock; and written in the contract. Shamrock will contest this, but I'll expand further below. <br /> 2) <strong> According to homeowner measurements, over 60% of the slope occurs in the last 8ft of the slab</strong>, so the slope is not gradual at all which makes it very noticeable. If you're going to put a slope on something, even if it's the wrong slope, I would think you'd want it gradual and an equal % of slope across the entire length of the surface. <br /> 3) The pad is not "square" meaning the opposing sides are not equal - it is <strong>"out-of'-square" by 4" </strong>according to homeowner measurements. Not a big deal for a driveway perhaps. But the application of the tiles relied on a "square" pad. So, the initial time the entire tile court was placed down, the tiles went off the pad because the court was not square. The entire court had to be removed and replaced to account for the "non-square" court. The removal and replacement of the tiles took over 12 manhours. The tile company charges $1,995 to install the tiles one time. According to the BBB, Shamrock said, "of course it's not square, a basketball court is supposed to be a rectangle." So, to be clear, I'm not talking about a square shape, but rather opposing sides being equal in a rectangle such that if you measure diagonally, both measurements are equal. <br /> 4) Shamrock did not remove all of the sod (organic material) before putting down the sub-base gravel. They <strong>poured gravel directly on the sod grass</strong> which goes against most reputable concrete company suggestions found online and a homeowner conversation with a civil engineer of removing "all organic material" before applying sub-base. <br /> 5) Shamrock did not use a minimum of 4" gravel sub-base as outlined in the tile company specs. In fact, Shamrock used less than 1" of gravel in one corner and <strong>poured the concrete DIRECTLY ON DIRT</strong> in the Southwest corner of the pad. This part of the pad also happens to be below grade so water collects in the very corner where there is no gravel base. <br /> 6) The Homeowner paid $400 extra for wire mesh to be incorporated in the pad. According to best practices, the wire mesh should be placed on 'legs" to ensure the mesh is in the middle of the pad, not on the bottom OR the mesh should be pulled up manually while the pad is being poured. Shamrock admitted "legs' were not used, nor did they pull the mesh up into the pad. They stated the natural "curl" of the mesh would be sufficient. <br /> 7) Shamrock <strong>punctured the main irrigation line for the sprinkler system</strong> with rebar when setting up the forms - despite the fact the homeowner dug up the irrigation line on both sides of the pad to clearly show Shamrock where the irrigation line ran. The homeowner had to by materials and spent several hours fixing the hole in the irrigation line. <br /> 8) Shamrock completed the pad in two pours. Unfortunately, the two pads connect in the middle of the court and <strong>most of the "seam" is uneven by 1/4-3/4"</strong> according to homeowner measurements. The result is the tiles are uneven and noticeable during play. <br /> 9) Shamrock attempted to use a "skim coat," to even the seam where the two pads meet on two occasions. Both times, they required the homeowner to remove the basketball tiles; they applied a skim coat; the homeowner had to wait for a day; and then the homeowner had to replace the basketball tiles. This process took 1.5-2 hrs of the homeowner's time each attempt. Shamrock claims the homeowner "approved" the corrections. In reality, it was not possible to approve the corrections until the tiles could be put back in place (the next day) and actually walk/play on the tile court and Shamrock never followed-up to check and see if the "correction" was good/approved or not after the attempted corrections. <br /> 10) In addition, Shamrock's <strong>"skim coat" fix for the pad seam crumbled to pieces within a few months</strong> making the issue worse than it was previous to their "fix" attempts. Shamrock claimed to the BBB that they visited the court and found no issues with the concrete. Of course, pictures tell a different story and Shamrock would have had to remove the plastic tiles to see any of the crumbling seam which they never requested to do. <br /> 11) Prior to contract signature, the Shamrock salesperson said the project would begin "within two to two and half weeks." The homeowner decided to go with Shamrock vs. a competitor based on this statement. Shamrock <strong>did not start the project until 5 weeks later.