Was able to get a service appointment later the same day that I called. Juan is a smart, friendly, respectful technician who diagnosed and fixed the problem with our HVAC heat pump quickly. Turned out the OEM capacitor that failed in our 5-year old Trane XR condenser was a lower-end Chinese-made model which Juan replaced with a more robust USA-made capacitor.

I’ve used Smart three times now, once for a tune up by Jesus, second for repair from Juan and the third was a entire HVAC replacement. Juan was very honest with me when he did our repair and suggested we shop around for prices because the repair would’ve cost us about $6,000 but might not last long… and a new unit would be around $18,000… so once his temporary repair was done (add Freon for $924) about three weeks later, the ac went out again. So it was time to just replace the 18 year old system… I checked with three other competitors. Smart landed right in the middle. I told Sam from Smart that I had a bid that was slightly lower than his and he called me to discuss it. Sam was very knowledgeable and patient. After our talk, I decided to go with Smart that night. Their crew showed up the next week and complete the job in about 10 hours. The crew complied of Jesus, Juan, Benny and George. Everyone was very professional and went the extra mile. They helped me fix some electrical issue in the attic, correct some vents that were installed backwards (thanks Plute Homes) and even vacuumed the area after the job. They were all very considerate that I had pets around and kept the door shut. I highly recommend Smart. Their contractor also came the next day to fit the new attic door.

Our (now-)previous 16 y/o Rheem HVAC system started showing it's age recently, so we decided to replace it (for that and other reasons). Despite being improperly sized and installed by a different company, it had a good run.
I switched to Smart Heating and AC for our servicing and maintenance a couple years ago, and have been so happy with them, I knew they were the ones I wanted for a new system too!
They are always on time, professional, knowledgeable, and come with such honesty and integrity, and for the install of the new system, nothing was any different.
They installed a new Goodman Heat Pump system + new water heater, and all their work was so cleanly done, and you can see much of that from the included pictures.
They put in a nice new air-handler breaker in the garage where none had been before and patched up that (and similar) wall-work so nicely.
They also went above and beyond and also added new Intermatic surge protectors at both that breaker and the breaker for the outside heat pump (the part where the shining green LED is coming from).
They added extra straps too + wrapped and taped up the new ducting so cleanly as well. There was a lot of suboptimal (to put it nicely) work done by the previous system installers, which they corrected.
It was a lot of work going from a traditional simple single stage gas furnace and single-function outside AC condenser unit to a fully communicating variable HEAT PUMP HVAC system, but they finished after about 9 hours, and the system has been fantastic so far since!
It was also nice going from a janky "behind the wall" in-the-basement MERV 8 return air filter setup from the previous install job, to a properly-installed under the air-handler MERV 15 system, which will result in a massive improvement in air quality (& filter change convenience).
The actual outdoor heat pump is about 1/2 the size of the previous AC condenser unit, yet does both heating and cooling functions for the home AND is also very quiet, about 1/4th the sound level of the previous AC condenser unit it replaced.
Plus, the inside temperature is now just a solid stable temperature throughout the house, whereas there would be much larger swings in temperature, especially room-to-room before.
It also came with a super nice, full-featured, cloud-connected thermostat with a great app to control everything so easily from anywhere.
In short, so far we are thrilled with everything about the install work AND new system!
I want to end by giving a huge shout-out to the fantastic Smart Heating & AC employees who worked so hard and with such skill to do such a beautiful, clean, and solid install of our new home HVAC system: Jorge, Jesus, Ricky, & Benny are all amazing, and we are grateful to you all for all your hard work on our behalf. It definitely shows, and the system is running great and is such a huge upgrade from the previous system. They also were respectful of the home and cleaned up everything great before leaving! Zero complaints, only compliments and gratitude for all of them!
Mike, one of the owners, who did the initial consult and design of the new system was also amazing, so knowledgeable, personable, with such honesty and integrity. You can instantly tell he's just a good guy who always just strives to do right by his customers, including by adding on some of his own above-and-beyond guarantees about the system and their install, and not just the manufacturer warranty.
I'm so happy I found Smart Heating & Air Conditioning, and am confident we will continue to be taken care of so well in the coming years by the entire Smart team.
Having this type of confidence is super-important when it comes to your HVAC system & water heater. You don't want to wait 2 days or have shoddy repairs that shorten your equipment lifespan, for instance. These are significant investments and critical functions for the home.

I had to have my 34 year old gas air conditioner replaced. I was very happy with the service I received . It was installed a few days later. I was very happy with the whole process. From Sam coming out to the installation. The guys were so nice and polite and professional. They cleaned everything up afterwards and Jesus was very patient with me setting it up and showing me how to use it. I am very happy with the whole experience. I would highly recommend them

I enjoyed meeting Sam. He was courteous, knowledgeable, professional. My 34 year old air conditioner stopped working. He checked and recorded everything he found then showed me exactly what was going on. He said he could get it to work but no guarantees on how long it would last. He then told me about the new smart air conditioners. Electric, smaller: quiet and more energy efficient. Mine runs on gas so my PG&E bill is outrageous. He didn’t try to sell me anything he just told me my options. Needless to say installation is next week

He fixed the problem quickly and offered expert assistance in setting up an ongoing maintenance plan for our 35+ year old furnace. Also, he was engaging, and focused on the customer experience. You’ve got a great employee in Juan Rodriguez Pinto. He made me want to be a recurring costumer to your business. Which, as a person who works in costumer service myself, is the highest praise I can give.

Smart Heating and Air Conditioning was very responsive and came out when we really needed them. We were without heat as our old furnace no longer worked and our AC was on its last leg. Mike came out to give us a quote which was the best out of three that we had. He went over all options with us and now we are very satisfied to have a new and efficient heating and AC system. They lived up to their name as well, by upgrading my thermostat to a WiFi one that added that SMART touch to my system.

Smart Heating and Air Conditioning was the most professional, friendly, and knowledgeable company I’ve worked with. From our first contact, we felt like we were working with family. Our furnace went out and the techs and installers were all so amazing with keeping us all informed, especially Susie who works in the office. But what really showed me how great this company was, is that they saw our handle to our screen door wasn’t functioning and they were so kind to offer to fix the issue. They fixed it in 5 mins. You don’t see this type of generosity anymore, so we appreciate that! Our furnace and air were replaced for a great price and we couldn’t be happier.
