Studio Prime Painting

First there was the attempt to upcharge. Vanessa, project manager, stopped in & said there was more furniture present than during the initial estimate so that the painters would not be able to spray, & there would be a $200 additional charge. The painting consisted of walls only, 2 main colors & 2 different accent areas. No ceilings, baseboard or trim painting. And there’s a wood floor. Who would spray in that situation? Even the painters (Bernardo & his father) said they had no intention of spraying from the beginning. I complained, refused to pay & they relented. Then there was the job itself. The website advertises they tape & caulk to get perfectly straight lines. They do tape. They don’t caulk. See pics below showing the above, plus: Corners at the junction of 2 paint colors - the original was not covered. They fill holes with caulk, not spackle or drywall repair. They also advertise they have a 7 year warranty. I was away from the condo for a few weeks while involved in selling my house, & when I returned and inspected the results, I called Vanessa to arrange for touchup. Called twice, left voicemails that were never returned. I then called Scott Tager, senior project manager, & explained the situation. He replied that Vanessa was on maternity leave. The question, “Ok, whose answering her phone?” was answered with stammering & finally he said another manager, Morgan Jensen, executive assistant, would be in contact. She called, arranged for the painters to return. Two subsequent appointments were no-shows. I had given up when I received a call from Brittany who said they “wanted to make this right.” One more no show appointment, then the original painters showed up, fixed some of the problems, then left for Home Depot to buy some of the original trim & ceiling paint to fix the remaining. I had provided them with pictures of the original cans; Brittany called back saying the original paint was no longer available, & asked what I thought they should do. The professionals asking me how to solve the problem. It took me about a minute to find the exact same paint, same manufacturer, same product line, same sheens available for purchase less than 5 miles from my condo. The painters insisted that they needed the original trim/ceiling paint cans to “match” despite having all the info on the labels in the picture. Reluctantly, I relented. Two more no-show appointments, several unanswered texts/calls, & now I’m left with hiring someone to fix the problems left by these “painters.” And they won’t even return my original trim/ceiling paint.

The painters arrived when scheduled and worked efficiently. They were friendly and made sure the colors being used were the ones I selected and the placement of the colors were correct before they actually started painting. I am very satisfied with the results.

Job was done on time, but paint starting peeling off the house within days. They came back out and fixed it, but now paint is peeling off again in other places. Will have to have them come out again and fix it. Not happy with the situation!!!

I originally wrote a review dated September 13, 2018 and wanted to update that review. Shift Painting contacted us and agreed to fix the issue with my mom's house. The house looks great and their willingness to make it right, regardless of fault, went above and beyond. We appreciate the professionalism of those who came out to repair the stucco, and the owner of Shift was extremely helpful. My mom is happy which in turn makes me happy. :)
