SMART CONCRETE & WALLS PAYMENTS (RIGOBERTO MALDONADO) Original contract price of $15,000.00 to include: New wooden fence on south property line (100’)……………………completed Repair and replace wooden fence on north property line (100’)….partially completed (see photos) New fence with gates* on front property line (60’) *2 automatic drive gates and balance with wooden fence (Only 1 of 3 sections of fence completed, no automatic gate & two other gates missing, track, controls, etc) Later Owner agreed to one automatic gate and one manual gate. Owner attempted to get a gate company to complete project but they would not consider touching Maldonado’s work due to poor design which Maldonado was able to solve as recently as two weeks ago. This in the owner’s opinion is the reason that he broke the agreement to complete all of the work and disappeared. Poured concrete driveway of 14’ by 70’…………….completed as agreed Paint two coats on both sides of all wooden fencing, plus 2 coats on the 60’ block wall on the rear property line. Contrary to our agreement, he refused to paint the neighbors side on the north, only painted one coat on the south fence and no paint on the rear block wall or front fence. Owner had a commercial painter complete all of this work at a cost of $1,700.00. Removal of all rock yard on each side of home and relocate to rear of property Payments made by check for the above were: $7,000 on 5/18/22 $5,000 on 6/2/22 $2,000 on 6/9/22 Balance Owed to Smart Concrete & Walls $1,000.00. Owner has a minimum expense of $3,000 to replace the front fence and automatic gate. The one company contacted will not consider using any of Maldonado’s work or design, thus all work to date was wasted, just like the entire set of steps which I paid $1,400.00. Also, a commercial painter was hired to paint all of the areas not completed by Maldonado at a cost of $1,700.00. Total loss and cost to Owner has been $6,100.00. Owing on original contract was $1,000, therefore Smart Concrete and Walls owes Owner $5,100.00. Add-on Contract Total Paid-in-Full, Was $9.090.00: Front wooden steps $1,200 (Paid $600 on 6/3/22, $600 on 6/9) Very Inferior Work per photos, plus expert contractor verification. Block wall ($2,400, paid $1,200 on 7/22/22, $1,200 on 7/13/22) Repair of Gas line broken by contractor $400, plus moving rocks $600 ($1,000 paid on 7/22/22) Owner paid for the repair of the gas line, although he had the area Blue Staked for the contractor in May and the contractor made no notes of location of gas or water lines. Additional Rear Fence $900 (paid on 6/3/22) Again, poor workmanship with a gate which won’t close. Additional Slab $1,200, deck $260,yard $780 + $480+$350 ($3,330 paid on 6/9/22) Additional material for steps $260 (paid on 6/9/22) This should not have been paid since it was due to poor design and construction by the contractor. All of this work will have to be redone and more than $1,400 wasted. He believes that combining a four inch step with seven inch steps is a good design and acceptable. A friend and former contractor, was going to hire Rigoberto Maldonado to do work based upon my initial comments about his concrete work, however said that he wouldn’t ever consider using Maldonado based upon the work he did on our steps.

Be Aware! Porch built 1/4 of the way and $4200 of $5250 was paid. This is third project for this contractor. The first two were great. We hired Rigo for a porch build. He started at the end of July. It’s now the end of October and with 3 months only the columns and roof are built. Because of the first two jobs; we recommended Rigo to another person; he went to do projects for her and left us with an uncompleted project. After several attempts to get him to finish the porch, I’ve decided to post this to warn others. I’m very upset and frustrated that Rigo took our money and did not complete the project!

Superb Job! Planning to completion was done in a timely manner. Job was done accurately as discussed and looks outstanding. Will hire to do the concrete slab in the back yard along with the building of a porch. Competitive pricing! Beat three other contractors. Definitely will recommend to friends.

Amazingly well done work! Rigo did a great job and picked up after himself, no mom services required!

All work is not completed, but close. Rego has done a great job and we expect to have him back in the future for additional work,