</strong> Once the date was finally established, Shamrock called the day prior and said they had to move the project out another day. The morning of the "revised" project date, Shamrock called again and said they wouldn't be showing up until 3 hours later than promised. The foreman didn't show up until 2 or 3 hours after his workers. <br /> 12) The Shamrock salesperson stated there would be little damage to the yard because they would use ground mats and a small bobcat and buggy to do the work. The salesperson stated the homeowner may just have to seed a little around the perimeter of the pad. In reality, the ground mats "burned" the grass, killing it in places and rather than using a sod cutter to remove the grass, Shamrock used a bobcat to attempt to "cut" the grass to build the forms for the concrete pad. This resulted in huge chunks of dirt and sod being pulled up well past the area for the forms. Shamrock also left the ground mats laying on the ground in the hot sun after they left the project area the first day leaving the mats to "cook" the grass in the late afternoon sun. The lawn damage was far beyond the expecations set by the salesperson. The <strong>homeowner had to spend hundreds of dollars for new sod AND 16-20 manhours</strong> fixing the damage Shamrock did to the yard. <br /> 13) The <strong>pier for the basketball goal was positioned incorrectly</strong> based on the instructions the homeowner provided to the salesperson and subsequently reviewed both verbally and in writing with the foreman the day the project began. The result is the basketball goal rim is not positioned correctly in relation to the pre-painted lines on the court tiles. <br /> Out of the 13 bullet points listed, a portion of Shamrock's reply will likely focus on the slope issue. Shamrock's owner will claim a 1/4% slope equates to 8" in drop over 30'9". I'm not a civil engineer and I certainly didn't make up the desired "less than 1" slope equates to 1/4% slope over 30' 9". The 1/4% slope equating to less than 1" of slope on the court came from two sources: Shamrocks own salesperson who I discussed the slope with at length and the basketball tile company's written specs which I shared with Shamrock. I had drawn up plans with elevations and provided plans as well as a survey map to Shamrock as basis for bid. Bid went to 2 other contractors as well. Eliminated one bid as he never got back to us with final bid due to problems with sub contractor for concrete. Went with Shamrock based on our review and pricing and Angie's List. The work was done in a timely fashion and in a professional manner even with all the rain we experienced during this time frame., My only problem was the changes made during construction was dealt with by the construction crew and I was led to believe they were minor in nature and would not incur any additional costs. Although Shamrock salesman told me the construction crew gave me pricing they never did. They wanted another $600 for the extension of the drainage pipe from the downspout as well as two short retaining walls on both sides of steps. The construction crew put down plywood on the grass to avoid damage to the lawn while moving materials from the front to the back but there was quite a bit of damage done to our yard as well as some to the neighbors. Shamrock agreed to seed and throw down some top soil but it did little to help. We ended up buying additional seed, top soil and straw to try and recover from the damage. This helped but there are still signs of the damage. We eventually resolved our differences with Shamrock by asking them to provide additional river rock where they neglected to fill in in a couple locations. As far as the damage to the lawn The salesman stated that it is spelled out in the contract on the back side that incidental damage to the lawn is not covered. I checked contract and our back side of contract was blank. They may have made a copy and didn't copy back side. All in all we are satisfied with the end result and would consider using Shamrock again, although I would take more time to examine contract and make sure of pricing for any changes. We do have a slight crack in concrete but it is minimal and not much of a concern. <br />

Weather permitting, Shamrock showed up every single day that this project took -- on time and with materials as described. Every single one of the workers were polite, professional and hard-working. I would recommend this company for any concrete work -- in terms of cost, work ethics and professionalism.

<p>I had my fairly long driveway replaced as it was cracked and crumbling. What I really liked is the estimate I received included everything. The estimate included backfilling the sides of the driveway after it was done and a choice of sealant (spray or roll-on). We had a small problem with the price after the work was done but Ryan worked with me and the problem was resolved to my satisfaction. That is the only reason I gave them a "B" rating on the price. They arrived on time and finished the job in 2 days. My driveway is beautiful! </p> <p>Now it is April 2014I have several areas where the concrete is popping off leaving craters al over it, some are large, where the seams are they are places that are cracking and crumbling off, my sidewalk cracked not long after being poured and Shamrock is not taking any responsibility for their work. Their stand is "bad weather, that I live on a court and the city aggressively throws salt there, and chert rock" has caused all this. I took care to keep salt off my driveway. So I am now stuck with a driveway that will soon look like my old one. Beware, I would definitely not recommend this company!!!!<br /> <br /> </p>
