Smalling Masonry is a small Family owned business. We are primarily a chimney restoration and Fireplace installer company. Once we complete your project, we will meet with you to walk through the project, answer any questions, make sure that you are satisfied with the quality of craftsmanship. Our team is certified by mulitple industry agencies including the CSIA, NFI, NCSG, and F.I.R.E. As of the time updating this, we are the only company in the state of Indiana that offers the Dept of Labor approve Chimney Technician Journman Apprenticeship program. All the guys always showed up on time, were very personable, efficient, knowledgeable, and always cleaned up after the days work was done. Caleb, Thomas, Quint, and Jaylan were all very nice and hard working gentlemen. They completed the work in 5 days and did an excellent job. We highly recommend this company!!

I called Smalling Masonry on Monday, looking to get my chimney swept and inspected for the year. The office staff was polite and friendly, and was able to set me up for that Thursday. They came out to the house on time and did a fantastic job. They laid down blankets because it was raining, as to not track in any dirt, and went right to work. Will certainly use them again in the future.

My chimney was leaking rain into the house around the fireplace. Gary Smalling took care in assessing the problem, even going up into the attic above the fireplace to assess the damage. He and his crew built a new crown for the chimney, replaced bad bricks, filled in mortar and sealed the entire chimney. I had several concerns and he resolved them completely. Gary has a tremendous customer service attitude. I heartily recommend him without reservations. He is a real professional.

Amazing experience. We cannot say enough about this company. Gary, Storm and his team did an excellent job. In a time when finding reliable, experienced repairmen are hard to find, they are a welcome change. From the estimate to the repair of my chimney and clean up, everything was done as expected. They were professional and left the work area neat and clean. They tore down the top 35 courses of the chimney and rebuilt it The fireplace looks great. Thank you for a great job.

Spectacular from start to finish! They were more than accomadating, and their workmanship speaks for itself. It was a pleasure working with Gary & his team. They did a complete chimney rebuild with new crown and new flashing. They also performed a internal inspection of the chimney. There is a reason they are the best they are very knowledgable, and have high quality work to show for it.

Great! They were able to repair the damper instead of replacing it with a much more expensive fix. They did not charge me for the repair in case it isn't a "permanent" fix. I appreciated them working for a less expensive repair.

Excellent Communication actually the best of any contractor I have used in 38 years of home ownership. Proactively communicated timeline and reviewed with me each day the plan for the day, set the expectation, and delivered. The fireplace installed was an upgrade to existing and an upgrade to that quoted by a much more expensive competitor. The crew demonstrated good teamwork, showed respect for my home and worked cleanly and efficiently. Gary Smalling was easy to work with and very clear about what he could and could not do. It was really a pleasure and made an expensive fireplace replacement less stressful.

The inspection went well. Mr. Smalling used a camera to inspect my chimney from the inside. They also inspected my chimney on the outside too. Mr. Smalling and his crew were very professional and honest. He did a great job thoroughly explaining everything and all my options. In the end I am getting the crown on one chimney repaired by him and his crew. He gave me honest feedback and suggestions. He could easily have tried to up sell and he did not. Great job!

Great experience. Communication was very quick, clear, and responsive. The work was done on time exactly as agreed upon and the end product looks and works great. Price came in under quote. We wanted to get our fireplace made functional and safe and Smalling provided an economical and minimally invasive way to do this. Another company we spoke with wanted to basically demolish the inside of our chimney and the flue, expand the opening, haul all the debris out through the house, re brick the fire box, and rebuild the top part of our chimney while installing a damper. We did not want to go this far as this method would have been too expensive, invasive, and dirty. Smalling offered another way to accomplish the same goal. They sprayed a ceramic liner into our flue to seal it and heat-proof it, re tuck-pointed our fire box, installed a top-mounted damper and control chain and replaced our rusty chimney cap. This only took one day versus the other method which would have taken three, and it cost half as much as the more invasive method. We are very happy with this more modern and creative approach to our flue/fireplace restoration and we have been enjoying fires in our house for the first time since we bought it.

It came out better then we hoped. The tops of our chimneys were falling apart. We wanted something other then just a flat chimney they provided a design that we really liked and did a number of extra repairs as well. We had 4 quotes and they were the best price as well. Great price and great quality work.
