We couldn't be happier with the new deck! Our old deck had a good life, but it was time to replace. We got 3 different quotes, and with all 3 we requested quotes for composite as well as cedar. Scott's quotes came in at the lowest cost and we decided for our needs we would go with cedar and aluminum railings. We also expanded the size of the deck, therefore needing additional posts. We were very pleased with Scott (SMS Construction) and his proposed estimate for building the deck, footings, permits required, etc. His price was competitive with other contractors. He was extremely knowledgeable and very conscientious in his description of what needed to be done, and how it was to be done in our face-to-face meeting. He takes pride in his workmanship and it shows in the finished product. I believe in his integrity and follow-thru in what he proposes, executes, and finishes. The deck looks more attractive and was constructed much better than the first deck. The stairs to the deck look great and the color of the wood is also very attractive. (We used "brown treated Pine" instead of cedar.) We are pleased and satisfied that our money was well spent on this contractor and the professionalism he exemplified in the whole process. Craftsmanship excellent. Did exactly what I asked. Schedule for the job slipped but wasn't material to me. Work finished by my needed deadline.

Scott and his crew were professional and on-time. They cleaned up after they were done, and the work they did was great!

We stayed with cedar for the stairs, top rails, posts and fascia with aluminum spindles. The job took about 4-5 days with road construction and weather delays. Scott did a professional job. He was very efficient despite having to do much of the work alone due to co-worker illness. He knows the building codes and pointed out some items that needed attention unlike his competitors. We have received favorable compliments with the quality of the work and the appearance. Pricing was very competitive.

Great job by this group at a reasonable price. Took the time to make sure everything was perfectly level before applying the decking. Honest, hardworking, and fair. Gave me some different rail alternatives that saved me some money.

Just finished off our basement including a full kitchen. We had a challenging space for the kitchen area. Scott worked with me in getting the best possible use out of the area. He also built a beautiful built in book case/cabinet along an entire wall in the living area. Scott is detail oriented and we are extremely pleased.

Scott came out to give me an estimate, offered some suggestions. Due to the busy season, took a little while to get things going, but was completed in a couple days once they could start. Excellent workmanship. Would not hesitate to have them back.

The contractor lives in our area. We asked for an estimate. Scott came over gave us options & opinions & listened to what we had for ideas as well, he gave us a fair estimate for both jobs. Built the deck & installed, garage door in a timely manner. Everything was done to our liking & what we asked for they cleaned up & were respective to our yard & personal things, everything turned out wonderful & looks great.

SMS Construction hauled away my old crappy deck and and replaced it with a brand new cedar deck. This was a full service job done to perfection by SMS.  The materials arrived right on time, as did the dumpster to remove the remains of the old deck.  The crew worked very efficiently and did not leave a mess. Some rotten sheathing was discovered under the old ledger board and Scott sent me pictures from his phone which I immediately reviewed and authorized some additional work.  Additional cost for that was minimal and fair.  Final product is very good looking and I can tell that no corners were cut. Scott did an amazing job with our front porch stairs. I showed him a picture from Pinterst and he created new front steps that look just like the picture. They look like original stairs that should have been built on our Craftsman style house. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. While he was here, we noticed some rotting wood on the deck and asked him if he could help us replace the wood. The next day it was done. Excellent service. Highly recommend. <br />

From the initial estimate to the final product SMS Construction was in contact and professional in there communication, work, and expertise.  They did an awesome job on the deck and we are very happy with the final product.  I will use them again in the future and recommend them to anyone. <br />

We are very pleased with their work.  We use them extensively.  He did a good job of listening to what you want and providing feedback about what he thought was work.  Most of the time we go with what he suggests and it turns out even better than we thought.  It's nice to have someone who makes good suggestions.  It was done properly and on time as expected.  We will definitely continue to use him.

He did a really good job. We had got a lot of quotes for knocking our wall out and we weren't getting answers from other contractors that we were looking for. Some of them didn't understand what we were asking, but Scott understood what we needed and he was able to conceptualise exactly what it was that we were telling him. And he came and they finished the job on time. They cleaned up very well and everyone was very professional. He had two sub-contractors that worked for him; an electrician and a young man who was doing our drywall, and both of them were very professional. We are actually using him again for another project in October.

It took only 2 days. They came and moved all of the heavier things off of my deck for me, scraped it, washed it up. And then stained it with a perfect color that I wanted. I am very happy. And it looks so new! <br />

Everything went very well.  Scott showed up and fixed the wall, plastered everything and did the skim coat on the textured wall.  He was in and out in 30 min.  The next day we had to reschedule our appointment due to some issues we had in the morning.  Scott gladly came out the next day sanded everything and made sure it all looked good.  It was a small job, but Scott didn't treat us like small customers. <br />

From the time I had SMS come out and do a bid, I already had 2 other bids. I definately knew after seeing some of the more recent pictures of their work that I was going to hire SMS. The Owner had some good idea's as to what I was thinking, and helped with the vanity top colors as well. It didn't take long at all for them to complete and put in the vanities. I ended up adding things that I didn't think about in the first place and is still cheaper and and a lot more steady than those Home Depot vanities. Glad to have it all done right in time for the holidays! Nice gift for ourself! <br />

The process went great for the most part. There were just a small issue with the permit at first, but it all was taken care of and really didnt have anything to do with the contractor, just the city and getting it to be looked at sooner than later.
