Shower Door Guru - Michael James installations

I was provided a verbal quote for 2 bathroom remodels. He was initially very responsive and seemed to know his stuff. He discussed an upgrade on the shower door handles for $60. He said that others charge a lot more for them and they are a nice upgrade. I agreed to them on his initial visit. With the positive reviews I felt I made the right choice. I called approximately 5 weeks later for the final measurement on the first bathroom. He did not show up or call on the day of the appointment. I left a few messages and was contacted later the following day to reschedule. Upon measuring I was given the pricing for the one bathroom which was now $500 more than the quote I received for both doors combined. My first mistake was not getting a written quote from his initial visit. After I voiced my concerns it became clear that he didn’t recall the details of our first meeting but he did put the pricing to the original quote given. My contractor had a shower door installer that came in over $300 less but because I had told him that the business was his I felt I should keep my word. He also seemed very proud of his work which matters to me. He then placed the order for the glass and said they would receive it early the following week so we scheduled for the following Saturday to install. No show. No call. He responded to my voicemail with a text message saying the glass wouldn’t arrive until the Monday and he would call me as soon as it arrived. Tuesday afternoon I hear from him that it’s in. We set up the install. They were 2 hours late arriving making my husband late for work. The shower door does look nice however the wrong handle was installed. He told me that he would get it on order and would take care of the replacement within 2 weeks. I contacted him the following week to let him know that the second bathroom would be ready. He says he will check his schedule and get back to me. I contact him again a few days later to see if he checked his schedule and the status of the handle. He sets up a time and says the handle would be in early the following week. I stated that I hoped he order 2 since the second bathroom was well under way. He says that he will charge me an additional $115 for the guest bathroom handle and it wasn’t included in the quote. Still my fault for not getting a written quote. He texts me a few hours later that he’s taking me off of his schedule for the guest bathroom. I’m absolutely floored. At this stage I’m done with the time wasting and runaround. I confirm that I would not be doing the second shower with him. He apologized for the confusion and he would get me the correct handle. He didn’t lose the business over $115. All correspondence have remained cordial and I never voiced my opinion of the service given. We are nearing 3 months and no handle for the door he did do. He stopped responding to messages. I don’t feel that there was any awareness to the big picture runaround I was receiving or all of the excuses and inconsistencies...well that is up until the complete non responsiveness.
