Honestly I can't speak highly enough of Will and his professionalism. He gets to work right away and when he tells you he will be there he is there ( anyone that has any work done can tell you how rare and important just that is ) and not only that he knocks it out of the park. He is like contractor terminator. Honestly, I have no problem recommending him to anyone I can, family, friends or strangers. You aren't going to do better. I can truly say if you don't at least just give him a call, you are really doing yourself a disservice.

I put my old Victorian house on the market this summer, and it sold in two days!. I must give credit to S.L. Contractors and wonderful job they did remodeling my house. I got their name from Angie’s List four years ago. My first project was the painting of all the exterior windows. I have three floors. They even repainted the rusty grills at my basement windows. That wasn’t a big job, because the jobs kept getting bigger. Then I had my old pantry converted into a powder room. My next project was the biggest one - removing all the knob and tube wiring and then replacing the plaster with drywall and finally adding can lighting. What I love the most is my new kitchen. The kitchen sold the house! It was exactly what I wanted. Mr. Washington, general contractor, over the years has been a source of information about quality construction. He was kind of a design consultant for the remodel job for the kitchen. When discussing the size of the island, he said “No one ever says the island is too big.” He worked with me and was flexible as I selected decorative touches from retail stores and online. My kitchen was a challenge. It had pine wood paneling and the layout didn’t work. Mr. Washington changed the appliance layout. I needed my hallway tiles to match my kitchen floor. Mr. Washington searched and found tiles in Texas that matched perfectly. I had a positive experience with S.L. Contractors.

This was the second time we hired Willis. He did such a nice job on our kitchen three years ago, so we did not hesitate to hire him again. The job is done and we are very pleased with the results. We started with just a shower. We wanted to make it bigger and use the extra space we had. But we ended up remodeling the entire bathroom: bathtub, new sinks, painting. Willis was very patient with us and as always offered very nice ideas. It felt like he knew better than we did what we wanted our bathroom to look like. What was really nice is that he and his crew always cleaned up after they finish their work. This was very important to us as we have kids and they are all over the place. Given all the circumstances, the remodeling took much longer than we expected it to be, but we were willing to wait. It takes time to do the job properly.

Great! I love my new kitchen! We talked a lot about the plans before the work was started. I felt like I had a lot of input in the design and finishes. Mr. Washington actually ordered flooring from Texas to match our existing flooring. Willis Washington and his team were very thorough and showed expertise in every level of the work. There were other items Mr. Washington recommended to enhance the appearance of our new kitchen. He suggested refinishing the radiator and replacing the back door. My kitchen looks like it came straight out of a designer showroom. My family is so happy with the new layout and the usefulness of our beautiful quartz topped island. We were surprised to be able to fit four chairs around it. It this time of social distancing and staying at home, I’m even happier with my new kitchen.

