ATTENTION, this might be the most valuable review you read! If you’re looking to have a solar system installed on your home, you do not want to get entangled with Solar Solution AZ (SSAZ). They are unresponsive, expensive, and from our experience, unethical. My experience with SSAZ (in short) has been absolutely terrible! Their customer service was abysmal and our sales representative was purposely vague and misleading regarding the process of financing and installing our system. The problems started immediately after signing the solar agreement. The agreement specified that the site survey would be conducted within 7 days. 10 days later SSAZ had yet to even schedule one. We were also guaranteed by our sales representative (brother to the company’s owner) in October that the solar system would be installed and operational by the end of the calendar year. When I received our Solar Installation Timeline from the company shortly after signing our agreement, based on the estimated timeline in that document there was no way the system would be operational by the end of the year. When I pointed this out, our sales representative told me the timeline was just to outline the stages to the process not necessarily actual timelines, and that our system would be installed as promised. Everything SSAZ was responsible for in the process took at least a week longer than even the longest estimate. Weeks would pass, and I would hear nothing from the company or our project manager. When I’d call or email, I usually didn’t get a response until the next day or later. So, by the time the final solar system plans were produced on December 13, we knew there was no way the system was going to be operational, much less installed by the end of the year. At that point, we canceled our agreement but the damage was already done. First thing you should know, SSAZ uses Mosaic Solar Financing for part of the overall project costs. However, Mosaic’s loan is designed to cover 100% of the project. I found out later, the reason SSAZ does not want to have Mosaic finance the entire project is because Mosaic loans do not fund until installation of the system is complete. SSAZ “offers” additional financing through GreenSky for 30% the overall cost of the project, with an 18-month interest-free “same as cash” loan. SSAZ then immediately draws funds from this account after your agreement is signed. However, if the GreenSky loan is not paid in full within that 18 month period, all accumulated interest (at about 18%) is added to the balance of the loan. We were told not to worry, we could use the federal solar tax credit to pay off the GreenSky loan. However, that tax credit is a non-refundable credit and is only equal to your tax liability or 30% of the project cost (whichever is less). Unused portions of the credit can only be carried over into another tax year once. Trying to recoup the amount of the GreenSky loan within 18 months, over two tax years would next to impossible. SSAZ will not disclose this to you, and when I pointed it out, my sales representative grew annoyed and continued to try and convince me I would be able to recoup the full tax credit without knowing anything about our most recent tax return or tax liability. When we did finally cancel our agreement (with good cause), I was told by SSAZ that we would owe $1200 for costs incurred up to that point. Of course, the $1200 was held out of the $4000 that SSAZ charged to the GreenSky account three days after our agreement was signed. I requested a detailed invoice, and received back an amount of $1200 with no description on a piece of paper with the company’s letterhead. I again requested a detailed invoice reflecting dates and labor costs for services provided, but have yet to receive one. So I disputed their charges with GreenSky. It has now been over three month since the dispute case was opened, and a decision on the dispute has not yet been made. I have absolutely nothing good to say about this company. Some of their employees I had contact with seemed nice, but overall the company’s management purposely mislead us and did not provide full disclosure on the financing prior to an agreement being signed. We have since gone with another solar installer (Freedom Solar), who provided us the same system inverter, better panels and much, much better customer service for a project cost that was 8% less than SSAZ. Freedom Solar also required no deposit up front, with 100% of the project financed with Mosaic at 3.99% APR. I guess when you know you have a good product and good service, you don’t have to worry the customer will walk away before the system is installed. We have dealt with three different solar installers since deciding to go solar last year. Of the three, SSAZ is the only one I wouldn't recommend. If you do choose to disregard this review, you cant' say you weren't warned when you run into the same problems we have had with this company.
