I purchased an Insinkerator Evolution Essential XTR garbage disposal from Amazon for $299 and purchased the installation for $110. When the service provider from SJ & Sons arrived, he recommended I return the item claiming a cost savings with a better unit for $400 including installation. In addition, he informed me that when I order from Amazon, I would not get adequate warranty service but I would with his product purchased from Ferguson. Consequently, we rescheduled to have him return with the new unit. Upon his return, he informed me he was installing a commercial use product with a 15 year warranty. Upon completion and time for payment, he asked what he had quoted me and I stated $400. He replied, “oh that’s below my book but OK”. To be fair, I said I didn’t mind paying a little more if I got a superior product and we agreed on $435. The next day I decided to research the Insinkerator Badger 900 that he installed. I discovered it was not a superior product, not commercial grade, didn’t have a 15 year warranty and the average cost is $160 (based on 9 listed prices found on the internet). I then called Ferguson only to learn they do not sell this unit and informed me it was a Lowes/Home Depot product. In addition, Ferguson stated they are not aware of ANY garbage disposals that provide a 15 year warranty. I called SJ & Sons to relay my concerns and was told that I received a good product. I asked for justification for paying him $335 for a product that sold for $160 to which the reply was they do not give out company information. Their justification for this issue then turned into “I was paying for their service”. This company charges $100/hour and they were at my house for 1 hour and was paid $110. He then tried to tell me he was at my house for 2 hours, stating he did not leave until 7:00pm, however, I received an email with receipt for payment that was sent at 5:56pm. Yet another fabrication. I stated I would put my concerns out for the public to see so they could understand their deceptive practices and I was told “there is a nice little law I can utilize called slander. “ Bottom line: Paid: $435 Product cost: $160 1 hour of labor: $100 Overcharge: $165

Atrocious. The plumber yelled at me multiple times and messed up my toilet and offered no reasonable solution. His quoted prices were also absolutely ridiculous. He just uses the special to get in the door and rip you off.

John Chisholm and his assistant did a rapid and very good replacement of a body shower in our large shower area. Contractor had to open a hole behind the shower in my wife's closet, close it up after re;\placing the body shower (single spray), and paint the new part. Chisholm also gave me an estimate on putting up a wall for an open-office, with various additions (but did not include a critical component I had mentioned), that was too pricey, so we did not hire the team for that work.

BEWARE- Do Not Hire. RUN!! A week after the job was complete the tiles on the shower floor started coming up. This job was way beyond this providers competency level. John should never have attempted this job, only in it for the $. He did not use the right grout and did not incorporate the shower pan in the shower's waterproofing system. Horrible experience overall, I had to pay $8,000 more to have somebody else fix what this idiot messed up.

Well - John was very friendly and knowledgeable, and made sure to explain and show me every step of the process. He was careful to clean up and to take steps beforehand to prevent dust, debris, and footprints.

They didn't have parts and said they would order them. They made an error ordering one part and had to order it again. I had to keep after them to obtain the parts and arrange follow up installation. They finally installed after waiting months but now all of the handles need to be held down for the toilets to flush, one toilet doesn't work at all--will not flush. John, the plumber, was congenial but the degree of his unfriendliness was somewhat uncomfortable--a real smooth talker. It would have been tolerable had any of the work been done properly. Rather than call him back, at this point we're done with him and this company; we haven't bothered calling him back to get the job right due to a complete lack of confidence in his work.

It turned out that nothing was wrong with the valve, and no internal parts needed replacing. However, he noticed that the toilet was rocking, meaning that the seal underneath the toilet was damaged, and I actually was about to get into trouble with leakage in the not so near future. So he removed the toilet, and replaced the seal, and also replaced the crummy discolored yellow handle with a metal one. I paid $77.00 for a plumbing inspection of all fixtures around the house. When he saw my kitchen, he said "I think I've been in your house before." It turned L that he had replaced and upgraded my kitchen sink faucet, under another Angie's list Big Deal with a previous employer. He did a beautiful job, (see photo). Outside, he found the ridiculous attachment of one of my outdoor spigots (see photo), which had exploded twice during deep freezes. I had previous suggestions to shorten it and weld the faucet back on, or, "You can't do anything about it." He proposed to definitively fix and weatherize it for $498, including materials and visit, and will do this at some point in the future. I paid $39.00 for the visit, $223 for the toilet repair, $77.00 for the plumbing inspection, -$50.00 with the Angie's list Big Deal. So the final total was $289, which I thought was reasonable.