I debated writing this review for a while. I hired SL Contractors based on the reviews and meeting Willis. I wish the ending had a better story but feel I need to share my experience so others may be warned. I’ll start with the positive. Willis genuinely seems like a nice person and the floors came out beautiful. Now for the not so positive. Willis was consistently late. Every appointment he showed up late, this should have raised a red flag for me but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. My project was way behind schedule and over budget. He originally told me 1 ½ weeks. I had told him I needed to go out of town for business on 3 separate dates and we built those days into the scope of work from the start. I ended up cancelling 2 of the 3 trips to give him extra time. He still went past the agreed date by an additional week and half. He worked alone for the majority of the project and would show up on most days between 11-1 leaving around 5. Half way through the project he gave me a slip for additional work/materials. None of which we discussed prior or I had any idea was coming. I sent him an email saying I was concerned and needed to ensure no more surprises and we had to stay on budget. He said the additional materials was because I had selected a more expensive granite for the countertops. I was a bit confused as I had told him from the very start what granite I wanted and we met at the granite yard to select the slab (he was almost 2 hours late for the appointment). The granite was scheduled for a Friday when I was going to be out of town for the last trip which I absolutely could not cancel but I changed my flight and came home the night prior to accommodate. However, he ordered the wrong sink and had to reschedule the granite install which I found out during the trip so I changed my flight for nothing. He told me he scheduled the install for the following Friday. The Tuesday night prior to the Friday new install date I told him I had an early appointment Wednesday I could not miss and he needed to be here because additional hardwood was being delivered, he had estimated incorrect square footage and I had to order more (which he agreed to pay half for the additional materials). He said he would be here. As I was walking out the door for the appointment the granite installers were just about to knock on the door. No sign of Willis. They said the install was scheduled for Wednesday not Friday. I called Willis and he said he was on his way and would be there in 45 min. He showed up about 1 ½ hrs later and the installers had left. He did have them come back in the afternoon. However, when they arrived they showed me the invoice to show me the install date. The invoice was for about half what was in the proposal with the contract but the square footage was more. Willis had calculated the square footage incorrectly for the granite as well as the flooring. At the end of the project he had more additional charges. I pointed out the difference in granite price which with the additional he was trying to charge me was well over double. I understand a mark up so he can cover his costs and for his time organizing however over double is not fair. He tried to say he had to demo the old countertops but again I pointed out that was already a line item. He also tried to charge me for a faucet but I had went out and bought the faucets for the powder room and kitchen myself. We discussed and I thought we came up with a fair agreement where we split the additional costs and we both felt comfortable, I still feel his miscalculations should not be put on me but I didn’t want to be unreasonable. Again, he was way over the contracted date of completion and still over our agreed upon cost. He told me he would call for the dumpster pick up and it would be removed within 3 days. After 4 days I texted him letting him know it wasn’t picked up and that once I had a painter I would send him pictures of the before/after. He responded with “ok”. I sent another text the next day asking for the number of the company for the dumpster as it wasn’t picked up and got no response. I waited 2 days and then sent a text again, no response. I called him and got voicemail. I then got a call from someone saying Willis was not authorized to deduct the amount we had agreed upon and therefore they cancelled the dumpster pick up and I would need to take care of it myself, both cost and scheduling. She wouldn’t give me a number or even the name of the company. She said Willis had given me a discount already. However the discount did not come close to the additional charges for his miscalculations. She also mentioned he didn’t charge me for the additional labor. I explained we had a contracted end date so the additional time was not my fault and he miscalculated that too. There were some additional line items I did agree to pay because again, I wanted to be fair. For example, he added costs for putting the baseboards back on and rehanging closet doors which I thought should be included but let that go as it was not specified in the agreement so I felt that was on me, there were a few other little things I just said okay on. I looked up online the dumpster pickup and called them. I found out that he had over filled the dumpster bags and I would need to order another bag and remove the overflow myself. This was the final straw for me. I was not going to write a review at all and let it go but I feel others should be informed when making the decision to hire Willis. Again, his work seems great but I question a contractor that miscalculates measurements at every turn and tries to over charge for his mistakes. Also to not even tell me they were canceling the dumpster (which was a line item in our agreement) was just outright dishonest and unfair. Now I am concerned that if anything goes wrong with the flooring he won’t make it right. It is disappointing to end the project with doubt and mistrust.

Willis Washington of SL Contractors is a skilled craftsman. His finished Work is excellent and he pays attention to every detail. He is very intuitive and anticipates most any situation, and he can figure out a solution to anything. He takes real pride in his work and his efforts show. His abilities are many: cabinet installation, counter tops, hardwood and tile flooring, electrical and lighting, painting, trim. We couldn't be happier with our kitchen remodel. We would hire SL Contractors again to also do our bathrooms. I highly recommend SL Contractors.

SL Contractors was one of the companies who we contacted when we bought a house and decided to remodel the kitchen (which was as old as the house, about 100 years old). We chose Willis because he was full of good ideas and suggestions, and we felt very confident hiring him and his team. The renovation took a bit longer than we expected, but we didn't want to rush seeing how professionally and diligently the job was done. Now we have a beautiful kitchen, a new gorgeous fireplace (that changed the look of our living room), a laundry on the second floor, and a freshly painted house. It looks like new now. Willis also helped us with many smaller things and we are very grateful for that! We will definitely contact him again if we plan another big project.

I got a couple bids and they had the best. They did an excellent job, so I will keep them as my family contractor. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. They were very professional, neat, clean and kept everything straightened up for when my kids were coming and going to school.

