Smart Design and Build LLC

Angi provided three contractor options for a bathroom renovation. All three came to the house to see the job to provide estimates. That included (Name Removed) and one of her associates (Name Removed) from Smart Design Build. A few days later, she sent over a contract to sign. The contract was vague on the details of the work to be completed. I developed my own scope of work, discussed it with her on the phone, and e-mailed it to her. I told her I wanted that all included in the contract, which she did. On 11/2/24, I signed the contract. The work was to be completed by approximately 11/18/24 as per the contract. They required a deposit of $5,553.95 to start the work. That was paid by check on 11/4/24. The check has been cashed. On 11/4/24, (Name Removed) and one worker (Name Removed) arrived at the house at approximately 9:15 am. She left within a few minutes. He started demoing in the bathroom and left approximately 4 pm. He left the bathroom a mess with trashbags, etc. On 11/13/24, as part of a text exchange with (Name Removed), she indicated that she was no longer interested in completing the work and would refund my deposit money and provide me with a balance sheet that evening. That never arrived. I followed up several times with e-mails and texts indicating that since she has breached the contract, I wanted the balance of my $5,553.95 deposit, minus a fair and reasonable fee for the one worker who performed 7 hours of demo on 11/4/24, returned to me by 11/18/24. She has not responded and has not returned my money. I believe this business to be a scam.

Within minutes of having Russ‘s contact info, he reached out to me and showed up on my doorstep the same day. He was more than willing to take on our outdoor bathroom drywall project. This project was not an easy one, as it had a lot of tight corners & columns. Russ and his team carefully took their time as the weather changed drastically and mud texture took some time to dry. You can tell that he really takes pride in his work and knows his stuff. My husband is an engineer and does most of our construction, plumbing and electrical, was not able to do this particular job. He too was impressed by Russ’s work! We will definitely hire him again in future projects. Thanks Russ!