Worst service experience of my life. I paid for a deal for $99 for 2 hours of service. This plumber was hostile towards me very soon after he entered the door. I first asked about replacing some shut off valves. He gets out this huge book and tells me it will be $148 to replace one valve. I scoff a bit at this and say well I have something else because that sounds high to me. I would like a toilet assembly replaced. You would assume, plumbing 101. I show him two kits and he says he has all he needs to do the replacement. great. around 30 minutes later he says he can't install it. Apparently my toilet will not accept a universal kit. So he asks what I want to do. I ask how much will it be and he can't say anything, gotta check the book. You would think replacing a toilet assembly would be common enough to at lease quote a price, but nope. I ask if perhaps "the company" he keeps deferring to could perhaps comp the repair since he said he could do the replacement and did not. He got very agitated with the question and instead of answering it said things like "You paid for 2 hours of service on angie's list! I have a family to feed! I get paid $35 an hour!". "The company needs to make money!" I express disappointment that he said it would work and he that he failed to install the new one. He blew up at me, yelling in a very high voice saying "I don't fail!". "I Don't need this" "after 7 years in the marine corp!" in a very hostile loud voice. All the while I tried my best to keep calm and keep a low voice while he was screaming at me. I couldn't take any more and asked him to please leave and he did. It is hard to express how terrible this plumber was. He was literally screaming at me on multiple occasions. He was unprofessional at every turn. Anything I said he took as a direct insult. Even when I explained I was not insulting him when he was quoting high prices, I was simply expressing what I thought about "the company's" prices. But he wouldn't have it and kept yelling and being ridiculous. I reported what happened to the office lady who scheduled my appointment. She said she was sorry for what happened and offered to provide the service of replacing the assembly once I had the correct part. She didn't say anything about perhaps making this right and providing that service for free which is the least they could have done after that atrocious experience. To top it off she couldn't even give a quote for what it would cost if I did want them to replace it (using a different tech obviously) because the plumber has that book and she doesn't know prices. This is a bad way to do business and this plumber was the absolute worst professional I have ever encountered. So in the end i paid $99 to render a toilet unusable and waste an assembly kit and deal with a hostile attitude for almost an hour. Easiest Fs I will ever give. Beware.

My technician and the other technician explained to me what happened after you told me your side. He explained to you several times why we don't warranty customer supplied parts and as a licensed contractor we can not guarantee parts that we don't get. his frustration came from you calling him a failure after he attempted several times to fix your toilet with parts the manufacturer told him will NOT work. At no point did my technician yell or cuss at you until your came back in the bathroom to keep insulting him, then he started getting heavy voiced about the situation like any person would tring to fix your problem. I can understand your frustration about the toilet but it is our company's policy to install ONLY parts that will work with the product and NOT universal parts. After he explained that to you several times, i was told you did not want to hear that from both of our Techs, there is nothing more we can do. Again we are sorry you feel that way and we hope your find a solution to your problem"

It went fine. They waited for me to run to Lowe's to get my new kitchen faucet. I hired them to do additional tile work in the kitchen.

He was very good fixing the inside of the toilet. He was unable to repair the handle. I did end up spending a little bit more than I wanted to. The guy was very polite, and good at what he did though. The handle is not sticking as bad now.

Thought they would have a outdoor faucet in the truck but they had to go to the store to purchase one. Other than that, it was a good experience.

It went very well.....I had them replace the kitchen faucet as well as a bathroom faucet that I knew was on its way out. They purchased both and installed both in a very short time. I was very happy with,the workmanship and speed in which jobs were done.

Painter failed to answer messages. Was due at 9am. Arrived at 1:45 PM. Rushed job, did not tape/cover carpet at baseboards resulting in painted CARPET! Failed to cover my Pennsylvania House dresser ( as SPECIFIED IN THE CONTRACT) resulting in pain speckles on my CHERRY DRESSER. Painters left actual SPOTS of pain on my carpeting. I am aghast!

he adjusted the water flow on my shower head in an attempt to get more pressure, but when that did not work out and I could not continue using it, he replaced it. So I was very satisfied.