Willis and his crew were very professional, clean, and completed all work that was contracted. They handled every issue/problem that arose with ease. It went quite longer than anticipated (as these projects tend to do.) But Willis went above and beyond and performed lots of extra work that wasn't originally quoted. He's a perfectionist and he takes his time and gets everything done the right way. Also after the project was finished and paid in full, there were some issues that arose weeks afterward and he remained in contact and came out to fix everything outside of the contracted time.

Roof took 9 weeks instead of 3. Rough-in work not complete. Complained that he could not retain a full crew, and would go weeks without visiting the worksite. Eventually lost his HVAC tech and did not bother to show up to complete the project. New contractors described SL Contractors work as unacceptable and would not pass inspection for multiple code violations.

I am very happy with the work I had done. I have an historic home, with radiators and irregular measurements. The workmen are true craftsmen, providing exceptional attention to details. They were able to match wood color and molding style and the addition blended so well with the original work. I felt confident that all work was done to high standards. They kept us informed when additional work was required as often happens with an older home. They were responsive to our needs, working overtime (no additional charge) to make sure the work was done in time for the holidays. My 7 year old granddaughter said that we now have a "Royal Bathroom".

Willis and his team were extremely professional and responsive. The work was great quality. They were neat and kept the area clean every day after they finished. They were very respectful with the rest of the house and carefully taped off the areas that they were working in so as not to spread dust to the living areas. Willis was very easy to work with and responsive to all our requests.

Mr. Washington and his crew worked tirelessly to improve the look and value of our home. Many neighbors commented on how great the house looked. They also went beyond the work contracted by removing tired old grates from the basement windows, scraping and painting them a cool flat black. SL Contractors treated our home as if it were special, covering window glass, walls and making sure everything was cleaned up at the end of each day.

Will did an excellent job with our bathroom. It looks fantastic and was a much needed improvement from the original bathroom we had previously. Ceramic tile surround, ceramic floor and all finished work were top notch and we would highly recommend him and use him again for any future upgrades, remodels and improvements needed in our home! Highly recommended!

SL Contractors renovated my kitchen. They did an excellent job for a fair price. They were able to do the whole job without having to have any sub contractors or other companies come to my home. They install all the cabinets, counter tops, plumbing and flooring. They also built a custom island and opened the wall that separated the living room and kitchen. The whole area looks so much bigger and open. They worked evenings to keep the job on schedule. The staff was very friendly, professional and clean. My wife and I love it. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs work done on their home.

Will and his team did an excellant job. We are very happy with the final results. The job was intensive with a complete remodel of the 2nd floor bathroom which involved tearing everything out down to the studs including the pipes which were set in a concrete floor that also needed removal. The old bathroom had a tile floor and the walls were also patially tiled adding to the work needed to demo it. Also had to run a new stack to the basement and repair some water damage in the entrance way and living room. Everything in the bathroom is now new and it looks great. During the remodel my old fuse box crapped out and Will was able to replace it with a new load center. Will and his team were very professional and friendly and I would welcome them in my home anytime and I will him first on any work I need done in the future.

The crew at SL Contractors are very good craftsmen. They did an excellent job on my bathroom. They completely remodeled my bathroom and the price was a good deal. They installed all high end fixtures and granite perfectly. They also changed our tub-shower combination to a separate walk-in shower and tub. My wife and I are very pleased with their service and would recommend them for any home improvement needs you may have.

I was very pleased with the work SL Contractors performed at my home. They completely remodeled my Kitchen and Bathroom. They were running a special on Kitchens and Bathrooms, 25% off if I had them both done at the same time. So I took advantage of the savings, which was a considerable amount. I was not really sure how I wanted my kitchen to look. They had a designer go over many options as far as products, materials and floor plans. The designer drew a complete interactive blueprint just like on HGTV. Complete with colors, cabinets, flooring, window treatment, the whole complete kitchen. I was able to really get a good idea of what my finished kitchen would look like. They completed the job on time just as it looked in the blueprint. They took great care not damage or dirty the rest of my home.

?My adorable bathroom?. The completed job is breathtaking. They removed a wall to enlarge the room, to change my three piece bathroom to a four piece. We had no tub. They installed a walk-in shower with tile surround and floor to ceiling custom glass doors. They also installed a soaker tub. They included all the plumbing and electrical work too. I feel that the price that I was charged is more than fair for the amount of work they had to do to give me the beautiful kitchen and bathroom.
